About this property

Cottage on the banks of the IJ

The cottage is located on the banks of the IJ, with a view of the water and the city. The house is at cycling distance of both Waterland and the center of Amsterdam within the Ring. Tram 26 is a 10-minute walk away. A tram leaves every 5 minutes. The travel time to Central Station is 10 minutes.
The house is in a somewhat isolated area which is being developed into a busy housing area in the coming decade. So unfortunately there may temporarily be some noise between 7am and 4pm due the building activities ( not in the weekends).
The cottage has an open kitchen with good facilities. A large bedroom with two single beds (both separately and together). In addition, a small bedroom with bunk beds. The cottage is suitable for two adults and two children. High chair and baby bed available. Separate bathroom with shower and toilet. Washing machine available.
The cottage has WIFI, radio and TV.
Outside you have a picnic table.
There is parking on site.
Check-in: 4.00 pm, check-out 11.00 am.

Beautiful and unusual house out of city centre
This is now our second visit and we found it just as lovely and restful as when we first stayed. The house is beautiful and light and offers a retreat from the busy city centre, with incredible views of the Ij, and cargo boats passing by. We loved walking across the nearby Oranjesluizen with our children and watching the boats go through the locks. There is an excellent team service to and from Central Station, and there is now a nearby ferry to cross to Sporenburg (one of the islands opposite). The island the house is on (Zeeburgereiland) is being built on now, but the house is well protected from this as it faces the opposite direction and is shielded by trees, so the building activity didn’t bother us at all. Maria is a thoughtful host and there was fresh food in the kitchen to get us started. Our children think we should give more than 5 stars but we can’t!

Lovely base for a family
We loved staying in the house, which felt like a home, and would highly recommend it to other families. The location was perfect for us as we were able to get out of the busy centre of Amsterdam and enjoy the peace and quiet. This was especially good for our children. Tram 26 makes it easy getting in and out of the centre . The view of the canal and city is excellent and we enjoyed watching the boats passing. The children loved the swing and playing in the garden. The host Maria was so kind to us, making sure we had everything we needed and sharing icecream and delicious blackberry sauce.

Nice house, beautiful views, friendly host
Stayed for a few days with wife and two young children. House had everything we needed for a short break. Quiet, peaceful location with beautiful views across the water. Fairly easy access to tram - 10min walk and then 10min on tram in to town. Campsite about 15min walk with a shop and nice bar/ restaurant. Maria and her husband were very friendly, welcoming hosts and had even got some fresh shopping in for us to last us the first couple of days, which was a really nice touch. Perfect base to explore the city from. Would definitely recommend.

Great location and ideal property
Maria was a delightful host, really accommodating with good suggestions for what to do in Amsterdam and provided so much food, which was amazing. Its in a lovely spot to watch the sunset as the barges come in and out of Amsterdam and a short walk and short tram from Central Station. We loved it and will be back. Thanks

Great cottage in a great city
We stayed in the cottage with our children (aged 11 and 8). It was nice to be a short tram ride out of town and the cottage was perfect for us. Maria was very friendly and helpful. We loved the cottage and we loved our time in Amsterdam.
