A lovely, romantic stone-built old farmhouse, modernised but with many Greek features, in about 6 acres of hillside and garden with outstanding views overlooking the southern tip of Evia and the Cavadora straight. The house has five bedrooms, three of which lead off the large living room with two bedrooms (including the master bedroom and en suite bathroom) below the house. The kitchen is large, fitted with an electric cooker and an open fireplace. There are two terraces for outdoor eating, one alcoved between the kitchen and living room, the other above the master bedroom. It is a home, rather than a holiday house and fully winterised. Also on the property is an old olive press building and other stone-built houses.

The garden is on many terraces and planted with almost all the fruits and nuts that grow in the climate, as well as shrubs, flowers and kitchen gardens. There are masses of roses. There is a large plunge pool which is cleaned daily. Our cleaners come in one a week, or more frequently by arrangement. Our gardener has a house on the property and will pick produce for you daily. We produce our own delicious olive oil. We have chickens and geese so fresh eggs are usually available. Apart from animal noises it is very quiet.

How to get there.: From Athens international airport there is a 25-30 minute bus or taxi ride to the port of Rafina.

The ferry takes 2 hours to Gavrion , the Andros port. Ferries are daily, morning and evening.

It is a 20-25 mins car ride to the house

You will need to rent a car at Athens or on the island. It is probably easier to rent on the island. I can arrange this for you. The last 200 metres of road to the house (and on down to the beach) is not tarmac but is easily accessible with any small rental car.

Dear Laura,

I will reply in full when we get back as we have limited Internet connection where we are in Tinos. We had the most fantastic stay at the farmhouse - it was a truly magical week and everyone had such a good time. What a beautiful place you have! We are all so envious! When we are all back at our desks we will be longing to look out at the view from the terrace again. We had so much fun cooking with all the amazing fresh fruit and veg supplied so generously by Joseph and his family. We'd love to come back again.

Thank you for everything. We could not have asked for a better place to stay or a more fun and relaxing break. We loved the beach close to the house with the church on it!! Oh and I almost forgot, the kittens!

The kitchen has a lovely old open fireplace for the colder seasons. The living room has a large wood burning stove. Our cleaner comes once a week to clean the house and the laundry is also changed weekly (this is part of the rental price, additional cleaning can be arranged). We can also arrange for help in the kitchen. The outdoor pool is a large plunge pool with approximate dimensions of 5.5 metres long 3.5 metres wide and 1.4 high. Our pool girl spends 2 hours each day keeping clean the pool and its surrounds. During the summer our gardener is likely to be there almost every day and has a cottage on the land, so he can sort out any problems and will also provide you with fresh vegetables, salads and fruit from the garden acording to the season. You can purchase our own eggs and olive oil if available.

Simple elegance and total peace

This house and garden was so beautiful I was happy merely to sit on a window seat or on the terrace admiring the incredible view. To be surrounding by farmers, go to gorgeous beaches (some sandy and some pebbles) with no one (or one or two people), to eat squid and greek salad in non-touristy restaurants, to visit the lovely town of Andros…. I could go on and on. The wind was usually strong but my migraineur daughter appreciated it because it brought the heat down. This is a very special house indeed.

“Magical week on the Island of Dreams!”

Gorgeous house hidden away in the hills with fresh vegetables growing in the garden, and surrounded by sheep, goats, chickens and kittens.

The most dreamy get away if you want the true greek experience.

The house is completely secluded with beautiful views of the sea, but just a few minutes drive to a whole host of fabulous restaurants run by the most friendly people.

Will 100% go back - i didn't want to leave!

Wonderfully personal, feels like home.

There are many lovely things about Andros and where we stayed, and it is with reluctance I say this because part of me doesn't want anyone else to go there. The house was wonderfully personal and feels like the home it is - much much nicer than any hotel. Joseph, the gardener really did bring fresh fruit and vegetables each day. All the beaches we went to had tavernas, each of them charming in their own way. Andros is a beautiful island. As soon as we got home we tried to book in for September, but it was already booked up.

One of the best holidays ever!

We stayed in the beautiful farmhouse for a week in July with a group of friends. Everyone agreed they had had one of the best holidays ever - we did not want to leave. The farmhouse is perfect for a group of friends as well as families with children. The setting is gorgeous - wonderful, uninterrupted views with lovely sunsets across the landscape to the sea. Within a ten minute drive are incredible, deserted beaches with crystal clear water. Joseph bought us endless supplies of fresh vegetables, fruit, olive oil and eggs. He was so kind and thoughtful and we enjoyed meeting him and his family. We ate so well and loved cooking with the ingredients on offer. The kitchen is really well equipped so you can cook for lots of people. All the bedrooms are individually decorated, with their own character. There was a constant breeze so we never got too hot, even at night. We would go back at the drop of a hat. This farmhouse is paradise and Andros is a wonderful island. It's really unspoilt which is surprising given how easy it is to reach it from Athens. We hope to plan another stay soon!
