About the property

The Grand Canyon Riverhouse is conveniently located just outside of downtown Flagstaff in a rural neighborhood within a 7 minute drive to the downtown. There is a trail from the neighborhood that connects all neighbors to the Arizona Trail Wilderness where deep canyons, and wildlife thrive. Many times a year Elk roam through the neighborhood. The Cross Country skiing out the back of the neighborhood and on the AZ Trail is incredible. Consequently the Mountain Biking is world class:)

Also within minutes is Lake Mary among other lakes where one can fish, view wildlife like Elk, Bald Eagles, Osprey and Blue Herons. A few of the other lakes nearby are Ashurst, Mormon Lake, Kinnikinnic, and Blue Ridge Reservoir. We rent out canoes, sit on top kayaks, and stand up paddle boards if you would like to spend a day on one of the mountain lakes.

The AZ Trail also links to the downtown area:), for great dining and entertainment. We highly suggest visiting the Musuem of Northern AZ, AZ Snowbowl Skiing, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Wupatki National Monument, Sedona, and of course the Grand Canyon!

The Grand Canyon Riverhouse is NOT full of pricey cosmetically valuable items. Too many people stay here, it gets used. It is not on the golf course, the yard survives as the weather provides much like the rest of the neighborhood. There is WIFI, and a TV with a DVD, and games to encourage interaction. The Riverhouse is unlike a pricey 5 star resort. There is no fine china, just the normal digs of Grandma's house. If your group is looking for high end accomodations this is not it. Watch the Video, just a big normal house at a great price.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Before robbing 4 Casino's simultaneously in Vegas, this group of International Trixsters and Thieves decided to paddle the Colorado-They used the Grand Canyon Riverhouse as their base before the Big Heist-to plan!! The casino job was essential to maintain the adrenaline junky, party lifestyle they had become accustom to:)

Until next time,

Notes:
On demand hot water provides the house unlimited hot water. In-floor heat creates a safe cozy, consistent heat. WIthin the master bedroom is a 4 person spa jacuzzi. Because Flagstaff is conveniently located at 7,000 ft the climate is incredibly mild( summer 80's) so there is no need for AC:) Linen, cookware for 16, comfortable beds, and entertainment make the Riverhouse just like Grandmas house:). There is a healthy supply of books, videos(DVD player), and Grand Canyon artwork. Phone, and Wifi available for ones own laptops. The Riverhouse is a simple Large home in a middle class neighborhood beside a wilderness area. The furnishings are simple and functional, nothing high priced. It is often occupied by outdoor groups recreating in and around the Grand Canyon. It gets used! Like Grandmas house. It is NOT furnished with high priced artwork, and fine China. If Raccoon poop, moles and wild bunnies in the yard turn you off, this is not the spot for you:) We love it!

Rustic charm with plenty of room

  • 5 of 5

My family needed a large space so that we all could stay together for my nephew's graduation from NAU. Located close to town made it extremely convenient. Owners extremely nice and helpful!

Everything we could have hoped for!

  • 5 of 5

We used the Moenkopi house pre and post 21-day Grand Canyon trip. It was the perfect place for a group to meet and prep gear before the trip and settle back into reality after we got off the river. The garage served as an amazing place to pack gear, the open kitchen/dining/living area was a great place to have group meals, and there were plenty of bathrooms and showers to accommodate such a large group. Moenkopi dropped all of our dry bags and ammo cans right at the house so we had time to pack before the trip. When compared to renting a number of hotel rooms for everyone the house is very competitively priced and a way better solution! It was clean and there was no hassle checking-in or out. We had a little trouble with the Wi-fi and Brady came right over and sorted it out for us. We used the house two nights pre-trip and one night post trip. Would highly recommend this for a group of Grand Canyon river runners!

ok, cheaper than motel rooms for all, read review

  • 4 of 5

nice that it is right next to where truck trip shuttle unloads, nice to have garage on rainy day, could not get tv going (instruction sheet?), hot water heater not perfect and some had cold showers, no ice maker in freezer for cubes for cocktails, beds were mostly lumpy as reported by our group, some noise at next door home at night kept some of us up. Bring your own shampoo for showers. Some of us would repeat it, some would not.

Plenty of room, propane grill, jacuzi tub, big shower, 2 sets of washers and dryers. Close to Flaggstaff. This house was the icing on an allready epic cake! Will recommend to family and friends for sure. We will be back!

Perfect Grand Canyon Launch/Crash Pad

  • 5 of 5

The Riverhouse is exactly what a group of 16 river runners needs to start and end a Grand Canyon trip. Plenty of space, garage for staging, even trails down the street!
