About the property

Pretty villa with lovely shared pool, in the up market beach resort of Calpe

This lovely 2 bedroom house is 13 yrs old and is situated on a small, quiet urbanisation surrounded by private villas, 2 kms from the centre of town and beaches. Set over 3 floors, the top of the house has a solarium offering private and sheltered sunbathing, with sun loungers and an awning. The second floor has 2 good sized bedrooms and a bathroom. Downstairs comprises of a lounge, dining area, kitchen and cloakroom. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a dish washer, microwave and all modern equipment, along with washing and ironing facilities. There is Satellite TV (limited range of English language progs) + DVD player. The house equipped with heating for the cooler mths and is cooled by an effective fan system during the summer. The house has a terrace with outdoor table and chairs covered by sun awnings, parasol and a private garden. The garden is gated with a car parking space. Access to a lovely pool (with children's mini pool) is only approx. 20 mtrs from the house.

Getting Here: Calpe sits in an ideal location on the Costa Blanca, easily accessed by the A7 coastal motorway from either Alicante Airport (approx 50 mins) or Valencia (approx 90 mins). Both Airports have regular daily low cost air flights to the UK and mainland European Airports. A large choice of car rental companies are available at both airports, car hire is advisable to access all that the area has on offer but not essential. In addition to the car parking at the house there is lots of free local parking located by the house.

What does Calpe offer?: Calpe has many attractions to ensure even the most discerning of visitor will have a wonderful holiday. There is a wealth of restaurants and bars to satisfy all tastes and budgets. Calpe's two Blue Flag main beaches are widely know for their fine sand and calm waters, ideal for families. Walk to the summit of the Rock of Ifach (marvellous panorama) Nature park Penon (Natur-Room with exhibits and audiovisuals) Promenade of the Prince (Cardel Mar) Auctions at the Fish Market (Lonja). Boat rides to Beniform, Javea and Denia (local amenities may be subject to change).

Entertainment: Whether you want a quiet holiday or a fun-packed one there is something for everyone in and around Calpe. For the young at heart there is the Disney style Terra Mitica theme park at Benidorm. Terra Natura, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Exotic Animal and Marine park. There are Safari Parks at Aitana and Vergel. Visit Waterfalls of Bolullla, Caves at Benidoleig and Canalobre. For superb international shows with dinner the renowned Benidorm Palace and the Casino Mediterraneo at Villajoyosa are not to be missed. Worth taking a drive to are the vineyards and bodegas of the Jalon Valley where you will get some fantastic wine bargains. There are many surrounding towns within an hours drive, all well worth a visit - Moraira, Altea, Javea, Denia and Benissa are a must - as is the beautifully preserved medieval village of Guadalest up in the mountains.

Linda and Mike Ashdown live in Cheshire in England. Now retired, Mike worked as a Senior Manager for a major UK company and Linda is a Talent Management Specialist. We have three grown up sons and 5 grandchildren who all love our house in Spain.

Why Linda and Michael chose Calpe

This is an ideal house for both couples and families. The urbanisation is well managed and maintained as is the lovely pool, with it's infants section. The house is modern, bright, clean and comfortable. We update the decorations and facilities yearly to ensure it is maintained to a good standard. Away from the noise of the town, it is close enough to enjoy all the facilities. Wifi was added in 2012!

What makes this house unique

We loved the house on first site because it is located in an upmarket area, amongst lovely villas and with beautiful views of the surrounding area. We can walk in local fields and the valley or sit on our terrace or solarium at night with the sent of jasmine and enjoy a glass of wine or have a meal in the peaceful garden.

The house is well furnished and comfortable with each room cooled by overhead fans. Board games / cards are available, along with a selection of English books. Satellite TV is available with main British main stream channels. Cleaning service is not provided but can be on request. Local access to shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants are within walking distance (a car is recommended for the less agile) from the house and there is access to a large number of banks and ATMs in the town. The wide ranging facilities and amenities caters for most tastes. NB: All facilities are available as indicated and maintained to a good standard, however, please recognise that things may break or require repair when you are on holiday and whilst we endeavour to repair or replace as soon as we can, this might not always be possible. If a particular item is important to you whilst on holiday please contact to check if we have it. WIFI and Internet access!

Lovely home in an ideal location. Everything we needed was provided. Lots of towels and linen freely available if required. Would certainly consider another visit.

Stayed two weeks with my family.

Pool was empty every day.

A home from home.

The home owners provide many English books as well as film and music dvds which was a surprise. Although not always to our taste.

My son and I usually went to Bar Alman or Cafe Cometta, while the girls were watching Coronation Street, as they were within easy walking distance.

We will definitely go again.

Nice house in a nice location

We enjoyed our stay in Michael and Linda's house in Calpe. The weather was excellent and the view of the New Year's Eve fireworks from the roof deck was great. The house was clean and comfortable and well-equipped.

A great holiday

My French family spent two weeks in your lovely house in August 2011 and found that they could not have wished for a better spot. Not only was it very safe for their small children but was within easy reach of the area's facilities. It was a very peaceful setting. The house was very well equipped and spotless. They had been to Calpe before and very much look forward to coming again soon. Thank you for all your help and that provided by Zena.

First timers

This was the first time that we booked a holiday property direct with the owner and we will definitely be doing it again.

We stayed at this well kept, clean and comfortable property for the last week in July and the first week in August and enjoyed relaxing in the outside space which can have lots of shade if you want. Everything was as described in the advertisement however we think that a car is advisable if young children are in the party as the “bumpy hill” (which takes you to the beach and supermarkets) is quite a climb during the heat of the day, and also night. The pool is less than 50 metres from the property and was not busy whilst we were there.

We spent some time each day at the Playa de la Fossa beach which was very clean and has lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Our favourites were La Mamma Nostra, Tequila and Julios. We also visited the flea market and the Saturday market where you will get a bargain if you are prepared to haggle. A walk around the “old town” is also worth the effort.

Guadalest is a hilltop village with a Castle and a lagoon below it and has fantastic views of the surrounding valley. Go there if you can as it is a good day out. We also visited Moraira and Javea but would suggest you do not go to Moraira on the market day as it gets very busy.

In conclusion, we had a lovely holiday in a very nice townhouse which we would recommend to all ages.

Our Honeymoon

My husband and I rented this apartment for our honeymoon and we had a wounderful time. The apartment was clean and tidy and was really nice. We will recommend this to our friends and family. And we hope to be back again soon.

Calpe is situated in the up market Northern Costa Blanca, some 55 minutes north of Alicante. Calpe has developed from a small fishing port into a sophisticated resort offering a mix of traditional and modern Spain. Set on a headland dominated by the spectacular Penon de Ifach (rock promontory) and surrounded by the stunningly beautiful national park. Calpe has much to offer from the lovely old town with its Moors and Christain history, to the open air theatre, two magnificent beaches (with a disabled beach area) both with the Penon backdrop. An abundance of restaurants, bars, beach entertainment, cliff walks, children's play areas, day and night markets, clubs and sporting facilities. Calpe provides an ideal location to explore the whole of the Northern Costa Blanca; from the stunning wine growing valley of Jalon, to the up market resorts of Altea, Moraira and Javea. A Water Park, Seaworld and Terra Mitica (adventure Park) are are all less that 40 minutes distance from Calpe.
