Traditional Character Cottage with 4 bedrooms (sleeps 8) and 3 bathrooms

One of the most beautiful luxurious Cottages in the Cotswolds

Craigmoor Cottage is a large newly renovated and uniquely refurbished traditional Cotswold stone cottage built around 1800; located at the end of a quiet lane that leads directly onto the river Windrush.

Craigmoor Cottage sleeps a maximum of eight people, in four bedrooms, with three bathrooms. There is a lovely private garden at the front of the cottage and free street parking is usually available outside or close to the property. Moreover there is space for one car on the property grounds.

There is peaceful garden at the front that contains an outdoor table, with seating for four; as well as a charcoal barbecue. The garden gate leads out to the quiet country lane.

Additional information

Craigmoor has undergone complete renovation that was completed in February 2017. The cottage was refurbished to offer true luxury in keeping with its history with a plethora of traditional features such as oak beams and exposed Cotswold stonewalls.

Particular emphasis has been given to the finishings and the decorative items. Our aim is to provide a spacious, calming luxury cottage.

Living/dining room: This is large warm calming room with exposed Cotswold stonewalls full of traditional character; this is enhanced by the white painted beams and the exposed stained beams in the dining part of the living room. The room is covered with think 21 mm engineered oak flooring with a bespoke off white finish. The living room has a large L shape sofa; an elegant beautiful velvet armchair with a weather oak frame and a caned back. There is a Samsung TV with a built in satellite tuner. The oval dining table is a French provincial style, with a distressed effect finish, that sits eight. The rooms share a woven Jute carpet in a oatmeal colour. The walls are decorated in the living room with a set of four framed embroideries of family crest designs. The walls in the dining part of the room are decorated by a set of six botanical prints depicting tree leaves, framed in distressed black painted wooden frames. The private garden can be viewed from two large windows made from hardwood and toughened glass. A delightful grey effect sidetable crafted from solid oak. Finally in the dining area there is a European school, 19th century oil paining of a mountainous landscape.

Kitchen: The cottage benefits from a top of the range new Italian lacquered white kitchen with a white quartz worktop. The quartz worktop on one of the sides extends to form a breakfast bar which sits four. The kitchen galley contains a Mielle built in fridge, separate freezer, smug dishwasher, Hoover washer/dryer, kettle, large toaster and a Nespresso coffee maker.

There are tree bathrooms:

Family Bathroom (1): Dressed in natural stone, with a large bathtub by Villoroy Boch; an over head shower; Grohe taps; duravit toilet with soft closing seat; underfloor heating and a double basin. This bathroom serves the two bedrooms on the top floor.

Master En-suite bathroom (2) ; Dressed in natural stone with a regular bathtub (170x70); an overhead shower by Villeroy and Boch, Grohe taps, underfloor heating and a duravit toilet with a soft closing toilet seat; and underfloor heating.

Ground floor En-suite shower room (3): Dressed in natural stone with a large duravit shower tray and 8mm Merlin shower doors; Grohe taps; duravit soft closing toilet seat; and underfloor heating.

There are four bedrooms:

Bedroom 1: This en-suite bedroom offers privacy at night as it is on the ground floor behind the kitchen. It contains a gorgeous design of bunk beds with solid oak stair treads and a cupboard painted in an elegant Farrow and Ball colour. A single armoire in distressed painted finish with domed mirror front and a drawer below. Both beds have bedside shelves and reading lights. There is also a Samsung TV with a humax satellite tuner.

Bedroom 2: This en-suite bedroom is on the 1st floor with a tempur king size bed frame, a 19th century Swedish commode with three drawers boasting a distressed look; an armoire also 19th century French, traditionally grey painted with panelled door enclosing hanging space above a long drawer.

Bedroom 3: This is on the second floor with a king size bed, contains a chest early 20th century liberty style, limed oak and polychrome decorated with intricate phoenix carving; another oak chest also early 20th century and a Louis XV style armchair painted with grey silk upholstery on a short cabriole support.

Bedroom 4: This bedroom contains 2 single white beds. An elegant 19th century, French Napoleon III chest of drawers grey painted with four drawers, two long and two short. Two lamp tables with oak tops.

All modern facilities are available:

Duvet covers, sheets, pillow cases and towels

All the duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases are made from Egyptian Cotton with 400 Tread count, satin weave to create luxurious softness, subtle sheen and a silky touch that feels gorgeous against the skin. Moreover, the luxury pima cotton towels are soft and sumptuous with a wide border and bound edge.

Lovely house in a great location

We had a fantastic week over New Year. The location is great, 2 minutes into the centre of Bourton on the Water and the house has been very nicely decorated and furnished with high quality materials and furniture.

