3 Bedroom luxury villa with 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6

This is a wonderful villa on one of the largest plots in Shangrila Park, Playa Blanca. It is one of few with an official, legal tourist licence. A very large patio with covered pergola offers shade and privacy, with outdoor dining using the integrated barbecue. A second small patio with built-in Canary bench seat is outside the master bedroom. A secluded roof terrace provides a further private sun area with wonderful views to Montana Roja and across to Fuerteventura. Shangrila Park is a quiet community with one of largest pools on the island. A tennis court is available as well as a number of communal open 'play areas' on the complex.

This property has been freshly decorated by the owners, and includes access to free basic terrestrial Spanish TV (with some English & German channels), and wifi internet (also available via 42' internet/SMART TV). A second TV & DVD is wall mounted in the second bedroom. There is a wide selection of DVD and reading materials.

3 x adult bicycles and a selection of children's toys are provided for the use of guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, microwave, toaster and indoor and outdoor crockery.

All linen and towels are provided - local cleaning and maintenance contacts are on-site.

A small shop is available on the complex and The nearest supermarket, bars and restaurants are a 10 minute walk away.

About Graham & Anne Cook

We purchased our home after traveling to Lanzarote with our daughter before her first birthday! She has grown up there and been every year since!

Graham & Anne Cook purchased this villa in 1999

Why Graham & Anne Cook chose Playa Blanca

We loved the unusual nature of the Moroccan style villas and the quiet location, nearby the rugged coastline.

What makes this villa unique

These Moroccan style villas with domed roofs and formal chimneys (barbecues) are the only ones of their type on the island. The complex also has its own on-site shop.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Back safe and sound. Just a quick note just to say thanks for the villa.

Did 'everything it said on the tin' as it were, and we'll have no problem

recommending it. Might be back next year !

Just a quick message to say thank you for letting us stay in your lovely Lanzarote villa , we all really enjoyed the holiday and didn't want to come home ! We now know why your neighbours have emigrated there !

Everything was fine , your instructions were spot on ,

Thanks again ,

Everything you need for a holiday in the sun

  • 5 of 5

We loved our holiday experience. Firstly, the organisation was excellent for our arrival and checkout and instructions to find the property. Everything we wanted was in the property and was very clean. It was also useful to have a small supermarket nearby.

There's a couple of bars and some restaurants a 15 minute walk away and larger supermarkets.

It was lovely weather so we relaxed at the property for a few days and the

BBQ was very efficient.

We then enjoyed walking along the paved coastal path into Playa Blanca and walking back or returning on the bus, walking up the Montana Rosa or cycling to the Marina. A quiet relaxing location, just wish we could have stayed longer .

Nice villa, out of town quiet location, pool cold but that’s the norm, lack of cleaning equipment

  • 4 of 5

I would return.

Overall the villa is really nice, it’s clean, good layout and spacious rooms. Good value I think. If I was being picky..... The bathrooms could do with a little TLC, like someone else mentioned the toilet holder is fragile, the bath has rust stains but it’s all perfectly fine and works. It’s quite open around the villa outside (we had to supervise the boys outside all the time as they could just wander down the paths and off) but we were lucky hardly anyone was around so it didn’t matter too much. Good selection of kitchen utensils, and loads of spare bedding to use which you need when it’s hot. Again if being picky I would say it was frustrating that no cleaning supplies are provided, not even one bottle of bleach or even a cloth to wipe surfaces in the kitchen. We stayed 10 days and we needed to clean floors and surfaces and toilets after a few days of the beach and messy boys(!) and when I asked if there were any around or if a cleaner was coming after the first week the owner politely said it was an entry and exit clean only and I should buy some products. Loads of people like us must have bought cloths and bleach and toilet rolls and washing up liquid, bin bags etc over the course of the time so it seems a shame they aren’t shared for all?! Or even just bought by the owner. It was very basic in that respect. It’s amazing how sand and stones and generally food bits get everywhere and you need to clean and that then attracts the inevitable cockroach. If I had known I would have brought from home rather than buying big bottles and big packs of stuff that we only needed small amounts of. We gave all the leftovers to a neighbour we met for their holiday home. In other properties we have stayed we have had plenty of bin bags, bleach, wipes, cloths, washing up liquid, soaps, toilet cleaner, toilet roll, and even extras like a bottle of water on arrival and washing powder. It all makes a difference. It’s a small point in what was overall a lovely holiday and I would return (with some supplies!). The weather was amazing. the pool was freezing we used the beach and the heated pools at the kiko club. We often had to chase a few over friendly cats out, my children loved them but I wasn’t too keen on sharing a bed. great area loads to do and great space

attractive house in quite postion large shared pool not busy 10min walk to rocky sea 30min to beach

