Ideal for family or golf group (8 golf courses within 40 min drive).

Situated in the foothills of the Gavarres, with tranquil views overlooking wooded, green belt valley and famous Mas Nou golf course beyond. Views of Palamos Bay from 1st floor balcony, ideal for sun-bathing whilst keeping discreet watch on kids in pool! Outside dining area with BBQ. Large pool with two terraces, large garden, completely fenced, part wild, small lawn, ideal for toddlers/pets. Further shaded terrace below pool. The pool benefits from sun all day in summer and is not overlooked. Almost all windows have external shutters to keep house cool, and there is ceiling fan in living room. No parking restrictions in street and parking bay for 2 cars. Vizcondado de Cabanyes has good road and rail links to the airports of Barcelona (75mins), Girona (35mins) and Perpignan (75mins) and is 10 minutes from excellent beaches and coves at Palamos, St Antoni de Calonge and Playa d’Aro. Daily markets at local towns and excellent shops and restaurants.

For the Golfers: There are 8 excellent championship courses and two par3 courses within 40 mins drive of the property.The famous Mas Nou golf course ,with its incredible views, lies at the top of the mountain directly opposite the villa. Don't assume that a low handicap ensures you won't lose a few balls!!! For the less adventurous there are 7 other golf courses at normal altitude! A visit to the ever improving and expanding Empordar golf complex is essential.

Sea food and walking and Wine Tasting: There is a fish museum in Palamos and it is next to the fish market. You can witness the fishing boats returning from the sea around 4pm. and you can buy their fresh fish at the fish market. It really makes a great BBQ!

The property is within walking distance of several well marked long and short distance footpaths through wooded hills and along the coast. Local vineyards on some of these footpaths offer wine tasting and purchasing from their cellars.

General information: The villa, with its own swimming pool, is situated in the hills of The Gavarres and overlooks a wooded green belt valley .

The nearest beach is at St Antoni, just 10 minutes drive away from the house. There are many water sports, games to offer and many nice restaurants, bars and cafes for you to enjoy during your holiday.

Tennis courts, a fantastic Water (Aqua) Park, together with Go carts, and Quad biking just 5 minutes drive from the house.

Outside dining area and a fantastic swimming pool for summer use, make for a perfect relaxing holiday. Vizcondado de Cabanyes is close to good road and rail links to Barcelona (1¼ hours), Girona (35 min) and Perpignan (1¼ hours) or just 10 minutes from excellent beaches and coves at St Antoni de Calonge, Palamos, and Playa d’Aro. Daily markets are held at local towns and there are excellent shops and year round restaurants open in Playa d’Aro and Palamos. The pool and gardens are very private and there are tranquil views across the valley.

Why Terry Osborne chose Calonge

When I visited the Vizcondado development in 1999, i was offered a large choice of plots, built houses or houses under construction.

I choose this plot as I was able to amend the design. I re-orientated the master bedroom, so that upon opening the shutter doors to the terrace, it is possible to watch the sun rise over the bay of Palamos whilst sitting in bed; I also provided en-suite bathroom(s) and an additional shower room so that every bedroom has a bathroom immediately adjacent.

There is a very large pool which has sun all day, but very private. There are stunning views across the mountains to Mas Nou.

What makes this villa unique

Great south facing location, largely uninterrupted views across the valley to mountains, very private, views of Palamos Bay, 5 mins to beach at St.Antoni, easy access to supermarkets and excellent street market at Calonge, off street parking,etc

  • 4 Bedrooms with twin beds, 5th bedroom with bunk bed, i.e. sleeps 2 kids; 10 beds in total. The master bedroom has twin beds joined together( equivalent to queen size). The other beds can be made up as doubles on request. . Apart from the bunk bedroom, all bedrooms either have en-suite facilities, or are immediately adjacent to a bath/shower room. Bedrooms 1-4 all have stunning views. Bedroom 1 has French doors opening directly onto a large balcony/terrace. The bed is positioned directly opposite the French doors, so it is possible to wake up and enjoy seeing the sun rising in the east, over the bay of Palamos. Bedrooms 2-4 all have south facing views of the swimming pool and across the valley towards the Mas Nou golf course, which is laid out at the very top of the mountain opposite. The 5th bedroom is smaller than the other bedrooms,but has a glazed door opening onto a small shaded area to the west of the house. All bedrooms have large built-in wardrobes.

