About this property

Charming Seafront Apartment Blue with stunning seaview, near Split

Refurbished Studio Apartment in a traditional old stone house in the village of Kastel Kambelovac, conveniently located between Split and Trogir on the beautiful Dalmatian Coast of Croatia.

The apartment is located in a traditional old stone house which has been recently refurbished. We did our best to preserve the typical character of Dalmatian architecture on the outside, however the apartment is modern and equipped to a good standard on the inside. The Blue Studio has a double bed for 2 adults.

Located on the sea front, literally 5m from the sea with unobstructed views, and about 50m from the nearest beach. Split, Croatia's second largest city and capital of Dalmatia Region, is only 25 min away by local bus, and so is Trogir, another beautiful resort going North from Kastela. The attractions of Kaštel Kambelovac include nice beaches, authentic Dalmatian restaurants, a beautiful seaside promenade and the nearby hill Kozjak – hillwalkers heaven. Short airport transfer (approx. 15 min) and excellent location between Split and Trogir make this fishing village a relaxing yet very convenient holiday destination.

We are having trouble reviewing this property, one the one hand it is well positioned for travel, local bars etc, the balcony gives an amazing view etc etc as per other reviews, but I was disappointed on first walking into the apartment, it seemed a lot darker, dingy and less colourful than the photos portrayed and this stayed with me all through our stay and did reduce my enjoyment of this property. I feel the photos were taken some time ago as the wall paintwork is quite marked and scruffy as is the kitchen worktop plastic. The whole place could do with a little tlc. The property is on the third floor (which gives such a good view) accessed by an internal wooden spiral staircase, so not recommended for those with physical impairments. Having said the negatives I would return to this property again as they were outweighed by the positives.

Amazing view
It may be cosy inside but believe me you will be spending most of your time at the apartment sitting on the balcony looking at the stunning views with a cold beer and thinking what a great place. We stayed for nine nights in the middle of May just before the season gets going so it wasn't too busy and the nearby restaurant was fantasic and very reasonable. The promenade outside goes both ways and you can walk for miles through the small towns along this coast and we did most days. Just to mention our host Tea what a very helpful lady and arranging a day trip with Zeljko our guide to the National Park KrKa with stops at Sibenik and Primosten, what a day. We even managed days out on our own getting the 37 bus to Split one day and the same bus going in the opposite direction to Trogir a few days later both worthy of a visit. Finishing I do have to say that the weather was fantasic even though we had a couple of thunderstorms but they can be amazing to watch. I have a feeling that we might be returning.

Good value and lovely view
This is a small studio apartment, but it has everything you need. Lovely view from the balcony and good value for money. Tea was very helpful. Small problem with ants but we were given some powder and this was soon sorted. PS - Stairs are quite steep as on the third floor.

Good place for car-free solo travellers
I stayed at the Blue Studio for a month on a working holiday in the winter. The space is very good for someone who may want to spend a large portion of the day time as well indoors. There is good natural light, a sea view, and the sit-out on the balcony is fantastic, I enjoyed many sunsets here. A few specifics in the winter: unlike more touristy parts of the Dalmatian coast Kastela is also a working town and set of fishing villages. I found enough restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and super markets open within walking distance (of course not all are open, but enough of them). I went around a bit in the province and can say that many places while well-sorted for holiday homes may struggle to provide services for car-free visitors as well as Kastela does in the winter. This is one of the biggest pluses if you choose this place. The studio itself: it is compact but makes good use of space to provide a wide and comfortable bed, and relaxed lounge sofa in the 'living' area. The table/desk, stools and chairs are all light, so can be pulled around to suit your mood (or depending on the intensity of the sun shining through the balcony door!). The bathroom is compact but sufficient. On the kitchen front is where it gets tricky (or tiring) after the first 2 weeks. You have to be very disciplined, patient, and efficient to cook meals in this kitchen. It is possible of course, with some creative thinking. WiFi is good. It is quiet (no construction noise or empty plots nearby, again not everywhere around is so lucky, lots of holiday homes get built or renovated in the winter). The housekeeper is on hand around the corner to assist in case of issues. The off season price which I paid (less than £300 for the month) is good value. The bus to Split takes 30 minutes and stops 2 minutes from the house, running every 20 minutes until 11pm. On the other side the airport is 15 minutes away. The Kastela villages (7 of them, this one is bang in the middle) are all wonderful, to walk through, sip a coffee at or to enjoy a run along the coast. All the locals were very friendly to the only brown-skinned person in the country :-P A tip: there is Uber in Split, and it is cheap!

I've been working in the Travel Industry for the last 22 years. I have travel extensively around the world (over 60 countries!) but I keep going back to the Adriatic coastline, one of my favourite spots in the world. Born in Argentina but have been living in Dublin for the past 18 years. Tea the housekeeper lives nearby and she is most helpful and will be at hand for anything you need.