  • 4 of 5

This house is set well out of Playa Blanca which makes it quiet but also a long way from restaurants shops and town beaches. We hired a car to let us shop easily and to explore the island. The house had a few faults, a lu paper holder that fell off the wall straight away, a loose bed head which was annoying. Both bathrooms looked a bit dated , the bath had a chip in it the grouting was dirty and needed renewing around the bath and the shower. The microwave was very rusty under the plate and there were dirty oven trays in the oven. None of these things spoilt our holiday but I feel they should be pointed out.

The beds were comfortable and plenty of room for storing clothes. The fans were very welcome. In October we had no problem with mosquitos.

We spent a lot of time out of doors, breakfast and barbecued some evenings. The barbecue grill was left dirty and took a long time to clean. We loved sitting up on the roof and enjoyed seeing the sunsets and the moon rise above the volcano.

There was no information about whether we could drink the tap water or not. it would have been helpful to have been told. One neighbour said yes and one said no! We ended up buying all our drinking water. The on site shop was useful for some things.Overall we really enjoyed our stay and discovering a very interesting Island.

Owner's Response: Hi Gill - thanks for posting this. We've already addressed a number of the issues you mention - as you can appreciate some of these may have been from previous visitors and wouldn't show up in our normal exit checks. What can look like 'dirty' grouting is actually the result of the fairly continual red dust blowing across Lanzarote - I can assure visitors it is cleaned for every guest, and regularly refreshed. We'll be there in a couple of weeks so it will get another refresh then ;) It sounds like the microwave needs replacing which we will do - again we hope guests leave the oven in as clean a condition as possible, and we will dispose of any oven trays that cannot be properly cleaned. The barbecue grill is permanently outside so will never look clean or new in this climate ;) The tap water is certainly clean enough to drink - bottled water is more of a taste preference! I am glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you come back again : thanks Graham

We had a fantastic holiday at the villa

  • 4 of 5

Would recommend this villa to anyone was all we needed. A few suggestions from myself & friends. Beach towels provided, new microwave, shower tray in ensuite needs attention as water spills onto floor could easily slip & a gate from Carpark to enter villa as when been out for day or shopping carrying heavy bags. We will definitely return. The outside was great be BBQ few evening. There was plenty cooking utensils & crockery

Owner's Response: Thanks Anne - I appreciate your comments & hope to welcome you back! We don't supply beach towels and state this in the booking contract as it is too difficult to keep these clean & fresh for visitors. We'll look at the en-suite shower tray. The main car park is at the other end of the complex but it is possible to walk around a couple of houses for a short cut to the side road if parked there ;) Graham

Playa Blanca is in the South of the island and boasts a wonderful area of beaches, shops, dramatic scenery, restaurants, and bars. The town also boasts a new marina as well as the original port where you can reach Fuerteventura for a short day trip. Shangrila Park is on the edge of Playa Blanca next to Montana Roja and the town centre can be reached in 5 minutes by car, 10 minutes by local bus service, or 15 to 20 minutes by bicycle on the wonderful new promenade by the coast. Shangrila Park is a vehicle free community (free parking is provided on-site) with the only collection of Moroccan style detached single-storey villas and apartments on the island. Coffee shops, bars, supermarkets, buses and taxis can be accessed within 10 minutes walk but a car is the best way to explore the whole of this wonderful island during your stay. Residents and visitors of Shangrila Park can enjoy free access to tennis courts, open communal play areas, and large pool and an on-site mini market shop.

Other Activities: a new water park is open, easily accessible by the bus service or a round a 20 minute walk from the house.

Golf: There are two golf courses already on Lanzarote with a third under construction nearby in Playa Blanca. A day trip to Fuerteventura by ferry from Playa Blanca provides another option for a day's golf.
