Our “Georgetown Spot” vacation rental is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath chalet-style duplex with office and garage. It has an open floor plan with vaulted knotty pine ceilings and numerous custom copper touches and original artwork. The main living area features a sun-drenched, south facing wall of windows that looks out at the Clear Creek and the entrances to Guanella Pass and Loveland Pass. An old mine and the Clear Creek are visible out the west facing wall of windows at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the balcony level. There is swivel wall-mounted 65" smart TV next to the gas fireplace. Both can be enjoyed from comfortable leather furniture. The TV is visible from anywhere on the lower level and balcony. There is also a granite counter bar with swivel stools. The beautiful, fully equipped granite and stainless kitchen has a walk-in pantry. The dining area has a pine table and four leather cushioned chairs.
A beautiful master bedroom with ample closet space and bathroom with tub/shower complete the main level. The bedroom is furnished with a huge, oak, queen sized bed and armoire and is high-lighted with a gigantic Tibetan hand-carved wall panel. The ceiling is vaulted. This bedroom is located on the opposite end of the unit away from the open balcony suite and is quite cozy and private.
The balcony of our Georgetown Spot features a custom copper pipe and beveled glass paneled handrail and copper stair banister. It has a balcony suite with a queen-size canopy bed and bedside refrigerator. There is an antique dresser and large closet plus a sitting area with two comfortable chairs. Relax and read a book or gaze out at the beautiful Georgetown scenery. The glass slider lets you out onto the private, exterior, second floor deck for an even better look at the Clear Creek and the surrounding mountains.
A small office is located off of the balcony hallway. It has its own skylight in the vaulted ceiling and a door for privacy.
The chalet has been recently renovated inside and outside. All reviews are for before the renovations occurred. It is ideal for one or two couples or a small family (although we have had quite a few single individuals have stayed here). A washer and dryer under the stairs to the balcony makes longer stays a breeze. Step out onto any of the three lower level decks - grill on the back deck or watch the Clear Creek flow past on the other two. The creekside deck has bar stools and a granite bar/railing. The creekside side yard shown in the photos is elevated above the road and creek providing a wonderful place to hang out under a mighty fur tree.
The Georgetown Spot was built in 1973 by speculative investors looking to cash in on Colorado’s 1976 Winter Olympic bid. However, the Olympics were not awarded to Colorado. The project, which included all of the duplexes along the Clear Creek on Clear Creek Drive, went bust. Eventually the structures were made available to the public and sold off.
Parking is easy right next to the entrance or in the garage. There is a ski rack and sitting area in the garage that looks out at the creek through a huge picture window. Minimum stay is 30 days. Rent the Georgetown Spot for the ski season and live the dream!

Summit County
While we love living in Georgetown, we often head to Summit County for action. Besides the 4 major ski resorts, magnificent golf and fishing the Blue River, Lake Dillon and the myriad of restaurants never disappoint. Just 20 minutes west on I-70 through the Eisenhower tunnel
