About this property

Prime Kenai River Frontage with Private Lodging

Pristine view and just few steps from fishing right off the bank of the famous Kenai River. This property is very conveniently located in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula. Just minutes away from the small town conveniences in Sterling such as restaurants, groceries, etc. This property is a great base accommodation for your whole Alaskan vacation. From halibut and salmon fishing to white water rafting to bird watching, guided or not, this is it! You could be just about any where on the Kenai Peninsula and do just about anything you can dream of with very little effort and minimal time frames. From the "Bears Den", you are 11 miles from the heart of Soldotna's busy town center or 22 miles to the city of Kenai if you want to visit those areas. Also you are 90 minutes away from Seward or 110 minutes away from Homer the other direction by car on the Kenai Peninsula. You will feel like you are in the wilds of Alaska and yet relaxed with natural beauty all around.

The 145 feet of our private river bank front to fish off of with plenty of elbow room, view, or just relax and enjoy. There are 4 new daylight platform decks to fish and view from for ease and convenience. It also has picnic tables and benches, fire pit, fish cleaning table, and plenty of wild life to see. There is a your own full size freezer for your catch, satellite TV with a 55 inch HD flat screen, and wireless internet to stay in touch with. You will also have your own kitchenette for your fresh catch and for times you would rather just stay in. Also your own private newer washer and dryer for your convenience.

Our one bedroom vacation rental, "Bears Den", has accommodation for 4 to 5 people. The vacation rental has queen size bed and 2 twin size bunk beds. There is a very large comfortable couch and a rollout bed if necessary to suit your needs.

WE ALSO HAVE OUR WOLF DEN CABIN/BUNK HOUSE JUST STEPS AWAY TO ACCOMMODATE A LARGE FAMILY OR PARTY. These sleeping quarters come with a beautiful Kenai River view which will sleep 2 or 3 additional guests. This Wolf Den will not be available without the use of the Bears Den. This is because because the Wolf Den is a dry cabin without a bath or sink. It is warm, comfortable, and newly remodeled with a knotty pine interior and captain twin beds. It also has its own fridge and microwave and table and chairs for games and snacking. WI-FI, TV, AND INTERNET will be available.

The "Bears Den" is just one of our four vacation rental accommodations. We also have the "Eagles Nest" lodging on VRBO with the listing number #798980 in case you are interested in our property availability. And we have the "Klondike House" which is a 3 bedroom ranch home with a listing number #1801842. And then there is the brand new "Moose Cabin" also listed on VRBO with #3288577. These other properties may be of value in case you have a very large group or party and want the whole property to use. Or maybe if you have some calendar or scheduling issues.

We are able to help you customize a package of adventures and side trips during your stay for you. We want you to have a great time and wonderful memories.

Beautiful property on Kenai River!
We had an amazing time living in Alaska and staying in Bears Den for two months during the winter. Ron and Katya are welcoming hosts. They ensured we were comfortable and had everything during our long winter stay. Bears Den, a one-bedroom cabin, worked out perfectly for us. Both of us worked remotely from the cabin. The Internet connection was reliable, and we had no outages during our stay. The kitchen in the cabin is small, but it was convenient and had everything for us to cook dinner almost every day. It was warm and cozy inside the Bears Den during cold winter nights. Eagle’s Eye property is located within walking distance of a local supermarket. This was very convenient when we ran out of ingredients for breakfast or dinner and did not need to drive to Soldotna. The best part of Bears Den is the view. It was calming and meditating to look at the half-frozen Kenai River with Bold Eagles flying back and forth over it. We did not want to leave and can’t wait to return there again.

AHMAZING.
There aren’t words enough to describe this piece of paradise - and the hospitality that comes with it. This was our first trip to Alaska for fishing and Ron made sure we were well aware of our options, timing for booking adventures, etc. I honestly have never met hosts that offered so much for a stay. The accommodations were perfect - and such a gorgeous setting. We are hoping we will make it back - and this is where we’ll stay!

A piece of heaven on the Kenai
This trip was our second stay at Eagles Nest and we enjoyed it even more the second time around. We stayed in 2016 and again this year. The owners have made so many improvements including an awesome fire pit pavilion that is mosquito proof and can seat two dozen people comfortably. WOW. It was amazing. Ron is so attentive and cares for the property so well! I swear it was spotless. My wife was so impressed with how clean it was. Thanks to Ron and Katya for another great stay. See you again soon!

Our Journey to the Kenai River: A Tale of Love, Exploration, and Homecoming

As a Montana native and my wife hailing from Donetsk, Ukraine, our journey together over the last 25 years has been a testament to love, adventure, and the pursuit of a dream. Celebrating a quarter of a century of marriage, we've been incredibly fortunate to find and make our home on this prime piece of Kenai River property, embodying the essence of the Alaskan spirit we've grown to cherish deeply.

Our path to this beautiful estate wasn't swift; it was a deliberate quest that spanned over a decade. We searched tirelessly across the Kenai Peninsula for a place that felt like it was truly meant for us—a place where we could envision spending our golden years. This pursuit was driven by more than just the desire for a scenic backdrop; it was about finding a location that resonated with our souls, where the serene beauty of nature and the vibrant wildlife could serve as daily reminders of life's incredible wonders.

Having now called this place home for so many years, we reflect on our decision with no regrets, only gratitude. Our life here, on the brink of retirement, is everything we hoped for and more. The Alaskan lifestyle, with its promise of tranquility, adventure, and the raw beauty of the wilderness, has been more rewarding than we could have ever imagined.

This property isn't just land to us; it's a culmination of dreams, a sanctuary where we've spent nearly a decade of our lives, and a testament to our journey together. Living here, we've embraced the rhythms of the Kenai River, the changing seasons, and the wildlife that shares our space, enriching our lives beyond measure.

As we continue to build our life here, each day is a new chapter in our ongoing adventure in Alaska. Our love for this place and for each other only deepens with time, solidifying our belief that we found the perfect spot to spend our forever in the majestic wilds of the Kenai Peninsula.

Why they chose this property

This is our retirement property that we have been working for our entire adult lives. We have been Alaskans for 45 years and just love the Kenai Peninsula. We call it a "Little Piece of Heaven". This property is one of the oldest established fishing spots on the Kenai River from back in the days of the Russian Trade. There still exists the old Russian Trail Head on our property. We wanted to have a great location for fishing. And this is where so much of the early Kenai River fishing started.

What makes this property unique

We have almost 2 acres of prime land to enjoy year round. It was love at first site here with my wife and I. I still remember the day we first set eyes on this property. A lone Eagle greeted us right in front of our picture window and it talked loudly for several minutes. And now over the years we have been here we see why they love it here. Lots of food for them and wonderful conditions to mate and raise their young.
Our property has the perfect views of the Kenai River and all the mountains around us. Just the right amount of easy trail down to the fishing hole just in front of our home. There is a never ending life from the wilds of Alaska to see each day. We can see the King Salmon nesting and breaking water just in front and along our side of the river. Eagles galore about the area as well as so many other birds. There is always some thing to look at or do here. Not a dull life living here. It is relaxing though.
