4 bedroom barn conversion that sleeps 11 & 5 bedroom farmhouse that sleeps 11

Courthouse Farm is situated on the outskirts of the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, in the peaceful and picturesque Marshwood Vale.

Courthouse Dairy is barn conversion from the original cowstall and dairy, the conversion was completed in July 2003. It has a large kitchen and lounge with the dining area in the conservatory that leads into an enclosed garden. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms for 11 people to use in comfort. Courthouse Farmhouse is an L shaped property which sleeps 11 in 5 bedrooms and has 3 bathroom, open plan kitchen/diner and large conservatory/lounge. Large fully enclosed lawned garden.

There is a shared games barn with alley skittles, table tennis, pool and snooker tables and basket ball net.



Courthouse Dairy and Farmhouse are single storey dwellings, and so is ideal for accompanied disabled, elderly, children and families.

All have off road parking.

Both Courthouse properties can be let seperately to sleep 11 each or together for large groups to sleep 22.

Guests are welcome to come to the main farm to watch the robotic milking, see baby calves, beef animals, sheep, and dogs. Lambing is usually between March and May. Watch sheep and cattle in the fields in spring and summer out over the garden fence. We also grow winter wheat, spring barley, forage maize and various crops for animal feed. We are inspected annually for ABM/FABBL Beef and Lambs Scheme and NDFAS for milk production.

Directions to Courthouse Dairy and Farmhouse

On the A35 between Bridport and Charmouth at Morcombelake, turn off to Whitchurch Canonicorum near Artwave. Follow this road for about 1 mile until a four cross road, here turn right and go past the Old Village School, now the Village Hall. Continue until you come to a turning on the left marked Bettiscombe and Marshwood, opposite the Berehayes Holiday Cottages. Take this left turn and Courthouse Farm is approximately 150 meters up this road on the left. Go into the yard and the Dairy on the right nearest the lane, parking is to the side of the house. The farmhouse is on the left through the double gates

When using Sat Nav put in Whitchurch Canonicorum via A35 otherwise you travel through lots of lanes.

The Dairy is a single storey barn conversion from the obsolete cow stall and dairy at Courthouse Farm. All the original beams and trusses have been preserved and incorporated in the ceilings and the old windows and doors have been replaced by wooden stained doors and wooden windows with double glazing. A wood burning stove with a large red brick fireplace installed for the ‘olde world’ feel. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms, an easy modern well equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. There are garden chairs, table and bbq. Plenty of parking spaces are beside the house. There is a ramp to the front door and entrance lobby, leading to the lounge area. NEW FOR JUNE 1ST 2016 - HOT TUB ON THE PATIO.

I rented Courthouse Dairy for five days in February for my family to attend a West Dorset wedding. The accomodation was exactly as advertised, spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Easy for our wheelchair user too. Excellent heating system and the woodburning stove was extra luxury.

Outside there was masses of safe parking and plenty of space for the children to play. The games room was great fun.

We could all eat together round the big dining table. We ordered fish pies from the friendly village pub for the Friday night, and they were delivered ready for us to pop in the oven. We made good use of the shops just up the hill, the Post Office for our papers, Moores for fresh bread (the walnut bread is just so good) and the big farm shop for everything else.

We realised how much there is to see and do in the local area, and we would definitely come back to the same property and enjoy a couple of weeks in the summer.

Great property, lots to do!

The property was easy to find from the directions and close to the A35 to get to other locations. Beautifully placed in the countryside but not so far out of the way to be inconvenient. The property was exactly as described on the website and everything was functioning properly. The kitchen/lounge space was a great size and very comfortable for 10 people. A wonderful venue for a group of friends.

Granny weekend

I had a lovely weekend with two friends and our grandchildren. The accommodation was lovely and very well equipped and spacious. It was a very relaxing weekend with lots of garden space for the grandchildren to play. Location was great with the seaside only a short drive away. The only downside for me personally was the fact that you had the worry of taking all your bed linen which I have never had to do in self catering accommodation and I think this should be included in the price. I would definitely go there again though and it is ideal for larger parties. Some children's outside play equipment would be a good addition to the property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the comments. We offer bedding as an optional extra so people on tight budgets can bring there own to keep costs down. The games barn has a hot tub, alley skittles, table tennis, pool tables, darts board and basketball ring. There is a children play area with swings and slides behind the hall/old school in the village.

Lovey place and area to stay

My extended family stayed at the Dairy and Cottage at Courthouse farm for the weekend of my wedding to a 'local lass' in the St Candida and Holy Cross Church in the village. The accommodation was very clean and spacious with good gardens and games barn for the children to play in. Also very well equipped with everything we needed for all 18 of us. Lovely area with friendly pub, historic church, village hall and childrens playground in the village. Perfectly based with lots to see and do locally with great beaches and fossil hunting at Charmourth and Lyme Regis. Lots of places to visit with various leaflets in the house to help you decide.

Near World Heritage Site Coast, Ideal for beaches, fossill hunting, walking coastal paths, country lanes and footpaths. Riding, golf and water sports nearby. Touring Dorset, Devon and Somerset. On Sustran cycle route.

Ideal for visiting Forde Abbey, Swannery and village of Abbotsbury, Chesil Beach, West Bay, Lyme Regis, Charmouth beach and Heritage Centre, also the markets towns of Axminster and Bridport. Look at the well known Church in Whitchurch Canonicorum with its own patron saint buried there.

Come to some of the village activities like the Flower Show, annual Church Fete, Farmhouse Breakfast, Cream Teas plus many more..

On converting we tried to keep the same window and door openings although some had to be made a little wider. We have kept the character with it being open plan with exposed beams where ever possible.
