Two Bedrooms. One has a Double bed with firm Sealy mattress. Bedroom two has Bunk beds, the lower is a double, the upper a single.
The Living Room has Two Couches.
Kitchen features Electric range with oven, 20 Cu Ft Refrigerator, Microwave, Mr Coffee - Coffee Maker, Pots and Pans, Griddle, lots of cups, plates, silverware.
Bath is small 3/4 bath with shower. The Water Heater is under the sink and is about 12 gallons so no Hollywood showers.
TV - ROKU 2018 32" 6 local AIR Channels CBS, FOX, METV .plus dozens of Channels on ROKU & PLUTO. The desk in the LR has a few board games. Scrabble, cards, checkers, and monopoly. There is a vacuum, a couple brooms, and a few cleaning products. Charcoal Grill.
Wood stove for heat. 3 Fans , The Cottage is in the shade, being 2/3 mile from Lake Michigan , generally, air temperatures are 10 degrees cooler than inland 10 miles.
July 2019 Update. I bought a new window unit for one bedroom for June to Sept.

Fire pit on roadside plus one by the water. State land across the channel for free firewood or several places in the area sell bundles starting at $3.
There are 5 Deck chairs, a couple beach chairs under the bunk beds.
14' Sea Nymph "R" Aluminum row boat & oars included with optional HONDA 5 HP Outboard. ($90 per stay for the outboard ). Coleman Canoe and paddles included. 3 coast guard approved flotation Seat cushions and 6 life vests (3 are kids sizes) .

Duration of Stay.
July and part of August is the high demand and I rent Friday to Friday. Otherwise I am more flexable. I cannot rent for one night as I do not charge guests for maid service like most VRBO properties do. 4 out of 5 guests leave it like they found it less making the beds. That's my deal.

- Vacationrentals site cancelation policy is inaccurate. My real policy is I refund 100% if I can rent. I re-rent 80% of the time.

In 2018 I had one days notice for a cancelation. The guest and I both lost $550. Lose lose.

Great for a fetawya

Husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend. This cottage was perfect! Since our stay was out of season for the dunes, it was very quiet and just what we needed! Steve was great to communicate with!!

little adventure trip :)

cabin is clean and homey :) host is on it with communication. also left journals of other guests who have stayed there the last 30 years so that’s neat :) definitely pay the extra charge for the boat. it’s so fun. and don’t be apprehensive , steve will help you out if you’re unsure on how to get the boat going. lots of wildlife across the water just from the deck. we will be going back :) short 3 minute drive to lake michigan with public beach. also saw a trail between the rental and the public beach where you can head to the dunes. we stayed in october, so not much open for the season but can grab stuff in Hart. also in october, zero boats on silver lake except us :) so fun!!

Wonderful stay in Silver Lake

Steve’s property was just as described, it’s perfectly located near everything but still gives you a lovely quiet space to unwind in. The use of the rowboat was wonderful to take over to the dunes to spend the day.

Born and Raised in Shelby MI 15 minutes from Silver Lake.
Graduated GVSU 1978. Licensed Realtor and property manager since 1978. Married since 1981, two daughters and a grandson.

Why they chose this property

I grew up in Oceana County. As soon as we turned 16 and could drive, Silver Lake was the place to go in the Summer. I noted most cottage owners were 40-70+ years old; Not wanting to wait, I bought my cottage asap in 1977 when in college. Lots on Silver Lake Water Front were and still are cost prohibitive for me, however on the silver lake channel I could afford water front and have access to Silver Lake via boat.. My kids have fond memories of the summers at this cottage as well and many of their friends.
I appreciate my paying guests that pay my property taxes by renting the cottage.

What makes this property unique

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes are one of a kind. More specific to my place, The channel offers the option of taking the boat or canoe to a County park with 2 tables on the channel for a change from the popular Silver Lake dunes. Or keep going West to the dam. Kids or Adults alike will remember the little boat trips for a life time. One family told me the kids spent the whole week in the canoe.
