About this property

Romantic sunny South Devon garden cottage with wifi set in garden and woodland

Sunny cottage in Devon near Dartmoor, Totnes and the South Hams coast..

The cottage a welcoming and deeply comfortable space with some lovely original art, wifi, television and central heating. The rooms all look out onto our gardens and fields and the upstairs has views of Dartmoor in the distance.

On the ground floor there is a kitchen/diner and toilet. Upstairs there is a studio bed-sitting room and en suite bathroom (shower and bath).

We have lots of dogs, cats, horses, ponies, chickens, ducks and sheep - all for you to enjoy.

There are beautiful walks 5 minutes away in the 400 acre Hembury Woods which lead to the magical Dart River. We're 10 minutes drive from the wilderness of Dartmoor, 30 minutes from the South Devon coast and 25 minutes from creative hub of Totnes - voted one of the coolest towns in England.

15 minutes away is the medieval Dartington Hall which is a world renowned artistic centre set in stunning gardens. Dartington Hall has a cinema, pub and restaurant along with a rich programme of cultural events. We are also close by Rill Farm which is a centre for a number of yoga and other similar workshops.

And if you like steam trains we have that too - a number of vintage trains run from Buckfastleigh to Totnes - the steam train station is 10 minutes away.

The cottage is self catering and we are close at hand to give you directions, help with where to shop and any other enquiries you have.

This is a hot spot for local and organic food - the renowned Riverford Farm Shop is just 10 minutes drive. In Ashburton 8 minutes away there is a great fish deli and bakery and Totnes is full of foody shops, cafes and restaurants.

We have lots of guests who come back year after year because there is just nowhere quite like us.

For train travellers, Totnes is 3 hours from London on the main line from Paddington Station. We're half an hour South of Exeter and half an hour North of Plymouth, buses run to Buckfastleigh from both cities.

There are airports at Exeter (45 minutes away) and Bristol (90 minutes away) both of which have international connections.

I used to work on climate change media and am also part of an internet start up. I work from home and in London, my wife Judy runs our our 16 acre organic smallholding where we have ponies, sheep and lots of dogs and cats.. We have two children, Hattie & Donald who are sometimes at home with us. We live a simple life and enjoy meeting new people from around the world. We enjoy having guests who appreciate nature and will appreciate our laid back and somewhat messy home.

We've really enjoyed being hosts - all the guests we've had have been very friendly and a pleasure to have with us.

Why they chose this property

We love this cottage so much and from time to time stay there ourselves! It is the perfect size for a couple and is so comfortable and cosy. You will love it too!
