About this property

Traditional Log Cabin on quiet Residential Commune.

A traditional style cabin but modern and comfortable on the inside. There are two shower rooms to help you and the family get out early in the morning to enjoy your day. An absolute boon to families staying. If you have young children this property may not be suitable as children will sleep on the first floor so this will depend on ages of your children. There is NO room for a cot in the master bedroom on the ground floor. If you have an older child sleeping upstairs as well then it may not be a problem. A well fitted kitchen offers a full size dishwasher, washing machine, 5 ring gas hob, a microwave, refrigerator with freezer box, toaster, and kettle . There is a gas BBQ on the terrace. The master bedroom is on the ground floor with a good size en suite toilet and shower room and a king size bed. The lounge/diner has two sofas, a directors chair, medium size flat screen TV and a dining table that can be extended as required with 5 dining chairs. The upstairs has two mezzanine bedrooms, one with 2 large single beds, and storage space and one with large single bed and storage area. There is a further good size fully equipped toilet and shower room on this floor. Outside is a large decked terrace with large table and chairs. 1 minute walk too stunning views overlooking lake Dathee. The communal heated swimming pool is covered/uncovered depending on weather. POOL OPENS MID MAY TO SEPTEMBER. PLEASE NOTE THE POOL IS A COMMUNAL POOL AND THEREFORE I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MAINTENANCE ISSUES/CLOSURES DURING YOUR STAY. This location is especially suited to families /groups who enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, golf, fishing, cycling, horse riding, sailing, kayaking. There is an 18 hole golf course situated at the edge of the lake with a club house. It is a very challenging course and a favourite for serious and amateur golfers. The lake is renowned for it's large carp fishing. Peaceful location but only a 10 minute drive to Vire town center with all amenities, supermarkets, cinema, kids play areas, restaurants, shops and a large market on Fridays. It's a great location for local attractions and to venture further afield. There are many family theme parks within an hours drive and many of the War Museums etc can be reached within 1 hour 20 minutes. The city of Caen is about 50 minutes and has many attractions and shopping areas. Well worth a visit. Ouistreham next to the ferry port has stunning beaches and a very quaint town with lots of history. PLEASE NOTE The property does not have WIFI but the location has a good 4G signal for your phones so we never felt the need to add to this.

Delightful cabin in a beautiful setting.
We had a most enjoyable holiday at the cabin, which although compact, was very well equipped and comfortable. We had bicycles with us and just a warning, the hill up to the lodge is very steep! Also a suggestion, WI FI would have been an advantage. Overall a most pleasurable stay.

Our idyllic retreat August 2020
Myself,my husband and our 13 year old son were over the moon when we found this lovely property in this beautiful, rural location in Normandy. Set in a residential holiday park above Lake Dathee. This property ticket all the boxes . Spacious, clean , homely, all amenities were catered for . True to the description on the website. My husband and our son are golf addicts and were warmly welcomed at Lake Dathee golf club by locals and the expat community. A par 71 which is the trickiest test of golf the pair of them have ever played . Truly manicured greens and lush well kepted fairways , welcoming club house , this is an ideal way to spend a whole day !! For the standard of the course , very reasonable prices €99 for the pair of them , with the hire of clubs and trolleys. The property is within easy distance of Vire the local town, and about 45 minutes to granville. We had plans and tickets to visit Christian dior childhood house in granville and to visit the 24 hour race museum at Le Mans which is only 1.5 hours drive away . Unfortunately our stay was cut short because of the covid pandemic. It was announced on Thursday 13th August 2020 that people holidaying in France had to be back in England by 4am Saturday 15th August 2020 or face 14 quarantine. Unfortunately because of work commitments, and not being able to quarantine at home we had no choice but to book an early train and leave 6 days early 😪😪 gutted If this pandemic ever clears up we will definitely be returning.

Everything the description said and more. One to come back to.
Myself, my wife, our daughter (17) and her boyfriend enjoyed a fantastic 2 week holiday here in July/August. The chalet is spacious, clean and well equipped throughout with separate bathrooms with showers for the ground floor/master bedroom and the upstairs bedrooms which was a bonus. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck which gets the sun all afternoon and evening while the balcony upstairs gave “the kids” somewhere to escape to. With all the chalets being privately owned the park itself was very quiet and peaceful. The large heated pool was fantastic – the roof was open or closed depending on the weather so even on the odd couple of days it rained we still used it. It never got too busy and we had it to ourselves a few times. There is also a fitness room with a bike, rowing machine, table tennis and a foosball table. The crazy golf takes some practice (putters and balls are in the chalet). While there is no oven the gas hob, microwave, slow cooker and BBQ on the deck were more than sufficient to keep us well fed when we were not eating out (The Hotel de France in Vire has a good French menu at fixed prices). The Utile supermarket (like a Tesco Express) is less than 10 minutes away for all the basics including fresh bread without going into town. The bigger supermarkets, including Lidl, are on the north side of Vire but again no real distance. The town centre has plenty of free parking and a decent range of shops, bars and restaurants while larger stores and a bowling alley are out with the supermarkets. To the west, the sandy beaches south of Granville (great for fresh seafood) are about an hour away and were not at all crowded. Caen (great shopping), Bayeux (tapestry) and the Normandy landing beaches are about the same drive time. Mont Saint Michel is worth a visit but either go very early or late as it’s a tourist hotspot. The mountain of tourist information provided in the chalet ensures there is something for everyone. This is definitely on our “must return one day” list. Debbie, the owner, was always helpful and very responsive and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Lovely property, quiet location
We had a great family holiday here. The location was quiet with great views. Room to play with the kids around the property, satellite TV and Blu Ray player too. Best of all no WiFi so spent plenty of time together as a family! Nice amenities at the site.

I work in a hospital in Surrey and have always lived in this area. Now my children are grown up I wanted to take on a new project. My eldest son is closely involved with this project and has helped considerably with making further improvements. We both want to ensure a good standard for our guests and for families to use.

Why they chose this property

Couldn't resist this attractive Swiss style chalet and in such a beautiful location. Rural, yet within easy reach of a good size town with all the usual facilities, just a 10 drive minute. An absolute bonus to have the lake, golf course.

What makes this property unique

The golf course is a par 71 . and is said to be more challenging than the Montgomery at Celtic Manor. Beautiful views over the lake and golf course, the opportunity for various activities around the lake, and be within easy reach of other attractions in Normandy . Also the train service has a direct line to Paris in two and a half hours.
