This charming selfcatering cottage is located on the edge of of a tranquil hamlet and has beautiful countryside views. It boasts half an acre of garden and a large 6x12 m. pool. The cottage is situated in a tranquil hamlet in rolling farmland on the edge of the forest of Gresigne, close to the famous Gorges of the River Aveyron and only one hour's drive from Toulouse International Airport. It offers an idyllic spot for active people, for walking, cycling, canoeing and many other sports, while the unspoilt countryside around is a haven for wildllife and birds. The owners would also welcome longer lets for aspiring homeowners in France.

Next to this cottage owners have a large farmhouse which is separate and semi detached from the cottage facilities; the farmhouse can be rented separately or together with the cottage, offering room for up to 12-14 people. The farmhouse and cottage will NEVER be let out to different parties at the same time, ensuring privacy for use of pool and garden.

La Cordonnerie is a very comfortable house, tastefully restored to retain some of its original 18C features. Residents of La Cordonnerie also have the sole use of a large garden and a 6 x12 metre swimming pool with diving board, pool house and sun loungers.

The hamlet is close to the villages of Vaour and that of Penne, perched high up on a rock face above the river Aveyron. The busy medieval market town of St Antonin-Noble-Val, a centre for canoeing with a delightful weekly market is on the riverside just 8 miles away. It is an ideal location from which to visit the many regional historic sites.

Located between the cities of Cahors, Albi and Montauban and within easy reach of the famous ' Bastide' towns of BruniqueI, Puycelci, Castelnau de Montmiral, Larroque, Penne, Cahuzac and Cordes, it is an ideal location from which to visit the many historic sites in the region.

Albi, a beautiful regional capital on the river Tarn, is very worthwile a visit with its historic cathedral and museum dedicated to the artist Toulouse Lautrec. The fairy city of Carcassonne is 2 hours drive south, the Pyrenees can be reached in 2 hours.

For this location a car is absolutely indispensable for transport.

Le séjour s'est très bien passé.

La maison et la piscine sont parfaites.

Pour les 2 serviettes il n'y a pas de souci car nous étions que 2.

Le hameau est vraiment tranquille et les villages aux alentours sont très intéressants.

St Antonin est un village très animé et ses restaurants sont un régal.

Nous avons discuté avec les jeunes locataires, qui se trouvaient dans la maison côté garage,le premier jour. Ils étaient très sympathiques.

Peace with a pool!

Le Cordonnier is a delightful 3-storey beautifully restored stone house in the middle of nowhere! Ideal for a quiet holiday in an attractive setting with a gorgeous swimming pool to keep your offspring happy. There are two lovely terraces just by the front door of the house where you can eat your meals. For expeditions there are fascinating mediaeval villages nearby and Albi, Gaillac and Montauban are within easy reach if you crave big but interesting towns. However my main reason for recommending this gite as a holiday destination is the absolute charm and friendliness of Lena and John the owners. You could not wish for anything better, there if you want them and not if you don't! I would return again and again just to see them. The steps up to the house, though, are very steep - not to be recommended after a few glasses of wine!

Small gite with great pool in rural location.

Small gite with large pool in a quiet rural location. Great walks on the doorstep. Within a few miles of lots of activities. Plenty to do mainly focussed on history and being outdoors- we cycled, canoed, walked and rode horses. Bikes are provided but if you plan more than a local ride you will probably be better with your own bikes.

Property has a small outside patio attached and large pool with terrace a minutes walk away. On three levels with steep steps. Basic but has everything we needed for a holiday. The surrounding country was the star attraction for our family.

You need a car.

Incredible holiday in a beautiful place!

