About this property

Villa Antonia| Seaside villa with a magical garden

I would like to welcome you to this magical villa! This villa is a 1-minute walk from the beach. Quietly located 50 yards from the beach of Almirida, Villa Antonia is a stone-built, restored farmhouse surrounded by 2.5 acres of olive trees and vineyards. It features a furnished terrace and balconies overlooking the garden and the Cretan Sea.

Space
On the ground floor, you will find a kitchen/dining area, a living room, a half bathroom/cloakroom and a shaded dining terrace.
The fully-equipped kitchen features a contemporary ceramic-topped four burner stove/oven combo, microwave oven, oversized deep marble sink, kettle, a Nespresso coffee machine with a starter pack of pods, toaster, sandwich toaster, dishwasher, and a comprehensive selection of culinary tools.

A doorway leads up one step to the bright beam peak-ceilinged living room where a traditional Cretan hand-carved L-shaped couch upholstered in naturally-hued cotton cushions is fronted by a glass-topped coffee table crafted from a century-old metal and wood potato cart. A blue wood dining/computer table flanked by four straw-seated wooden chairs painted in tastefully compatible hues of teal, blue, and red is offset by an old yet functional wood-burning stove (great if you’re visiting in winter!), and a second couch/bed with an extra wide single mattress(5th guest), off-white coverlet, and oversized lounging pillows.

On the first floor, you will find 2 double bedrooms both with a queen size bed, 2 en-suite shower rooms, a tree-shaded terrace, and an open balcony with an amazing view to the Cretan sea!

Lovely place - just check which property you are booking!
This is a lovely villa which is just a few minutes from the beach. It is nicely furnished, with good indoor and outdoor spaces. It's set in its own olive grove, which makes it feel very private and peaceful. No sea view, but this didn't detract too much for us. Clean towels and sheets twice a week and we were well looked after by the property manager and cleaner. Almyrida has a nice beach - we used the beach umbrella from the villa to set up on the public area of the beach most days and had a great time. Plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk (although perhaps a little expensive) and two car hire places withing 5 mins. A criticism is that the owner did not respond to my request for the exact location to assist the taxi driver on arrival. The location on Google Maps was wrong (although I've informed Google - July 2019 - so this may be corrected at some point). When arriving, look for the Aloe Boutique Hotel, the property is 30 m up the path on the west side of Aloe. A point of confusion in the property description is the fact that there is a second property on the plot - a studio flat for 2 people known as the round house or windmill. The photos illustrating the villa/farmhouse also include photos of the inside of the round house. Make sure which property you are booking - the farmhouse that sleeps 4/5 or the round house which is very small, has v steep stairs and suits a couple. In our two weeks at the villa, a couple and then a single traveller arrived for a few days at the round house, and both groups were surprised and under the impression they had booked the much larger farmhouse. However, if you have booked the farmhouse - you can expect a very pleasant stay.
