Sleeping up to 12, Somers Hiscott is a house for all seasons, and is perfect for both families and friends. The dog friendly house enjoys countryside views and benefits from its own large terrace where summer BBQ's can be enjoyed and a rear garden laid to lawn.
Inside, the house is split over two levels. Throughout the ground floor guests can benefit from underfloor heating, which is also present in every bathroom.
The large lounge overlooks the terrace and features a wonderful new wood-burning stove. There are also comfy sofas, bean bags and a 55'' flat screen, wall-mounted 76" smart TV.
The kitchen/diner is situated at the heart of the house and is packed full of excellent appliances. The kitchen with its black slate floors and marble work surfaces has been equipped with an electric range cooker, an American style fridge/freezer with ice dispenser and filtered water, a dishwasher, a wine fridge, a coffee machine, bread maker an ice-cream maker and much, much more. The dining area has a lovely large wood table that easily seats up to 12 and is suitable for all occasions. There is a wall mounted flat screen TV in the kitchen/diner.
There are six good sized bedrooms at Somers Hiscott. Five of these, are on the 1st floor. They feature Hypnos zip and link beds (allowing either super-king or twin bed configuration). This provides a huge amount of flexibility. Three of these bedrooms have luxury en-suite shower rooms whilst the other two share whilst the other two bedrooms share the large family bathroom fitted with both a Villeroy and Boch bath and a separate walk in shower. On the ground floor bedroom 6 has a king size size bed. It is ideal for guests with limited mobility. It too, has an en-suite with walk in shower.
Somers Hiscott sits within a large private estate that includes a designated County Wildlife Site. The beautiful ancient woods cover a large proportion of the estate and are perfect for leisurely walks. In the spring the bluebells create a wonderful blue carpet. There is also a small lake where you can spend time spotting the local wildlife - look out for the kingfisher as well as an orchard and several paddocks. Many other native wildlife, including deer, buzzards, otters, foxes and rabbits can often be seen.
Somers Hiscott is in a lovely location for exploring North Devon. Just a few miles away is Barnstaple, North Devon's largest town and home to several well known shops, restaurants, a cinema and a theatre. The beautiful beaches of Woolacombe, Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands and Croyde are also within easy reach making trips to the seaside a must.
Many activities can be enjoyed when staying at Somers Hiscott. As well as local walks around the estate, there is the South West Coast Path to explore, and the mainly traffic free Tarka Trail accessed nearby, which is ideal for both cyclists or walkers. North Devon boasts two golf clubs in the UK's top 100 at Saunton and Royal North Devon. Surfing and wind-surfing, fishing - both fly and coarse, horse riding, sailing, clay pigeon shooting and driven shoots can also be discovered nearby.
For local attractions there is the RHS Rosemoor, Big Sheep, The Milky Way, Exmoor Zoo and Arlington Court, as well as many more that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.
