Los Buhos (The Owls) is a very spacious and luxurious traditional-style villa, full of character and charm, located in a quiet corner of the white village of Gaucin, with a large, well-stocked garden, private salt-water pool and unbelievable views - ideal for outdoor living in the summer. The villa is decorated in 'campo chic' style and stocked with paintings and sculptures, most of them the work of the large artistic community for which Gaucin is well known. A forty-foot long, five-arched loggia, with covered outdoor dining area, looks over the south-facing garden, as well as enjoying the stunning views down to the far distant straits of Gibraltar and the Rif mountains in Morocco. The garden has many quiet corners to sit in sun or shade, as well as an area for playing boules, or table-tennis, or simply relaxing in the hammock. Outside the large, well equipped kitchen is a barbecue area overlooking the pool, with its terrace and sunbeds.
In the cooler months the spacious villa, with its garden and multiple terraces, creates an ideal space for enjoying the winter sunshine during the day and then retreating to the deliciously warm and cosy interior once the sun sets, with under-floor heating throughout, plus two wood-burning stoves.
The four large double/twin bedrooms are all light and spacious, with beautiful wooden-carved beds, very comfortable mattresses and fine quality cotton sheets. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Although the villa feels as if it is in the countryside, the many excellent tapas bars, restaurants, shops and other facilities of the village are all within a few minutes walk. The only problem is you might find you just don't want to leave the villa!
