Originally a private chapel of a famous Renaissance family, the one-bedroom accommodation has recently been carefully restored to its original state and retains its original beauty and charm. The Chapel has been fully decorated with antique furniture and has a wonderful atmosphere.
The interior is about 50 m2. There is one double bedroom located in the chapel's original nave decorated with original frescoes, a living room with full kitchenette located in the former sacristy, and one bathroom with shower located in the former confessional.
This house offers: air-conditioning, CD-stereo, DVD-player, free Internet wifi access, equipped kitchenette, garden and historical park, BBQ, parking inside the property, electronic entrance gate to the estate. In the living room you will find art books, travel magazines, city maps, museum and restaurant guides.
It is particularly suitable for a couple looking for a refined cultural experience, and who want to stay in a unique historic place
It offers 2 different accommodations: the Chapel and the Scuderia derive from the former Chapel and the former riding Stables of the Villa. They are self catering apartments in a unique location.
There are two bus stops in walking distance. A 15 minutes bus ride will take you into the city centre.
Stroll to the 'Ponte a Mensola' quarter, which is only 300 m. away, where you will find a grocery, a breakfast bar, restaurants, a tobacconist, a newsagent, a hairdresser and one of the two bus stops. A very large supermarket, a bank, a post office and a pharmacy are about 1 km away.
The Cathedral, Palazzo Vecchio, all museums are within easy reach, as are the nearby small towns of Fiesole and Settignano. The hill of Settignano, just behind Residenza Strozzi, preserves some of the most attractive Florentine villas.
Wonderful walks lead towards Settignano, Corbignano and, through of wood of cypresses, as so far as Fiesole. It was in these hills designed by man that Giovanni Boccaccio, Desiderio da Settignano, Bernardo and Antonio Rossellino, Michelangelo, Leigh Hunt, Charles Armitage Brown, Janet Ross, Edward Hutton, Mark Twain, Niccolò Tommaseo, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Bernardo Barenson and many others found their inspiration.
Dear Pia and Guido
Thank you so much for such a charming place to stay during our visit to Florence. You have thought of everything to make the Chapel comfortable and beautiful. We appreciated all the kind gestures such as the delicious bread and jam, plus the fresh fruit and flowers. My grandmother used to make figs preserves for me and they were always my favourite. When she died a few years back, her property was sold and, of course, the old fig tree with it. It was quite special to have the fig jam each morning, bringing back memories of her. The restoration of the Chapel is remarkable. There is something unique to enjoy everywhere you look. We took lots and lots of pictures to show to all our friends and family, so who knows, you may see some of them one day!

I have used vrbo.com for beach vacations before and decided to have a look at Florence to see what was listed. I found Residenza Strozzi Cappella Chapel and fell in love with it. My passion is anything Renaissance and I have always wanted to go to Florence. I booked this perfect destination because I felt like if I didn't just do it I would never live my dream of seeing Italy. I wanted to get the full Italian experience of staying in the country side but still being accessible to the city center by bus. Florence was magnificent and Guido was very helpful with any questions I had . The chapel was amazing and comfortable to stay in. There was a good pizza shop at the San Marco square where the bus stopped which I visited daily before beginning my adventures in the city. Even with a Firenze card I barely put a dent in all the wonderful things to see in Florence. I hope to plan a retirement trip in the future to return to this beautiful city and continue exploring all that I didn't get to this trip. Thank you Guido for making my first time to Florence and this special chapel so enjoyable. And it was my birthday, what an awesome way to celebrate my day🙂Many thanks, I am truly blessed. Margaret
If you like the quiet beauty of the Tuscan countryside and the convenience of having Florence just minutes away, then you'll love staying at the Residenza Strozzi. If you want to relax @ the end of a long busy day of exploring the sights & gelato shops of the city, you'll enjoy coming home to the Residenza Strozzi. It was quiet, restful, and if we needed anything, Guido was available and extremely helpful. He made us feel welcome and comfortable, offering the use of his gardens, mini-pool, patio, and informational binder with maps and information we may need. Whatever help we needed, Guido went above and beyond to assist us.
The apartment was cleverly transformed from a chapel into a welcoming and relaxing home-away-from-home. The kitchen had everything necessary for cooking our meals, and all the basics were there - olive oil, vinegar, coffee, s&p, utensils, wine glasses, and cookware. Dish soap, towels, & toilet paper were provided. The stove didn't always want to stay lit, but we managed.
A 10-minute walk to the village of Ponte de Mensola brings you to the closest bus stop, a lovely restaurant, friendly locals, and a small grocery with all the basics and cheerfully helpful staff.
If we return to Italy, we will want to stay here again.
A lovely stay in the Tuscan Valley - easy access into Florence and the accommodation was cost and well equipped .
My wife and I stayed at the chapel for 5 nights of our 5-1/2 week tour of Italy and Paris. This was certainly a highlight of the trip. The location is a little out of the way, a car is a must, but I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Guido lives on the property and was very helpful on getting around, where the bus stop was to get to the heart of Florence, where to shop, etc. The chapel was very well equipped and he even had a bottle of wine for us to enjoy, very thoughtful. This was a nice place to return to after a long day of sightseeing in Florence, Siena and even San Gimignano. Thank you Guido for making our trip a little bit more enjoyable.

The property was lovely, the outside was kept up better than the inside of the Chapel. For our 8 day stay we had no clean towels or linens, the place was not that clean and we had a bug outbreak in the kitchen, ants. I would not recommend this place to friends or family.
This is a hidden gem surrounded by beautiful gardens, formal and informal, and right next door to a lovely 17th century villa. After a day of visiting Florence returning to the quiet and peace of our lovely place was an absolute pleasure. Even the short walk from the bus station was enjoyable. The apartment is quiet, very clean and shabby chic. The bedroom is uniquely lovely and the bed is quite comfortable. The kitchen is small but adequate for two people. Guido was helpful in all ways and provided maps and directions for the entire area. We loved our stay and would definitely book here again if we were in the area.