George the owner was very friendly and helpful and the cleaning team not only prepared the house to a spotless standard ready for our arrival but also accepted delivery of some shopping that we had ordered to be delivered on the wrong day !

I would have given 5 stars except for the fact that the house was really cold when we arrived. It soon warmed up but it would have been very nice if the cleaning team had put it on ready for us, especially as the weather had been so cold.

Other than that it was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it !

Perfect Bungalow for our Family

This was a perfect bungalow for our group of 8, with three children. Four bedrooms and three separate bathrooms allowed us to spread out. The bungalow is elegantly redone, from a first-class kitchen all the way down to quality bed linens. George is a responsive and great host. Bourton-on-the-Water is a lovely small village, best seen, I suspect, out of tourist season, as we did.

Beautiful cottage in a great location

Loved the property. It was great for our family weekend of 8 people. It’s decorated beautifully throughout and there was lots of room for us all. It only took a few minutes to walk to the local pubs, cafes and attractions. We loved our time here and would highly recommend.

Fantastic location, beautiful interior and luxurious finishing touches.....fabulous!

We have just got back from a girls weekend at Craigmoor Cottage celebrating my 40th Birthday. The cottage is stunning and has been renovated to a very high standard with great attention to detail. The beds were so comfortable I made a note of the mattress and will be buying one for home. The location is perfect, the centre of the village is on the doorstep, yet the road is off the main thoroughfare so is nice and peaceful. The lady next door was so helpful in advising us where to park when we arrived. All of the information provided prior to our visit was really helpfull in enabling us to plan our stay, specifically the advice to book a table if you are planning to eat out. We ate at 'The Croft' on the Saturday (2 minute walk) and the meal was lovely. Although the cottage has been renovated and modernised to a high standard it still retains the charm and cosyness of a country cottage. It was clean and well equipped, and having stayed in many other holiday cottages this was one of the best. Would definitely recommend and will be returning myself.

Fantastic Holiday Home

We stayed at this lovely cottage in August. Location was terrific in the middle of the town very close to the famous river but tucked away in a quiet location. The house was spotlessly clean, luxurious and well appointed. There was plenty of space for our mixed aged group and the kids really loved the bunk beds. We loved our time there so much that we extended our stay and George arranged this seemlessly. This is a great place to stay to explore the Cotswolds.

Beautiful country property!

Great House! Previous reviews and description of house are very accurate. Stayed here in August 2017 with family of 4, kids 11 and 14 and both grandmothers. All very happy with accommodations and cleanliness of house!! We used house as a central point , and travelled throughout area for 4 days. Note that streets are very narrow getting to house and was difficult with our large van to maneuver the street and parking, but you can park on Main Village Street from 1700-1000 So we left car there every night which was much easier to park. Also, we made reservations each day in advance for dinner because restaurants are small and hard to accommodate 6 people without notice. Last comment, the town closes down at 5 PM (1700) every day so when we got back from our daily trips each day, we were unable to explore our little village besides the restaurants. It seems like a really cute town .

Why George chose Bourton-on-the-Water

The property has been completely refurbished over the past 10-12 months. The works have been completed in February/March 2017. I have been at the property almost every day throughout this period. I believe that the quality of the work, the finish, as well as the furnishing are exceptional. We have used thick engineered floor, quartz worktops, natural stone in the kitchen, entrance hall and the bathrooms, underfloor heating, fitted a pressurised hot water system, completely rewired the cottage etc. I am honestly not sure if there is a market for a property of this quality as I could not find anything that would be comparable to it in the area. I look forward to receive feedback from guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Bourton-on-the-Water is often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", due to its character and beauty. Although it is one of the most popular tourist spots, this property offers quiet tranquillity. Situated in one of the most elegant areas of Bourton-on-the-Water as it overlooks a large green and all of the surrounding properties are old traditional Cotswold stone cottages. It is also perfectly located for exploring other beautiful villages and towns in the Cotswolds.

The cottage is at the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water with pedestrian access to the High Street, the footbridges and the footpath along side the River Windrush. In addition to the lovely walks in the village centre, the cottage also boasts the benefit of several public footpaths, two of which begin opposite the cottage. Moreover, numerous shops, pubs and restaurants, including the village supermarket are located a short walk away.

The cottage is an ideal option for friends or families seeking a relaxing break in a beautiful truly luxurious traditional cottage in a stunning Cotswold village.

If you’ve got a SatNav then please input the cottage’s postcode of GL54 2DW, which should take you on the fastest route. Beware that some SatNavs will show the cottage diagonaly across from Craigmoor's actual location.

Otherwise, once you reach Clapton Row drive past Cotwolds pottery and once you reach an open green space, the cottage is on your left. There is a sign with the name of the cottage on the front metal gate.
