A perfect place, with a perfect host in Francesca, to relax or to sightsee or both.
A fabulous two weeks at Podero Luchiana in gorgeous Umbrian Amelia for our group of 4 x adults. What can we say, the apartment was perfect, the garden/grounds are well kept, the pool is perfect, and essential, when the temperatures hits 35 degrees day after day.
Francesca is a wonderful host, and took care of us from the moment we arrived until we left. Nothing was too much trouble for her be that answering questions about where to visit or booking a restaurant.
The upstairs apartment is perfect for two couples or a family. The bedrooms are big and spacious will all the storage you’ll need. The two ensuites ensure perfect privacy. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you’ll need. The dining/sitting area is simply enormous.
Outside the grounds are vast, with numerous places to play and/or relax, seek
or hide from the sun and a haven for wildlife. Each flat has its own outside table and chairs, the upstairs flat benefiting from an additional suite of furniture on the landing. There are a couple of BBQs, one smallish portable one and one huge fixed one , wood is freely available. The big BBQ is great for large family meals.
The pool is alongside the house down a steepish incline/steps. The pool area is daily maintained by Francesca’s team . Its big enough for 3 x groups to use with ease, plenty of chairs, sun beds, parasols and selection of buoyancy aids for the little ones. We used the pool net to remove bugs as and when needed.
Suggestions:
Bring plenty of bug spray and bite cream, the midges and mosquitoes are active and viscous in the evening, but the sprays do work.
Bring plenty of sun cream. The pool gets the sun all days long, although you can seek shade easily.
You’ll need travel adapters with the small round pins (10amp?), not the ones used in France.
If you don’t like dogs/cats then be aware that Francesca has five dogs and one cat which greet and meet you daily. The three big dogs are very friendly, the two little dogs are shy so stay away.
The car hire at the Fiumicino airport is awful (and we were off peak!) We took two hours to clear the process! Not much you can do but accept it, if you can send the hirer ahead to grab a ticket for the queue then this may be an option. Be aware of additional hidden charges , that are not explained, that after a flight and queuingit’s easy to get caught out. They are not compulsory - especially the fuel charge
Overall: a fab holiday in fab place and fantastic hosts
