About the property

The Grand Canyon Riverhouse is conveniently located just outside of downtown Flagstaff in a rural neighborhood within a 7 minute drive to the downtown. There is a trail from the neighborhood that connects all neighbors to the Arizona Trail Wilderness where deep canyons, and wildlife thrive. Many times a year Elk roam through the neighborhood. The Cross Country skiing out the back of the neighborhood and on the AZ Trail is incredible. Consequently the Mountain Biking is world class:)

Also within minutes is Lake Mary among other lakes where one can fish, view wildlife like Elk, Bald Eagles, Osprey and Blue Herons. A few of the other lakes nearby are Ashurst, Mormon Lake, Kinnikinnic, and Blue Ridge Reservoir. We rent out canoes, sit on top kayaks, and stand up paddle boards if you would like to spend a day on one of the mountain lakes.

The AZ Trail also links to the downtown area:), for great dining and entertainment. We highly suggest visiting the Musuem of Northern AZ, AZ Snowbowl Skiing, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Wupatki National Monument, Sedona, and of course the Grand Canyon!

The Grand Canyon Riverhouse is NOT full of pricey cosmetically valuable items. Too many people stay here, it gets used. It is not on the golf course, the yard survives as the weather provides much like the rest of the neighborhood. There is WIFI, and a TV with a DVD, and games to encourage interaction. The Riverhouse is unlike a pricey 5 star resort. There is no fine china, just the normal digs of Grandma's house. If your group is looking for high end accomodations this is not it. Watch the Video, just a big normal house at a great price.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Before robbing 4 Casino's simultaneously in Vegas, this group of International Trixsters and Thieves decided to paddle the Colorado-They used the Grand Canyon Riverhouse as their base before the Big Heist-to plan!! The casino job was essential to maintain the adrenaline junky, party lifestyle they had become accustom to:)

Until next time,

On demand hot water provides the house unlimited hot water. In-floor heat creates a safe cozy, consistent heat. WIthin the master bedroom is a 4 person spa jacuzzi. Because Flagstaff is conveniently located at 7,000 ft the climate is incredibly mild( summer 80's) so there is no need for AC:) Linen, cookware for 16, comfortable beds, and entertainment make the Riverhouse just like Grandmas house:). There is a healthy supply of books, videos(DVD player), and Grand Canyon artwork. Phone, and Wifi available for ones own laptops. The Riverhouse is a simple Large home in a middle class neighborhood beside a wilderness area. The furnishings are simple and functional, nothing high priced. It is often occupied by outdoor groups recreating in and around the Grand Canyon. It gets used! Like Grandmas house. It is NOT furnished with high priced artwork, and fine China. If Raccoon poop, moles and wild bunnies in the yard turn you off, this is not the spot for you:) We love it!

This home is a true treasure!

  • 5 of 5

The home is truly a home style home. We were all happy cooking, sitting at the large family dining table together, watching movies, grilling, kiddos loved having their own space upstairs in the loft area. This home is located next to most everything. Beds and rooms were super comfortable. It felt like home. We celebrated our granddaughters birthdays. The owner took the time to add a special touch by putting Happy Birthday magnets on the frig for the grandkids. THANK YOU! It really meant a lot to me when I saw them. If you'll have us again, we'll definitely request a stay here again. Regards, PR

Great place for large families. We had 9 adults and 4 kids and had plenty of room.

Great for family get away. Only 1 large TV in the living room so don't go there to sit in front of the boob tube. Large kitchen table for meals and family games. Close to restaurants and I-17 off of Lake Mary exit. I would stay here again.

We loved our stay. The property manager came to greet us to make sure everything was okay. We needed his assistance and he came in less than 20 min to help us. House was very warm to our liking and had all the items we needed to enjoy our stay.

A wonderful, relaxing place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house following 25 days rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It was so nice to come back to a quiet, warm house. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out, clean up their gear, and enough hot water for everyone to get a good hot shower. The cell reception was not great, but this was actually a positive- we got to relax and stayed unplugged! There was great wifi if we needed it though. The bedrooms were really nice and there was plenty of space for us to come back together to hang out. I would highly recommend staying here before and after any river trip!

Comfortable and cozy. The pictures do not do it justice.

  • 4 of 5

The first impression was - home. And that feeling remained for our 4 night stay. The layout of the home was well thought out and every room was used. The sectional in the living room, the dining room table, and benches, all need a trip to the furniture hospital for a little attention. Some of the linens are exhausted and need to be retired, still, we all agreed that we would rent this property again. Everyone felt comfortable and returning to the house after our daily excursions was a blessing. The home was always the perfect temperature, the plumbing and appliances all worked. The grill was high end and a joy to cook meat on. The home had plenty of furniture for our party of 12. We played games and watched movies and had a great time watching the pine cone drop as we rang in the new year.

Refresh, Replace, and Repair:

The house could use a good sweep and washing down. Flagstaff is in a drought so we understand that the house gets very dusty quickly. The couch and the carpets could use a deep clean.

New linens.

Fix sectional and table and benches

Main downstairs bathroom - could use a simple rack to hang toiletries as there’s no counter space.

Hooks in bathrooms for towels.

Better pots and pans, better knife set, wooden spoon set.
