About this property

If you would like a quiet country setting then look no further. Bring your family or friends and enjoy a stay on the farm. This rental will sleep 14 comfortably. There is plenty of room inside and outside with parking for boats and campers, as well as one hookup for a camper. Even though this is not a working farm we do work with a local farmer for tours on their farm. Please let us know at time of reservation if that is something you are interested in. Need a place to hold your event? The BARN is ready!

If you are looking for a nice country setting to have a family reunion, special birthday party, work related events, class reunions or small wedding receptions we have the facility to meet your needs. There will be a catering option coming. Please call 641-425-4282 for information. It will hold 75 to 100 people. We have the table, chairs, and linens. We have other decorating items you may use for a small fee.

Our home has all of the amenities you will need to enjoy with family and friends complete with a grill, firepit, soaking tubs, fireplaces and ping pong. My favorite spot outside is sitting around the firepit with a glass of wine or beer. How many of you like to look at the stars? We have the perfect spot to stargaze. The kids enjoy catching fire flies especially in June. If you are interested in day trips there is plenty to see and do in the area. Fishing, hiking, bike trail, swimming, hunting, snowmobiling and golfing to name a few. Pheasant hunting has become a great draw for our guests. We have guests from Alabama and South Carolina come every year in November just to hunt. You might even consider Deer Season which is the first part of December. While in town you will want to check out our Windsor Theater as well as the many small shops and restaurants. Check out Franklin County Tourism for events happening in the area during your stay.

If you are up for a longer day trip we are only 30 minutes from Clear Lake, 50 minutes from Ames and hour from Waterloo. There so many things to explore if you haven't been to North Central Iowa. The Grotto is one of my favorite at West Bend, Iowa. It is about an hour away. Let us know what your interests are and we can help with suggestions.

Our home was built in 1921 by our ancestors. Over the years we have updated and now it is a special place for families and friends to make memories. We hope you will decide to stay with us. You never know what you might find on the farm. Hope to see you soon!

Great Winter Stay

The driveway and walkway were shoveled. Check-in was simple and easy. Plenty of room for everyone. The house was well stocked with towels, linens, and housewares. Every room had its own bathroom. We will definitely stay there again!

Amazing! Lots of space inside and outside!

This was a great property for our family. Plenty of space inside. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. We had 9 adults and 3 children under 10. We played yard games and catch in the big yard. We explored and shopped in nearby Hampton. Our host even called us in the evening to alert us to upcoming storm warning. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable.

This farmstead is a part of our Heritage. My husbands ancestors built this property in 1921. In 2005 we had the opportunity to buy the property. It has been quite an undertaking and at first we ran it as a bed and breakfast. A few years ago we took a vacation and rented a vacation home. We fell in love with the idea and decided that our home would make a great vacation home. You see this is our second home. We live on a working farm only two miles away. For the most part myself (Donnis) and my daughter (Lacey) run the business but it is definitely a family affair. You will find all of us helping out even the grandchildren. We feel that we have made it a special place for all who enter to enjoy. Besides taking care of the home we all have full time jobs so we keep busy. One of our dreams was to build a BARN on the property for our guests and community to use. It has been quite an undertaking but it is ready. We have been renting it out now for just about a year. We are so excited to have this available and we are very proud of how it looks. My daughter Lacey designed the outside and inside. My son-in-law Blair did all of the interior work. There definitely was some tears and frustrations during the build but it was worth it. We really enjoy sharing this home with all of our guests and we hope that some day you will be a guest as well. We have so many repeat guests and we love them all.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property because my husbands great grandfather, and grandfather built it in 1921 and his dad was born here. Many of the locals have told us that they are sure it was a Sears and Roebuck home. We have done some research and have found a picture that looks like ours before the addition was put on. That they could purchase between 1920 and 1922. Over the years we have made updates but tried to keep as much of the original home the same. You will find the woodwork is original and beautiful. We have made sure that you have all the amenities that you will need while you enjoy your time here. The biggest draw is that it is in the country but still on a major Highway so no gravel and only 5 miles from Hampton where you will find many amenities.

What makes this property unique

Our property sits on 3 acres that allows you to have space to enjoy family and friends. If you are looking for peace and quiet our home is a great place for that. If you are looking to create memories with your family and friends you will. You never know what you might find on the farm. In 2021 we started building our dream which is a BARN that our guest and community can use for Reunions, Birthday Parties, Receptions, Meetings and Small Weddings. The BARN (which is what we call it) is up and available. We love this property because it was build by our ancestors. Over the years we have done updates both inside and outside. One of the best features is the 5 bathrooms. We still have a bucket list of items that we want to do but we take one day at a time.
