About the host

Hosted by Randal Peart

Host profile image
New Zealand has always been a bit of a melting pot when it comes to diversity. Waiheke as much as anywhere. While we are probably more famous for our Bordeaux blends, KP is a stellar example of the Waiheke Blend.
First dreamed into reality 20 years ago by an American couple from Hawaii, KP was quickly joined by a backpacking German girl who literally had her baby son rear slung during that first harvest. Heike has gone on to be the driving force behind the care we have for our vineyard – growing healthy plants from healthy land.
Randal, our talented winemaker is from Auckland. Any time not spent tending our wines he goes fishing or surfing. Randal brings experience from all over New Zealand, France and more.
Peter runs our cellar door; his welcoming nature makes wine tasting an experience you never forget.
Our biodynamic team, Jessie and Kyla McMoo are highlanders all the way from Scotland.
It’s a bit of a rag bag, but we wouldn’t have it any other way

Why they chose this property

Guesthouse is located at Kennedy Point Vineyard.
The home vineyard was planted in 1996 on 13.5 acres of land with steep north facing slopes. This land has a history of fruitful ventures beginning with its name- sake Captain John B. Kennedy who arrived from Scotland in 1879 and broke in four and a half thousand acres of land on Waiheke to build a new life in New Zealand. Today, following Organic viticulture, and bio Dynamic practices, the vines planted in dense clay soils, heated by the long sunlight hours, cooled by the sea breezes, and hand tended, produce wines “reflecting the vitality of the land” Kennedy Point is the 1st and only Certified organic vineyard on Waiheke Island
