About the property

2 bedroom apartment sleeps 4, air conditioned, fully equpped including internet

A two-bedroom air conditioned apartment on the fourth floor (with lift) of a 1960's built block. The apartment has views over the city and hills, and a glimpse of the sea. It is close to central Nice and 5 minutes walk from the beach.

There are 2 double bedrooms - Bedroom 1 with 1 King size (5ft width) bed and Bedroom 2 with 2 single beds. Bothe bedrooms have a good sized wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The large living room has French doors onto the terrace which enjoys wide views over the city and hills beyond. It is furnished with modern glass top table, 2 sofas and an easy chair. Internet access, multi-channel TV and phone are all provided, and we have a good stock of books and games.

A dining area with fitted table and chairs leads into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen. This includes a 4 ring electric ceramic hob; full size oven; a separate microwave oven; a large free-standing fridge-freezer and a range of cupboards.

The bathroom has a bath with shower; marble top double basins; and bidet. There is a separate toilet with a wash basin. All linen is included. A designated parking space is available in the gated private car park.

Eating and drinking in Nice: Le Nice is just 5 minutes away from a variety of shops and small supermarkets, including many boulangeries (independent bakeries). Nice like the rest of France maintains high standards of food for sale, both in the supermarkets, small corner shops and the markets themselves. The supermarkets are generally open till 8.00p.m. and on Sunday mornings; the bakeries will provide for your morning croissants and baguettes, lunch time sandwishes and snacks and evening treats!

The apartment is about ten minutes walk from the pedestrian zone of the Rue de France, where you will be spoilt for choice in restaurants of all types. There are numerous cafes along the Promenade des Anglais - and on the beach itself! The Cours Saleya in Nice’s Old Town is both the famous flower market, hosts the ‘Marche Provencal’, with all manner of local products and delicacies, and has a superb range of eateries and places to sit in the sun and watch the crowds pass by.

What to do in Nice: Nice is a ‘city by the sea’ with all the facilities of both. The beaches are within 10 minutes walk from the apartment, and you have an extensive choice whether you want the facilities of a private beach, for which you will pay a daily fee; or are prepared to take your luck on the public plages.

The Promenade des Anglais is literally that and affords easy walking - or cycling, in-line skating - for several kilometres in both directions. You can walk round to the Port of Nice where luxury yachts tie up, and the ferries leave for Corsica, or for a variety of shorter trips up and down the coast.

The Riviera has long been a haunt of and inspiration to artists, and there are numerous large and small galleries and museums in Nice and in the surrounding towns.

Access: The apartment is about 10 minutes by Taxi from Nice Cote d’Azur Airport (or there are local buses); and a similar distance from the train station. Nice is France’s second busiest airport and receives direct flights from all over the world, including all major UK airports, European capitals and daily fights from New York.

You can also travel to Nice easily by express train from Paris, which connects with the Eurostar from London.

The A8 Autoroute from Marseilles via Cannes has a junction by the airport and if you are coming by car it is just 10 minutes drive from there.

Nice is close to the French Italian border – travel to Italy is easy by road (car or bus) and by rail.

About Su Kingsley

We are a British couple in our 60's and we bought the apartment to have 'a place in the sun'. It has certainly proved to be that, and we spend 10 - 12 weeks a year in the apartment enjoying Nice and exploring its environs. One of the advantages of coming back to the same place time and time again is that we have got to know neighbours and other occasional visitors here, so its always a pleasure to meet up with friends again when we come.

When we're not using the apartment ourselves we make it available for renting - and we hope our guests find it as comfortable as we do. We've rented many holiday apartments ourselves so we know what its like to find your feet in a strange place - and we've tried to equip the apartment so that it is a 'home from home' for our guests. We're always open to suggestions and ideas for improvement - but most people seem to lke it just the way it is!

Why Su Kingsley chose Nice

Well, we came to Nice on our way to visit friends in France and just fell in love wth the city. For us it is the perfect combination of the buzz and activity of city life with the fresh sea air and views. So the next year we came back and started to property hunt in earnest! When we saw this apartment we loved the airiness and spaciousness of the open plan living room, the wide terrace with room to sit and relax in the sun, and the quiet environment that is still only minutes from the city centre and the sea front.

Excellent. Apartment, location, amenities all fantastic

Meet and greet was most welcome. Julian was waiting for us and showed us where to park the car and explained all aspects of the apartment in a friendly and professional manner.

The apartment was very clean and tidy.

The location was fine, it's elevated position provide good views over Nice to the Old Town, Mount Boron and the port beyond.

It was nice to be a in a quieter area, a little outside the busy centre of Nice and have the benefit of a very pleasant walk along the Promenade des Anglais to the town for dinner in the evening.

We did a fair amount of travelling using the rental car and the apartment was ideally located to avoid the traffic of central Nice. Also, the station was within walking distance, which we used for a trip to Monaco.

Other amenities such as supermarkets and pharmacies were also a short walk away.

We would definitely return to the apartment and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family.

An ideal holiday base

We first stayed in this apartment last year and were very pleased to return. It was as light, spacious and comfortable as we remembered, and very well-equipped. The owners’ agent, Julian, is available if any problems arise, which is reassuring. The sliding glass doors in the kitchen and lounge give excellent views across the bay, particularly at night.

The apartment is within easy walking distance of the Promenade des Anglais and a number of buses going to the station, port or along the coast, so it is possible to travel around quite easily without using a car.

Happy to recommend this apartment, as it provides a peaceful location not far from the centre of Nice and allows easy access to the surrounding area.

An idealic stay at Le Nice, Baumettes

From our first enquiry the owners were very quick to respond and positive with all our questions. We chose this apartment as we thought all the photographs were very impressive, the balcony looked fabulous and the description was just perfect. The apartment was even more than we ever imagined, as soon as the door to the apartment was opened we were just amazed, the room sizes all fabulous. The meet and greet with Julian was perfect, he explained all we needed to know.

The apartment was very clean and well provided in the kitchen.

We would definitely recommend the apartment to a friend and to anyone who reads this review they will not be disappointed. We would hope to go again.

When writing our comments in the Visitors Book, there were a number of guests who had returned on many occasions.

Well done to Su and Owen, just perfect. Thank you.

The apartment is in a block called 'Le Nice', in the Baumettes district just West of the Negresco Hotel. It is a few steps from the Museé des Beaux Arts, and less than 10 minutes walk to the beach, the Promenade des Anglais and the Rue de France with its shops, bars and restaurants. A short walk along the sea-front Promenade takes you to the market and the bustling ‘old town’. Good transport links connect Nice with the surrounding resorts and interesting hinterland of Eastern Provence. If you come by car there is a secure parking space and you will be able to explore the coast and countryside of SE France.