Fantastic for a family group with its own large pool, but only 5km from St Antoni with its sandy beaches and safe swimming. Numerous activities all within easy driving distance, including tennis courts, football pitches, fantastic Aqua Park (7km), together with Go Karts (10km) and numerous crazy golf courses, plus all sea/beach related sports. Quad bikes just 2 minutes drive from the house. Calonge has traditional Spanish restaurant/bars within a few minutes drive + historic castle. Or for a golfing group – the property looks directly across to the Mas Nou golf course, and a further 7 excellent courses are within easy driving distance. We can provide a list of the courses and help arrange reservations and recommendations. Very large Norwegian style, wood burning fire, with radiating heat, plus central heating throughout (not in peak season!) Outside dining area, BBQ and fantastic swimming pool for summer use, make for a perfect relaxing holiday

The villa was beautiful so well designed with lots of equipment. It was spotless , the pool was cleaned and the garden tidied by really nice staff. The pool was great and there was so much outside space for the children to play. Fans were provided which was a godsend at night. There was always hot water no matter how many showers we had!!and the welcome bottle of wine was a lovely gesture. We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely recommend you.

Villa Roma is all it promises to be

We had a wonderful stay in a very nice villa. Villa Roma is all it promised to be and we wouldn't think twice about booking again next year. You get great value for your money. There could be a little bit more tools in the kitchen and the fifth room may be slightly closet-like, but all in all it's a wonderful place for a great holiday.

Great views, private location & awesome coastline

Great time at Villa Roma in August 2015. Two families with 'adult children' spent two weeks at the villa in Calonge in a quiet but accessible location a mile or so from the village centre. Awesome views from the principal living spaces across and down the valley and we spent many hours relaxing by the pool and on the large terrace. The multiple terraces are very private and the shaded veranda was used a lot for al fresco dining and board/ card games well into the night after a hearty BBQ.

The restaurants we visited in the village were good quality in particular the Samal. The sea front at Sant Antoni was visited regularly particularly in the morning for those of the family keen to cycle and those that jogged along the seafront before coffee and breakfast in the many cafés. The street market and fish market is well worth visiting to stock up on fresh vegetable and fish for the evening BBQs.

Visits up the coast to the north revealed beautiful and historic coastal villages such as Begur

Returned to the UK relaxed and planning the next holiday.

Lovely traditional villa with stunning views

We found this villa to be perfect for our needs. The photos provide a true likeness and the owner's description was spot on. It has a lovely comfortable feel about it. We particularly liked the open plan arrangement for the living area and the covered terrace for al-fresco dining. For a group with two families it would work particularly well with bedrooms and bathrooms on both levels.

The pool is not heated, but by September was beautifully warm, and the large terrace provided sun all day, with stunning views across the mountains. There were plenty of sunbeds and there is shade if you need it.

The location is great and only a short drive to Palamos for bars and restaurants and there are good supermarkets and local shops within a couple of minutes, in Calonge. For golfers, there are some challenging courses in the area, and this provides a great base from which to play them.

Maison mal entretenue et pas pour 10 personnes

Il n'y a que 4 vraies chambres, la 5ème étant un cagibi avec lit superposé et porte fenêtre (odeur de moisi et saleté).

Cette maison n'est pas faite pour 10 personnes tant pour le couchage que pour les repas (vaisselle insuffisante et terrasse trop juste).

Contrairement aux mentions de l'annonce personne ne parle français, ni les propriétaires ni les agents sur place.

