About this property

The Heydon, Roughton, Norfolk

Situated in rural village of Roughton, and beautifully constructed from native flint and brick, The Heydon is a converted farm building forming part of a small complex of nine barns known as Jonas Farm Barns. With shared use of a heated indoor pool and located only two miles away from the bustling coastal resort of Cromer, this hideaway is the perfect base from which to explore all that North Norfolk has to offer, at any time of the year.

The cottage is on one level and full of character with flint walls, vaulted ceilings and beams, but is warm and cosy too with underfloor heating. Comfortable and well-equipped, with an enclosed courtyard garden, the cottage is found in a quiet rural setting and enjoys lovely views across open farmland towards the coast.

Guests are able to enjoy the complex's 13m x 6m heated indoor pool, open daily between 09.00hrs and 18.30hrs. Outside the pool complex is a play area featuring wooden climbing frame and swings.

The Heydon's neighbouring property The Felmingham is for four guests, should you be interested in booking both properties.

Just two miles away from the popular seaside resort of Cromer, this is a wonderful romantic retreat for couples, but equally suitable for someone wishing to holiday alone. This is a great base from which to explore the many rural and coastal delights and attractions on offer in this beautiful area of North Norfolk. The National Trust properties at Felbrigg and Blicking are close by, and beautiful Sheringham Park is a short drive away. Roughton has a shop open 24/7, a petrol station and pub serving food; and Cromer has an abundance of cafes, restaurants and some of the best fish and chips for miles around.

8/10 Good

Excellent holiday let down by a couple of negatives.
Overall an enjoyable stay. excellent location, close to many places to visit. Several good places to enjoy a good meal, especially the The Foundry Arms at North Repps and Roughton Fish and Chips. Overall the The Heydon is an excellent place to stay but disappointing that the price had increases significantly because of the Easter holiday. The barns complex is very well laid out with plenty on open spaces and the swimming pool is an additional benefit. Only two negatives: 1. The overall cleanliness of the property could be improved. Flooring, kitchen area, including cooker, fridge, crockery and utensils and bathroom would benefit from an improved level of cleaning. 2. The electrics failed on two occasions during the night meaning no power or heating when we woke up in the morning. Luckily I was able to restore the power due to my electrical experience. The RCD in the consumer unit had tripped, luckily it reset OK on both occasions. However, neither of these negatives would stop us returning to The Heydon in the future.

Good Norfolk Accommodation
A well appointed and equipped barn conversion. Would have preferred a dishwasher rather than the installed clothes washing machine. A good swimming pool on site.

Great accommodation.
Thought of everything Christmas decs and foil tray for turkey. Loved the gift of wine cake and biscuits. Thanks. Shame you are not allowing dogs in 2022
