A beautiful private villa with large garden & pool, close to village.

Overview

Property

Updated: 30-Nov-2016
Two bedrooms,2 bathrooms, A/C, Wifi, private garden and fenced pool.

Villa St Augustin has a bit of history. The original part of the building dates back to the 18th Century and although it's now just a short walk to the local village, it used to be surrounded by agricultural land. The farm workers would stop off at the tiny, two storey 'watering hole' for a well deserved drink.

The current owners have completely renovated and extended the building to create a unique 2 bedroom private villa. Some of the quirky original features such as the exposed stone walls remain, but all modern comforts have been added.

The central kitchen and living room have been created from the original, 18th century part of the building and benefit from thick stone walls which keep it lovely and cool in the height of the summer. There is SKY TV,a DVD player and CD player. The living room is an open plan one, leading to the kitchen, and it incorporates a dining table and chairs as well.

The kitchen is well equipped with pretty much everything you’ll need; fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, gas hob and all the cooking utensils and crockery

There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin. The ground floor double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and the cute first floor bedroom has twin beds. There's air-conditioning in both the bedrooms.

There is one bathroom, en suite with the double room, and one shower room with a toilet.

Outside there is a beautiful walled and shaded courtyard area with sun loungers just outside the French windows that lead from the lounge. This is a geat spot for BBQ's and an evening drink.

Beyond this shady sanctuary is a larger garden which has a safely enclosed swimming pool area. There's a large lawn, great for children's games and a well stocked, interesting garden.

The swimming pool measures 7 x 3 metres and is surrounded by a wall with a secure gate.

Relaxing Holiday in Provence

  • 5 of 5

Over the years we have stayed at a number of holiday lets and this property is the best equipped in terms of kitchen facilities. The bed was comfortable and bed linen and towels were new and good quality. The garden and pool quiet were secluded.

The property owner was very helpful in regard to answering questions regarding local facilities and was always just a phone-call away and was always willing to call in if there were any issues.

There is a well-stocked supermarket in Orgon and a very good restaurant called Le Cote Jardin.

The location is convenient for travel to the recognised tourist attractions i.e. Nimes, Arles, the Camargue and Avignon. There are many other attractions such as the Luberon, St Remy de Provence, Les Baux de Provence and L'Isle sur la Sorgue that are worth a visit.

A very enjoyable holiday in excellent accommodation

Location

From the Owner

Excellent location and adequate facilities. Mr F, Kent, August 2016 It was great - exactly as described - beautiful, comfortable and aappropriate Mrs B, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, August 2016 Very favourable. We were very pleased with the quality of the property and how well equipped it was. Mrs B, Bucks, July 2016 The villa was very well appointed. The pool was better than expected and the villa was very spacious. The cooking facilities were wonderful, and we were so pleased to have extra towels. Mrs C, Massachusetts, USA, July 2016 Excellent, the best equipped accommodation we have stayed at. Mrs L, West Sussex, UK, September 2015 Extremely well equipped, very comfortable, spotless, private grounds, secure. Mrs O, CAMBRIDGE, August 2015 Really good, very pleased as it matched the description (which with other villa's hasn't happened in the past) Mrs B, North Yorkshire, UK, July 2015 Really enjoyed our stay the property and owner were lovely. Mr H, Lancashire, UK June 2015 Of a very high standard. Clean tidy and well equipped. Easy to access. Lighting of upstairs area limited and proved issues overnight on the steep stairs . Great having English speaking hosts on site.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Nimes or Marseille at 50 Miles Nearest Barpub : Orgon at 0.1 Miles Nearest Train : Avignon at 30 Miles Nearest Motorway : A7 Autoroute at 2 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Orgon at 0.1 Miles Nearest Beach : Med Coast at 70 Miles Car: recommended

Please note; On the map, the villa looks quite close to the A7 Autoroute, however, you can not see or hear this road from the villa.

The villa is just a couple of minutes walk from the small, Provençal village of Orgon where you'll find small shops, a supermarket, boulangeries and a good restaurant. The village is on the edge of the spectacular Alpilles mountain chain and on the doorstep of the beautiful Luberon National Park. Both areas are popular with sports and countryside lovers. The Villa is ideally located for visits to all the beautiful sites of Provence; Avignon, with it's Festival de Théâtre in July and numerous museums, St Rémy de Provence and les Baux famous for its superb rock formations

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is less than fifteen minutes drive away, famous for the Antiques village and Sunday market. La Route des Vins, 'the wine road' (Gigondas and 'les Dentelles de Montmirail', Séguret, Vacqueyras, Châteauneuf du Pape) is also easily accessible and if its nature you're after, La Camargue National Park is only an hour drive from here.
