About the property

4 / 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms with plenty of outdoor space. Peaceful location.

The house stands in it's own grounds with immediate views of vines, fields and farms, yet it is within easy distance of a pretty village with good amenities including a boulangerie, a bar/restaurant, a well stocked general store / post office and a chemist. The views from the house really are incredible with the Pyrenees to the south and beautiful countryside to the east.

Upstairs are 4 bedrooms, 2 with ensuite shower rooms and a main bathroom with a bath, all are tastefully furnished. There are an additional 2 camp beds and a cot available increasing capacity upstairs to 10/11. Bath and pool towels are provided for your convenience.

Downstairs is a large comfortable TV lounge with a log fire and separate dining area. The 'snug' has another TV and also a bed settee sleeping a further 2 adults if required. There is a downstairs toilet and shower room with a washing machine.

The kitchen has a huge fireplace with another log burner and a table to seat 6. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge / freezer, oven and microwave as well as cooking / eating utensils.

Off the kitchen there is a breakfast room / conservatory and a useful coat / boot room with a washbasin.

To the front of the house is an 8 X 4 pool with a terrace together with a separate dining area with those incredible views across the Pyrenees. There is a BBQ area with picnic table and a hammock. On the other side of the house is a covered terrace (our salles de fetes!) with another dining area, comfy seating, a bar, a weights bench and a table tennis table. There is also a small sand pit for the little ones. This terrace is lovely and cool on hot days and perfect for providing some welcome shade as well as relaxing in the evening.

There are 1.4 hectares of grounds in total so plenty of room to roam around including a field, a paddock and an orchard with tyre swings for the children. There are apple trees, pear trees, cherry trees, and a lovely fig tree!

There is plenty to do here so you definitely wont get bored. Viella is in the heart of the Madiran wine region and there is wine tasting available on every corner. Visit the local market at nearby Aire sur l'Adour where you can buy the very best fresh and local produce.

The countryside is stunning and you can walk from the house, roaming to your hearts content exploring paths and vine yards. It is also a very popular area with cyclists, both on and off road.

The house is suitable for horses with a field, field shelter and a sand school and you are very welcome to bring your horse on holiday here too - the riding is wonderful!

A little further afield is the city of Pau in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Days out in the mountains are endless, whether is it sightseeing, walking, cycling in summer, or skiing, dog sleds and snow mobiles in winter, you will be spoilt for choice.

Why Jill KIRBY chose Gers

It took a long time to find this place and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. One of the things we love is that it is so peaceful, it really is a little corner of paradise.

The Gers is the most unspoilt department in France, with the least industry and no auto route, making it the cleanest air in all of France. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine watching the sun go down and the stars come out is a perfect way to end the day.

The countryside is beautiful and because we are surrounded by vine yards everywhere is open with little fencing, just an abundance of tracks for you to explore and enjoy.

What makes this house unique

The best bit about this house are the views - they really are amazing. You can admire the chain of the Pyrenees to the south, with the snow capped peaks glistening in the sun against the deep blue sky and then across to the east the countryside stretches out for miles. Breathtaking!

We also have badminton, boules and darts at the house and there are some inflatables you are welcome to use in the pool. One of the trees in the orchard has some tyre swings
