We stayed for two nights to do some hiking, fishing and exploring. Absolutely loved the place comfortable simplicity and the “up” on the mountain location, Nicolle was great and helpful with getting settled in and I highly recommend visiting the greenhouse.

Peace in nature
I made a slight error with my scheduling and ended up arriving a day earlier than planned. However, I was incredibly fortunate to have Nicole and her husband be so accommodating and kind enough to let me check in a night ahead. Their hospitality was truly wonderful! Once settled in, I couldn't help but appreciate the greatness of the cabin. It was impeccably clean and well-stocked with everything I needed. Although my days were occupied with work, I made sure to make the most of my evenings. The night sky was simply breathtaking, adorned with mesmerizing stars. And to top it off, I was lucky enough to capture some stunning pictures of a rainbow just across from the cabin. Without a doubt, I already know that I'll be returning to this incredible place. It left such a positive impression on me, and I can't wait to experience it all over again!

Little Farmhouse on the Mountain
Our stay was peaceful and enjoyable. We loved the peace and quiet. Our dog loved to run all over the yard. We built fires, at s’mores and spent our days visiting local spots. The house was clean and we found everything we needed for cooking meals. Since there were only 4 of us so we had plenty of space for our stuff. We will certainly consider staying here again.

Great Memorial Day Weekend!
We rented this place for our friends to come and visit Armenia Mountain for the holiday weekend. Our friends had never been up to Bradford County. They absolutely loved the scenery and the setting. Everyone had a great time visiting the greenhouse, the animals, and riding around on the mountain. We are so glad that Nicole and Steve have this place to offer. We can’t wait to this again!

The Harris Family is 6th generation of family on Armenia Mountain. Help us continue the restoration of the Douglas Place! Future plans include remodeling the kitchen, laying stone for the antique cookstove and restoring the outhouse back to working condition--in case you get the urge ; )

We are pursuing our dreams of being self-employed, raising our kids around plants and animals!

Why they chose this property

We are born and raised in the Troy area, and have decided to remain in this area to continue the legacies and traditions of our families. We purchased the property because we needed more farmland close to our home. I've ridden horses on the dirt roads past this property for years--never dreaming that we would one day be able to own it! The land hasn't been farmed in 40+ years, but are working on clearing land to make it back into a working farm.

What makes this property unique

When I was younger, I can remember riding around Armenia Mountain with my grandfather. We would drive past this white cabin, with lattice on the front, and a white picket fence with a sign that said "Oleo Acres: One of the Cheaper Spreads."

We are excited that we now own the cabin and surrounding land. We are farming: raising our children around plants and animals on a unique piece of ground. We pick wild huckleberries (blueberries) and harvest wild leeks. We hunt on the property and the attached 3000+ acres of State Forest Land. We ride horse all over the area. There used to be native brook trout in Rathbone Creek--we chuckle as we haven't even had a chance to go fishing in the creek yet! The pond we built in Fall 2015 is ready for fishing!