We had a wonderful week and can't wait to return. The property was as described and more and we were very, very comfortable. A nice mix of old and traditional from the outside but everything you need and more in the inside. In fact it's probably the best place we have stayed in. Prompt and efficient communications with the owner. Arrived and everything was clean and tidy. The best part for our family is the large enclosed private pool. Our 3 boys loved spending hours swimming and jumping whilst we could relax in the beautiful surroundings. There is also a largish field/garden where my boys could play cricket and badminton. Belaygues itself is small and charming. We were lucky to experience the annual fete which was a great experience. Amazing food and wine with dancing into the night. The area around has a lot to offer. The market in St Antonin is a must. We also like the lake Montclar de query where the kids can swim (there is a diving board pontoon) and enjoy the small train. It's also got some pools and playground. A good day out. It's part of a holiday complex but a lot of people visit for the day. Penne, Cordes and Bruniquel also well worth a visit and not too far. The canoeing is good fun (you can go from St Antonin) with fun places to stop and grab a drink/bite to eat Ali g the river. We had a lovely meal in Festin de Babettes in St Antonin and this didn't disappoint. Beautiful views over the River Aveyron and a simple authentic menu. My husband enjoyes cycling and said there were some breathtaking rides over the corniche. Can't wait to come back! Highly recommended. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Nature et calme

Nous avons passé une semaine très reposante à la Cordonnerie dont la propriétaire Lina est très accueillante. La piscine exceptionnellement grande est idéale pour nager et jouer au ballon. Le jardin est magnifique, arboré et fleuri avec une jolie vue sur la campagne. Le hameau de Belaygues est très calme et à 10 minutes en voiture de Saint Antonin, petite ville charmante, animée le dimanche matin, jour de marché. Nous avons fait des randonnées, du kayak, des visites de bastides : Penne, Cordes...et bien sûr profité de la piscine les jours de grande chaleur. Nous recommandons cette location qui est idéale pour une famille de quatre, confortable, propre et bien équipée.

A lovely gite in an idyllic setting

We spent a week in this lovely gite, which surprised and delighted us at every turn when we first explored it. The rooms are all of a good size, with a beautiful light, airy upstairs bedroom with a wonderful view, and a brand new kitchen and downstairs utility space. It is well equipped, with everything you could need on holiday, and was very clean. The patio areas with barbecue are very private and as the write up says, you can find a sunny or shady area as required.

Just across from the gite is the beautiful main garden and pool, which are simply stunning. Plenty of grass for dogs (or children) to run around, and probably the best pool I've had the pleasure to use. It stayed at a good warm temperatures at the end of June by putting the cover on at night.

We had the pleasure of meeting Lina and John who arrived to stay in the farmhouse part way through our stay. They were delightful hosts, on hand should we require anything whilst affording us our privacy and exclusive use of the pool.

This gite is perfectly located, being in easy reach of a large number of medieval towns and villages, whilst also being set amidst beautiful countryside, ideal for walking and cycling. I would not hesitate to recommend the place and would definitely like to stay there again. Thanks Lina and John!

Perfect family get together spot. Beautifull, well equipped cottage. Added advantage for two couples sharing was the living room and terrace on the middle floor with bedrooms and bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs giving some personal space. Garden and pool greatly enjoyed. Lovely walks nearby and visits to St Antonin Noble Val for meals out and shopping.

Location

This is a very unspoiled countryside and ideal for those who love nature. It has much to offer for walkers and cyclists and we love the historical setting, architecture which also has attracted local crafts and artists to set up here. The climate is mild most of the year, with windless evenings but still shows the extremes of a continental climate in mid winter as well as mid summer. The pool is one of its best attractions. The hamlet is very quiet. And there is so much to see and to do when you choose not to laze about in the sun! 16 years and still we love it.

Within 12 kms: The hamlet is close to the villages of Vaour and the village of Penne, perched high up on a rock face above the river Aveyron. The busy medieval market town of St Antonin-Noble-Val, a centre for canoeing with a delightful weekly market is on the riverside just 8 miles away.

The surrounding countryside is rich in wildlife, with a wide variation of landscape from cultivated fields to a forest that is said to be the least polluted in Europe. Walkers can use the nearby GR46, or the many tracks and paths which lead off in many directions. The quiet road and tracks are ideal for cyclists, with a terrain to suit the reasonably fit. Other sports catered for nearby are horse riding, caving, tennis and golf. Leisure centres are approx 30 mins drive away.

It is an ideal location from which to visit the many regional historic sites: Cordes, Najac, Bruniquel, Puycelci, Castelnau de Montmirail, Penne, Gaillac and Albi.
