About this property

Spectacular Hope Town home, Waterfront, Lighthouse View, Perfect Spot for 2-8

Update! Making major progress with repairs! Still need inside finishing and new furnishings in the Dock House and twin bedroom but houses are intact and dry! Big issue now is waiting for power to come back to the island. Update December 2020 - because of Covid we haven't been able to get back to work and there still isn't power available. So we are chilling in Virginia (literally!) and anxiously awaiting power news and safe traveling conditions and can't wait to get back down! Thanks to Linda and Raymo for looking after the place while we can't!

We will be back! Hurricane Dorian hit all of the Abaco Islands and Hope Town was especially hard hit. Sadly our house was seriously damaged. Not sure when, but we WILL BE BACK! #HOPETOWNSTRONG!!!

Available together or separately, historic Harbour Lights and the all-new Dockhouse studio include all the modern conveniences while retaining Hope Town charm. Check your stress at the door (or the dock!) and prepare to relax and enjoy.

After a day of island exploring, snorkeling and/or diving the world's 3rd largest barrier reef, fishing, beaching or simply relaxing, you will find Harbour Lights and The Dockhouse the perfect spots to sit back and unwind with family and friends.

Both Harbour Lights and the Dockhouse have beautiful views of the famous Hope Town lighthouse, the harbour and the settlement. Enjoy the stunning 360 degree panoramic view from the "sky deck" where you can see from the Atlantic Ocean to the Sea of Abaco and everything in between! Sit back, relax, enjoy the sunset and stargaze on both deck levels (Main House).

The spacious main house sleeps 6 comfortably in 2 bedrooms with king beds and 1 bedroom with two twin beds. Each floor of the main house has a full bath. The cozy Dockhouse sleeps 2 in a queen bed, has a full bath, and is available to rent with the main house (for adults only) or separately. The fully equipped kitchen in the main house includes microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker and grinder, blender, UV-treated and filtered drinking water, full assortment of baking/cookware. The Dockhouse kitchenette has a small stove and refrigerator and cookware, coffeemaker and grinder, blender, and UV-treated and filtered drinking water.

Accessible only by boat, the property has its own private dock with 3.5 feet mean low water (MLW) and plenty of space for a large boat. If available (and it usually is), you may use our dinghy for trips across the harbour, but we strongly suggest renting a larger boat so you can get out into the Sea of Abaco and see the sights!

Paradise on Hope Town
The house is fantastic for larger families of groups traveling together. The dock is very easy to manage and the location can’t be beat. We loved everything about the property and hope to return shortly for some more great boating!!

A terrific trip
The dock house was perfect for two people. It’s location is ideal if you have a boat. When we stepped outside each morning we were quick to the amenities in Hopetown and the activities all around sea of abaco. Staying at Harborlights made us feel as if we were local residents. Being in the harbor was serene each evening and a nice break from the Wind and waves. We would love to return; harbor lights, hope town and the whole region are just great.

Amazing home in Hope Town Harbour!
We loved our stay at Peaceful Times! The home has everything you could ever need. The property manager and onsite manager where great and helpful. They even came over at 11pm to help with an issue without being asked. The home is a great location and very close to HopeTown. I would recommend having a boat to stay in the Abacos. This home was in a perfect location for our daily boat trips to surrounding islands!

About the host

Host profile image
We are Bob and Kim Williams and live in Fairfax County in Virginia. Both graduates of Virginia Tech, Bob is an engineer and Kim is a preschool teacher. Our daughter is the latest Hokie graduate in the family!

We have been visiting Abaco since 2002, have sailed extensively in the area, and decided it was a place we want to return to again and again. We fell in love with Harbour Lights when we first saw it in 2011 and decided to join the local community of Hope Town.

We have been working very hard to make Harbour Lights a comfortable, relaxing vacation home and hope you will love it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

When we thought about purchasing a home in Abaco, our goal was to find a comfortable home, close to the water but sheltered from the occasional hurricane. Being part of the Hope Town community was important and so was maintaining a feeling of privacy and tranquility. We wanted a house with rooms spacious enough to relax in, enough room to have a few friends join us, and island views that captivate. Because Harbour Lights needed work, we made extensive modifications to the house over the past two years making it one of the more distinctive homes in Hope Town.

The Dockhouse was a bonus. It is a complete home in itself, cozy enough for a honeymooning couple or for 2 additional guests if you already have 6 for the main house. Right on the water (the porch is 12 feet from the water at high tide!), it has a lovely porch that's perfect for enjoying your morning coffee and watching the harbour come to life.

We have wonderful on-sight caretakers who are there to help in an emergency or to answer questions about the houses.

We love that the house is only reachable by boat. It provides privacy, adds to the charm, and keeps us in tune with the happenings in the harbour. Need a gallon of milk? You get to drive across the harbour and enjoy the experience of island life as you should...from the water! A basic understanding of small boat handling is a must.

What makes this property unique

The spectacular decks on this house overlook beautiful Hope Town Harbour and the famous lighthouse. You can sit for hours watching the boats come and go, people running errands in their dinghies (not to mention the comings and goings of the super yachts!), and the tropical flowers and birds. With views that go all the way to the Atlantic, it never gets old. You can hear the church bells each day at noon and 6pm over the lapping of the water at the harbour's edge as well as the waves crashing on the Atlantic beach. Beaching is a 5 minute boat ride to town and a 1 block walk from the dinghy dock.

If you've had enough sun but still want to be outside, the covered porch is a wonderful place to have meals, or just sit and read in the porch swing. You can also sit on the dock in the early morning and look for turtles, dolphin, rays, lobster, fish, and the occasional nurse shark that visits Back Creek. Visibility is amazing in the harbour's crystal clear water.
