This quiet Dales village is of ancient origin, with a stone circle dating back to the Bronze Age and having been the site of a monastic settlement in the 12th Century. Today it is popular with walkers and steam railway enthusiasts who come to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside and the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, with its award-winning authentic station buildings and steam trains. Embsay is also famous for it's crag, which presides over the village and Embsay reservoir. The reservoir is popular with walkers and sailors and there is a Sailing Club based here. Billy Bob's ice-cream parlour is 5 minutes drive away and very popular for families with children as they can eat and have fun in their play barns. There are 2 pubs in the village and both serve excellent food. The Old Mill in the village centre boasts a needlecraft centre and coffee shop, whilst all the amenities and attractions of the lively bustling market town of Skipton famous for its Medieval Castle and canal network are all close at hand. Nearby are lots of popular places to visit, including Bolton Abbey, Kilnsey, Grassington and Bronte Country making this an ideal location for a wonderful Dales holiday.

Why Victoria Alderson chose Embsay

We bought this property and renovated it ourselves. Its such a bright spacious house we knew it would be perfect for a holiday let as it lends its self to socialising and entertaining with all that the Yorkshire Dales has got to offer on the door step. We've made Blue Dales a home from home with elements of boutique hotel thrown in for a bit of added luxury. When the sun shines the garden is a sun trap front and rear, perfect for al fresco dining.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house was absolutely amazing! It looks stunning, in fact we are now planning to redecorate our house in a similar style now we are back home! Your art work is lovely, Victoria, and really sets a nice tone to the place.

Everything was fantastic thank you. We have been to Billy Bob's and around Skipton Castle and the local pub for a lovely meal. There was so much to do we will definitely be back. The children loved the games room and it was hard to get them out of it, in fact they are already asking when we will be returning.

We would highly recommend Blue Dales to future guests. Thank you Victoria, we had a wonderful holiday and thank you for the treats.

Fabulous place to stay in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales

  • 5 of 5

Blue Dales is a terrific property, absolutely living up to the strong impression presented through the images on the website.

Equally Victoria is a excellent host / owner - passing by to ensure guests have settled in and know how to contact her should the need arise, whilst allowing them to discover all that the property and the local area has to offer.

Amazing property

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay with 4 generations of the family. Something for everyone, games consoles for the kids, comfortable areas for the older generation and great location for food, steam railway and Skipton town centre.

Will definitely be back.

Lovely place to stay and we love Skipton. Dog enjoyed the long walks. Ideally situated for local towns so enjoyed by all.

The property had plenty of space for the 3 of us and the Dog.

Owner's Response: Fantastic to hear you loved the house and your stay in Embsay. The house is very generously proportioned and we are especially pleased to be able to afford our guests with the luxury of space for their holiday. You are my first 4/5 star review (down graded because there was no milk in the fridge) I do not supply milk at the holiday let, but do offer other complimentary goodies (which you received). I am glad on all other counts you found Blue Dales to be lovely. Kind regards Victoria

Beautiful house perfect for me family of husband and two daughters ages 5 and 2.

  • 5 of 5

We needed a break after New Year so booked Victoria's place and it was perfect. It is a modern house which is recently renovated or certainly feels like it is located within an estate in a small village outside Skipton. Very quiet but lots of lovely walks and the Games room was perfect with the rainy British weather. The house is well equipped and had everything we needed with Victoria been the perfect host.

The local area had lots to do and we could keep our kids entertained.

Thankyou

Great accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Blue dales for 2 nights with friends between xmas and new year, the house is beautiful. Its like a home from home and is very comfortable. The area is picturesque especially when its snowed. We visited the Elm Tree pub for drinks and food which was very welcoming. Overall would recommend to others and would definitely book again.
