A beautiful pine lodge with all the comforts of home in a spectacular location. The lodge is privately owned and is situated in unspoilt surroundings. If you are looking for something different then look no further. Its elevated position ensures you are not overlooked, offering privacy and lovely views across Troutbeck valley.

Higher Lodge is situated in Limefitt Park in the beautiful Troutbeck Valley. Troutbeck is one of Lakelands most beautiful valleys capturing the very essence of the Lake District National Park - a friendly place of peace and tranquillity set amidst truly breath taking scenery. Its location at the heart of the Lake District offers everything the lakes have become famous for practically on the doorstep.

Well behaved dogs accepted.

It's location at the heart of the lake Disrict offers everything the lakes have become famous for practically on the doorstep.

Higher Lodge is perfectly placed for a peacefull holiday whilst being close enough to major towns and visitor centres for those who want to explore the Lake District. Windermere, Bowness, and Ambleside contain many interesting shops and are all within a 5 to 10 minute drive, for larger stores the market town of Kendal is only a 20 minute drive.

On site facilities include a Pub, a shop, adventure playground, football/volleyball field, river pool and direct access to the fells.

There are two other pubs within walking distance, the renowned Queens Head a classic 17th century coaching inn and the Mortal Man. The Queens Head has a fantastic menu and an evening spent there will put the icing on the cake.

Very good, but not perfect.

Excellent location. Lovely views.

Well equipped throughout. Good quality furnishings.

Housekeeping needs a little more attention to detail though - the property was very clean and tidy but a couple of things let it down. Firstly when we opened the fridge, there was a really bad odour of sour milk.. I think it tainted our fooda liitle on the first night. I bought a fresh lemon the next day to deodourise the fridge for future visitors. Secondly, we were very lucky with the weather and my husband said oooh we could have a barbecue tomorrow. He opened the lid and found it had been used as an ash tray for cigarette ends.

Sorry, but our first impressions were a bit disappointing.

The property was clean and tidy with a warm, homely feeling.

A well equipped, spacious and homely property. The beds were comfy, the kitchen area had everything we needed and the seated area was great to relax in after a good walk. The outside area was fab - our own secure garden and decked area. Our cocker spaniel loved it. The information on local walks in the area was fab and we walked everyday. The board games selection was a great addition and our boys were happy to settle down in the evening to play a game rather than watch TV.

The views and local walks in the area were amazing. We also visited some lovely villages and bought fab local produce.

A bonus was having 3 local pubs so close by and all were dog friendly.

The accommodation was perfect for our family break and we enjoyed every minute and hope to return again.

Greta Lodge

Stayed here Last weekend in October weather was kind to us. Lodge is beautiful, clean, comfortable, cosy, lovely décor, suitable for 2 or 4 people. Our dogs loved the small private garden and secure decking area. Great views early morning from the elevated location. Good base for visiting many of the numerous beauty spots. Hope to return next year.

Great lodge

Great dog friendly lodge with secure decking area and small garden. Lovely location ,park was quiet when we stayed.Pleasant and helpful staff on the park- good food at the Haybarn( and don't miss the lovely walks following path behind the pub).Owner provided detailed information which was very helpful.Well equipped ,very comfortable lodge- we would certainly like to stay again.

Super lodge

Lovely lodge situated in a peaceful & easily accessible part of the park with Reception/small shop close by & the Haybarn pub a short walk up the hill. When sitting on the decking (a real suntrap when the sun is out) the beck can be heard which is a lovely sound.

The lodge is not overlooked & has excellent views of the surrounding fells & is well equipped & maintained.

We enjoyed our stay and hope to return again.

Troutbeck is a perfect base to explore the hills, towns and villages of the lake district. If you are a hill walker you can access the Kentmere round directly from the park. A short drive up the valley takes you to the Kirkstone Pass and a scenic drive down into Ullswater. Windermere is 2 miles downhill giving you access to Bowness, Ambleside and Grasmere all in very close proximity. Coniston is only a short distance away via a delightful little car ferry acoss Lake Windermere.

Friday change over. A deposit of £100 will secure your booking and the balance becomes due 4 weeks before your arrival date. Check in time is approx 4pm, the lodge must be vacated by 10.00 am on the day of departure.
Christmas and New Year 2017 periods are Wednesday changeover.
Weekend breaks are Fri-Mon. (50% weekly charge).
Midweek breaks are Mon- Fri. (60% weekly charge).

£100 deposit and balance payable 4 weeks prior to arrival.

Cancellation conditions - the deposit is non refundable. If the booking is cancelled within 28 days of the commencement of the holiday, no refund will be given.
