Disliked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
Very disappointing, too expensive for what you get - Be Aware
While view is stunning, we were left with the impression that the owner is providing bare minimum on services, supplies, upkeep and accommodation. Not what we expected based on what was advertised and for the price. We have stayed in many HomeAway properties, including a few in Spain, so we do have excellent comparisons. We were basically told by the property manager that they have all five star reviews so it's just us with the problems, but here are the facts, also shared with the manager.
Positives: A truly excellent view of the sea, house was clean, pool was clean. Manager responded after issues were raised to him.
Negatives:
(1) Cameras located throughout the interior of the house. We felt like we were being watched. I have not encountered cameras *in the house* in other properties. We were told security system was deactivated, but still creepy.
(2) House is advertised as having air conditioning. It has some air conditioning, true, but the house is not fully air conditioned. There is air conditioning in one bedroom which worked. There is another unit located in a hallway in lower level intended to cool the remaining bedrooms, but the downstairs bedroom did not cool off even with curtains closed during the day. Noise impacted sleep.
(3) Internet is there, true, but it works very poorly. So slow we couldn't do work. Tested speed, found it to be less than 6 mbps. Manager told us you can't get good speeds in Spain in hotels (what?) but this has not been the case in other houses for us.
(4) Amenities are as cheap as they come. Only very thin bath towels. No extra towels or bedding provided unless requested. Manager did bring beach towels to use outside after we enquired.
(5) White plastic lounge chairs were filthy. After we brought this to manager's attention, a cleaner came over on Sunday (next day to be fair) to wash them. Asked that we move out of the chairs we were laying on saying manager insisted he clean those too. Should have been done before arrival.
(6) Lock on a lower level door was broken when we arrived. Not safe. Contacted manager, who came over to repair same day. Should have been done before arrival. Why have elaborate security system with a broken lock?
(7) Instructions for checkin provided by email, no personal orientation or binder provided with instructions for house.
(8) Densely populated area
Very disappointed and not good holiday experience.