Il n'y a pas de garage ni de sèche linge ni de véranda. Le "nouveau jardin ombragé au-dessous de la piscine" n'est qu'une étroite bande de cailloux ressemblant à un terrain de pétanque.

La plage n'est pas à 2 Km mais à plus de 5, la route étant très escarpée pour accéder à la maison les sorties à pied sont délicates avec les enfants .

Les canapés sont hors d'âge et d'une propreté douteuse, les matelas des lits très inconfortables.

L'annonce stipule "La piscine et les jardins sont très privés" mais

la personne chargée de l'entretien de la piscine débarque sur la terrasse sans sonner et ce 2 fois / semaine.

Le terrain est très étagé il y a donc beaucoup de surface "perdue" car inaccessible ou trop pentue, la maison est entouré d'un muret très bas et d'un portillon ne fermant pas à clé.

Cette maison est mal entretenue, le ménage est plus qu'approximatif et les prestations ne sont pas à la hauteur du prix demandé.

Seule la piscine tient ses promesses ainsi que l'environnement immédiat très boisé et montagneux.

Owner's Response: This guest was described by our agents as the worst they had ever encountered. She complained endlessly from the moment of arrival and brought 2 dogs with her, which had never been mentioned or agreed. On the web-site, it is clearly stated that the 5th bedroom has a bunk bed and is best suited for 2 children. This room has a fully glazed door leading to the small garden area on the west side of the house, with a security, wood door on the outside of it, which provides darkness at night if required. There is also a small window for ventilation, ( photo available on request). There are 5 bedrooms providing 10 beds. The master bedroom has plenty of room for another bed/cot as do bedrooms 3 and 4. There is cutlery for 12 persons. The site does not say that French is spoken, nor does it say there is a garage; there is a parking bay for 2 cars; there are no parking restrictions in the street. The terraced area below the pool is nearly always in shade, and we agree that it would be good for petong!! The web-site states the nearest beach is about 5km away and also states that a car is essential. It is clear from the description and photos that this is a mountain development. Therefore, whilst it is a pleasant walk down it can be a tiring walk back up!! The outdoor furniture is similar to what most of the houses on the mountain provide. The pool man always announces his presence if the guests are at home. If necessary he will offer to call back at another time , but it is usual for the pool to be cleaned/treated a couple of times per week in the peak season.

Vizcondado De Cabanyes is a development in the foothills of the Gavarres mountains, adjacent to Calonge, a medieval village close to the sea. Calonge lies between Palamos and St Feliu de Guixols, in the north east Costa Brava region of Spain, only 35mins drive from Girona airport. Wonderful sandy beaches, picturesque wooded rocky coves, or snow covered Pyrenees are all within easy reach,as are 8 excellent golf courses.

Calonge is a quaint village with 3 supermarkets, traditional shops and a historic castle.

St Antoni is the nearest beach resort, great for kids. The old town at Palamos, (Palamos Bay is visible from the Master bedroom) , is great for shopping, bars, restaurants, tapas bars. See the fishing boats unload their catch in the afternoon and then go to the large fish market to buy your favourite dish and also visit the Fish Museum. Playa D'Aro has great fashion shops, discos, entertainment centres, fun fair, restaurants, bars, etc.

Other Activities: There are two excellent tennis clubs, clay courts, nearby, (3/4mins)

Golf. Mas Nou is a magnificent golf course at the top of the mountain opposite. Although only 8 kms, allow 20 mins to drive as last part is steep and winding.

Golf: There are 7 other excellent championship and three 'par 3' courses within 40 min drive of the property. The famous Mas Nou golf course ,with its incredible views, lies at the top of the mountain directly opposite the villa.

Quad bike riding 2 minutes away.

Water Park 7 minutes.

Beach at St. Antoni 5 minutes.

Go-karts 15 minutes.

Funfair 10 minutes.
