About the property

2 double, 1 twin, 2 bathrooms, sleeps six people

The Barn (www.camberholidaycottages.co.uk) is perfectly tucked away at the end of a lane, surrounded by fields yet within minutes of walking distance to the beautiful sandy beach of Camber Sands. It is stylish equipped with large cathedral ceiling open plan living on the ground floor along with one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and one twin bedroom and family bathroom, the super king bedroom is on the mezzanine floor. Flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD, Docking station and digital radio, new Wi-Fi, excellent mobile reception. Stylish and eclectic mix (not all IKEA!). A Derek Jaman inspired pebble garden, large lawn and deck area with BBQ make it a perfect place to watch the amazing sunsets. A retreat in all weathers, the log burner provides cosy warmth in the winter months and cool in summer.

Local Information: Located by the sea, The Barn is within walking distance of the stunning beach of Camber Sands, yet secluded enough to not be surrounded by the masses, as it is set down a farm lane by the famous Rye Golf Club,. The Barn is an ideal property to explore from - whether you are into castles (Bodiam, Battle, Leeds, Dover) or gardens (Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Derek Jarman's surreal garden at Dungeness). Mooching around the cobbled streets of Rye enjoying all the independent shops and restaurants, or walking the coastal path to Hastings or exploring the wilds of Romney Marsh.

If its sport - try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, canoeing, tennis or hire bikes to get around. Hastings Old Town is a thriving scene complete with fish and chips on the shore and the new Jerwood Art Gallery set directly on the beach!

The Barn is two hours from central London offering easy escapes at all times of year, and now linked up to the high speed train from Ashford.

About Georgina Holt

Georgina & Richard live in the farmhouse and converted the Barn in 2000 - just as their second child was born, in wild and windy weather. Our golden retriever demands his daily walk through the dunes and races to the waves - a perfect place to live!

Georgina Holt purchased this barn in 2000

Why Georgina Holt chose East Sussex

Richard's parents bought Camber Farmhouse in 1952 as a holiday home! They lived in London (with six children!) and Camber offered the perfect escape (plus being close to the Rye Lawn Tennis Club!). Richard having started his own family in Portobello Road decided to move out to the country, at the same time his parents were deciding to sell the farmhouse as they were getting older and not visiting so often - and we decided to buy it and start life by the sea! It is an amazing place and easy to get back to London for the odd bit of culture!

Just Gorgeous

  • 5 of 5

Perfect in every way. Cosy, spacious, just as shown in the pictures except bigger! Everything we needed for a perfect Christmas week - even homemade mince pies, biscuits and treats for our dog. Couldn't fault it in any way. And Georgina is wonderful. So good we've booked for next year already.
