Overview

About the property

Enjoy the privacy of your own gite and private pool, surrounded by vineyards.

Gite St Sophie is perfect if you’re looking for calm, tranquillity, open space and ‘real Provence’ It sits in a lovely location, at the end of a farm track, surrounded by 7 hectares of vineyards. Throughout the year the landscape and colours change and the in summer the vines come right up to the terrace of your gite.

The traditional gite is well furnished and includes a few interesting and antique artefacts. The living area has French doors leading onto the terrace and is comfortably furnished with a leather sofa bed, coffee table and TV, as well as a welcoming open fireplace for the Wintertime and air-conditioning for the Summer months.

The kitchen/dining area is well equipped with all the appliances you’re likely to need, in including a fridge, freezer, oven, washing machine and dishwasher. There’s also a large solid wood dining table and chairs for up to six people.

The double bedroom is located up a set of ‘millers’ stairs in the attic. The stairs may take a little getting used to, but the view once you’re up there is great.

There's a sofabed in the lounge, ideal for one adult, or 2 small children.

There’s a shower room with separate WC.

During the summer, you’ll probably spend most of your time outside, enjoying the beautiful Provencal sunshine. To allow you to do this, the property has a shaded terrace, as well as a private garden and BBQ. Garden furniture is supplied to allow you to sit back during those long lazy days and enjoy the view. There’s also loads of car parking space.

There is your own private swimming pool, (8m x 4m), ideal for taking a quick dip to cool off.

What makes this house unique

Lovely and peaceful and very private

Mr C, Essex, July 2016

Excellent, pretty much as advertised. Communication was excellent, you answered our questions (in particular regarding the availability to hire owners bicycles), excellent and would happily recommend.

Mr R, Oxfordshire, June 2016

We had a lovely time so thank you. It worked well and the accommodation was excellent. The owners were lovely and welcoming and respected our privacy. Core things were very good. Bathroom clean and good. Lots of hot water and bed lovely and comfy. Stairs to bedroom were a challenge that we enjoyed and giggled over especially going for a wee in the early hours. Stairs very steep! We were fine with that but others may struggle a bit. Cups a bit chipped, again fine for us as it is home from home, but others may have an issue.

I think my only comment would be lack of information in the accommodation about how great Pertuis is as a town with a really good market and lovely walks so close by. We went to the tourist information centre who gave us great tips for local walks and drives to nearby villages that were gorgeous. We left their information in the house but I think you could say more about the stunning places to visit so close by as well as a tip to say how helpful and useful it is to go to the tourist information centre.

C & M, Wiltshire, UK June 2016

Excellent - lovely accommodation, swimming pool and location. Nice owner who was not intrusive and sorted out a couple of minor problems quickly. Perfect for those who want seclusion but within easy reach of local amenities. However, we did not like the stairs even though we expected something steep ! These would be a problem for anyone with any kind of mobility problem.

Mr C, Surrey, July 2015

Tres satisfait!

Miss C, France, August 2015

We had another brilliant week at gite st sophie. a very peaceful setting in the vineyard and a great location to explore the surrounding villages.

Peace and quiet lovely pool

  • 5 of 5

Very restful stay. Everything we needed. Wonderful private pool. Cosy house. Owner very helpful if you asked but left alone otherwise. Good central location with lots to see and do in Provence. You need a car because of the location but we liked being out of town. Didn't want to leave which says it all.

A rustic Gite in the middle of vineyards

  • 4 of 5

Lovely location amidst vineyards

Extremely helpful host who gave us tips on places to visit

We enjoyed the white wine made by our host

Private pool is a bonus

It would be useful to have a file with information on local walks, markets etc but our host helped us with these queries.

Stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and would not be suitable for everyone

Despite its quiet location, your gite is only a short drive or cycle (bikes for rental) from the town of Pertuis where you'll find shops, bars, cafés and supermarkets.

If you fancy a more rural approach to shopping, there are some great local Paysan Markets. Every day of the week, in a host of villages nearby, local growers gather to sell their produce; Springtime brings fresh strawberries, green and white asparagus, cherries in May and June, with tomatoes olives garlic and courgettes all grown locally and available practically all year round.

The winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views, are great to explore and you'll find lots of charming villages (Gordes, Menerbes, Maubec, and Bonnieux) on the doorstep.

If you are feeling energetic, the hills around the gite have some great cycling and walking tracks, there are tennis courts available in Pertuis and this area is perfect for climbing and golf.

If visiting is your thing, you really are spoilt for choice.
