Luxury privately owned - renovated longuere with heated pool. Sleeps 6

Updated: 21-Oct-2016
3 double bedroom longuere, 2 bathrooms rural setting, heated pool, internet

Ty Griffett is our own private luxury longuere sleeping 6 people. We let the house out for a few weeks a year when not in use by ourselves. Large vaulted living area, a very well equiped kithcen, wireless internet connection, TV, playstationII/DVD player, large library of DVDs, and books. The house has a heated pool, decking, selection of loungers, chairs, patio areas, a BBQ, 2 tables so plenty of seating room for alfresco dining. All the facilities are PRIVATE, NOT shared. Set in an acre of garden, quiet rural countryside, but only 10 minutes drive to the supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars.

The closest town is the market town of Pontivy, very good restaurants, shops, market Monday Morning.

Vannes, a medievel market town is approximately 40 minutes drive and have wonderful shops, restaurants -seafood being a speciality, a fantastic market on Saturday and Wednesday mornings.

Carnac, on the Morbihan coast has sheltered, gently sloping beaches, excellent for chi

Ty Griffett once a house and attached barn, has been converted into a large airy double height living area, (the photos do not do this place justice) which is very comfortable with 2 large settees and 2 snuggly chairs and for chilly evenings a huge wood burning stove, wood supplied. The dining area has a large oak table and benches that can easily seat 10 people.

The kitchen is large and very well appointed, with large range type cooker, a microwave/oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer. On the mezzanine there is satelite TV, Playstation II(bring your own games), also plays DVDs (there is a selection of over 200 films to choose from), wireless internet access so bring your laptop. There is an other settee and also a day bed that can be used as two single beds.

The original house has been converted into stunning bedrooms. Two downstairs, one with two very comfortable single beds, the other with a beautiful antique French double bed

Also on the ground floor is the large family bathroom this has a bath with shower over. Upstairs is the amazing main bedroom with a large king size bed, a settee, a very peaceful place to get away from the rest of the world. This room has its own en-suite shower room. Please note that the staircases to the master bedroom and to the mezzanine are rustic open tread wooden stairs.

Pontivy with the beautiful Blavet river is the closest larger town, with its market on Monday it is possible to stock up on everything, cheeses, bread, meats local vegetables. There is so much to do in the area it is impossible to list it all. Horse riding, canoe and bike hire, fishing, walking in the woods, along the quiet lanes, the canal or the river. Wonderful old towns, Dinard, Vannes, Moncontour, with timber frame houses, church's, loads of history, restaurants, bars, shops. Or you can just laze in the garden soaking up the peace and quiet and having a dip in the heated pool.

The port town of Vannes is 40 minutes drive, with it's beautiful Chateau, and amazing market on Saturday morning should be on everyones visit list.

Pol Fetan is an interesting turn of the 19th century working village, people in the national costumes, potter, weave, ploughing with horses, washer women, try the old games of skittles, throw the horse shoes, rool the coins, to name but a few. Also an Inn that does a very good traditional lunch.

Auray a beautiful town with a small port and a good selection of restuarants along the quay.

About the Owner

We live just outside Cambridge. We grew up in St Albans, but, when we married we could not afford a house so drove up the A1 until we could and ended up in Eaton Socon, we have stayed in the area ever since. We have 2 daughters and 5 grand children all boys and all amazing. We have a peace of land on which we keep goats, sheep and chickens when Mr Fox allows.

Very comfortable and quiet house

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for somewhere to unwind away from it all then this is the place - very comfortable house in a private and quiet location.

We stayed with our two boys aged 11 and 12 and they enjoyed the pool.

Very central in Brittany so an ideal place if you want to explore the region.

This is one of the cleanest, best equipped holiday homes that we have stayed in.

A fantastic house for a family. There's provision for all of the children from a 5 yr old to a 15 yr old with plenty of room for playing football or splashing in the pool. The tables outside are in the perfect position for a bit of late sun. Inside the house is beautifully decorated and spacious with everything you would want or need and Pontivy is well located for a trip to the beach, the lake or the fun parks. We had a brilliant holiday.

Perfect hideaway

  • 5 of 5

If you want to escape the rush of daily life, this is the perfect spot. Very quit, but with all the comforts you want on your holiday. It's located very centrally in Brittany, so also an ideal location to explore this beautiful part of France. This was our 4th time we went to Ty Griffit, and most likely not our last time.

Comfortable, beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

We had a family holiday, 6 of us including our 6 month old grandson at the beginning of September 2015. Really lovely, well equipped, comfortable accommodation. Everything in the house was really well thought out and lots of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc. so made full use of the dishwasher! The welcome pack was really appreciated. Garden lovely and the pool was heated, even a BBQ. Absolutely no hesitation in staying there again and would strongly recommend it to our friends.

Brilliant stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was the perfect location for our stay.

The house was immaculately furnished, clean and very well presented. The grounds and pool were equally as good, perfect for relaxing in.

I would definitely recommend Ty Griffet to friends and relatives, indeed anyone. It was comfortable, clean, - excellent.

We had a brilliant stay and look forward to returning soon

From the Owner

We wanted a holiday home in France had friends in the area who said they would look after a house if we found one. We found the fallen down remains of Ty Griffet, I could see the potential as soon as I saw the ruin, but the rest of the family were very dubious. Now we all love the house and spend as much time here are we can. The house is everything I wanted and more. We love the area, because it is easy to get, to with the dogs, the lack of traffic, the friendly people, what more can I say, perhaps I should mention the bread, wine, cakes, restuarants, quiet,

The longuere is close to the old town of Pontivy with cobbled streets wooden houses, an amazing range of shops, bars and restaurants. There are wonderful walks in the area, along the canal, by the river, in the woods or just in the countyside. Bicycles, canoes, boats, can be hired locally, and horse riding is available. Good restaurants, bars within a short drive. The people are very friendly.

Vannes is a beautiful old port and is the closest coast 30/40 minutes drive. With restaurants and bars overlooking the port and lovely market on Saturdays. Fantastic shopping. A lavoir (where the women did their washing) wonderful architecture.

Shopping to die for, clothes, food, presents, furniture.

There is so much history in the area you are spoilt for choice, Old towns, museums, churches, standing stones.

There is a market in one or other of the local towns nearly every day of the week so you can purchases all the wines, cheeses, meats, bread you can ever want.

  • Ty Griffett is our own beautiful private holiday home and because of this the decoration furnishings and equipment are to a very high standard not the usual rental gite standard . ALL the facilities are for PRIVATE use and are NOT shared with any other properties or people. The house is set in a small village (5 houses actually) in a very quiet rural setting of rolling hills and fields full of peas, beans, potatoes, ideal for gleaning once they have harvested the main crop. The neighbours are very friendly and you might be given home grown lettuce or beetroot by Renne the closest neighbour. The house is set in an acre of garden so plenty or room to stretch your legs. Seats scattered around the garden to sit and relax. The 2 dining tables give you a choice of where to eat. Recliners and seats on the decking around the pool allow you to relax and read a book or drink wine after a dip in the heated pool.
