About the property

6 bed, 4 bath, 2 recep large house with big kitchen, pool, grounds and barns

The entrance to the house is glorious - with wrought iron gates the pillars of which are guarded by a pair of lions. The driveway with plenty of parking brings you to the front entrance. The painted shutters and masonry give the house a feeling of warmth and grandeur. We have had the joy of watching our children grow up here summer after summer and have had so many happy holidays staying here with various combinations of friends and family. It is the perfect retreat, a great escape from the ratrace, where days disappear planning restaurant lunches, bbqs, cards & ping-pong tournaments, visits to local markets, golf, walking, cycling, hide & seek, football or simply sunbathing and swimming.

Outside there is a large covered eating area, great for breakfast, lunch and supper all through the spring, summer and autumn. A door from here leads to the enclosed gardens and pool area to the rear of the house. The pool is 12 x 6 metres with steps leading in, and there are plenty of cushioned sun loungers as a well as a folly for shade when the summer temperatures soar. Night swimming with underwater lighting in the pool always an event! From the covered eating area double doors lead to the kitchen - which is large and fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your party. A further table for meals here seats 14. Behind the kitchen there is a utility area with washing machine, a large second fridge and double sink. A downstairs shower room runs off the utility room. The corridor from here leads to the back staircase.

Along the front of the ground floor of the house there are two large reception rooms - one with tv, and a selection of boardgames, puzzles and books, the second is quieter and a lovely room to get away from it all. Both rooms have open fire places - perfect for winter stays! Between the two salons is the front door and the hall way with a glorious oak staircase rising to the first floor at the top of which you can access two of the double bedrooms (one en-suite). A half staircase from here leads to the converted chai at the back of the house from which there is access to one of the twin bedrooms and the twin & bunk room with a bathroom between. There is also access from here to the last two bedrooms - but separate access can be gained from a back staircase to the rear of the house a further bathroom is accessible from here also.

The tranquil gardens surround the house - with various outbuildings including an open fronted, lit barn housing the ping pong table. Views of the Pyrenees from the balcony are simply stunning. The house is perfectly located just 10km from Marciac where the world famous jazz festival takes place in late July to early August annually. Maubourguet and Plaisance are almost equidistant from the house. Tennis, golf, waterskiing, canoeing and many other activities are available locally. Local cuisine and wines are exceptional and there are both wine growers and food producers locally to visit. We've been going there for 16 years now and we love it so much that we decided to buy it! We hope you will get as much joy from your stay in our beautiful gascony home.

About Susie & James Wetton

We are James & Susie Wetton, we met whilst working in the Savoie region of France and always dreamed of living here. We both did several ski seasons working for UK ski operators. Since then we moved back to the UK had a family and worked, lived in London, Essex and Bedfordshire. James in Global Outsourcing and I have worked in the fitness industry as a Pilates teacher and Personal trainer. We love entertaining guests, food, language and everything about the french lifestyle. Our aim with Le Pignoulet is to offer our guests an unforgettable home from home experience.

Susie & James Wetton purchased this farmhouse in 2016

Why Susie & James Wetton chose Ladevèze-Ville

We bought this property from James' parents who have owned the house since 2000. We loved the house so much as we have been holidaying here for 17 years that when they came to sell we decided to see if we could find a way to keep it - so now we are owners of our very own little corner of Gascony!

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house has a really gorgeous feel to it, you will love it's location in a tiny hamlet, surrounded by farmland and rolling hills. Views over the Pyrenees are stunning and the sheer peace and tranquility of the location offer you instant relaxation. Inside the house has plenty of space even when it is at capacity, it has a huge kitchen and two lovely living rooms as well as masses of outdoor space to find quiet, to make noise, to read, play games etc. The pool to the rear of the house gives maximum privacy, and gardens front and back offer plenty of space to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The house is equipped as we would equip our own home - so we hope you will have everything you need to enjoy a perfect holiday.

Quiet and relaxation assured

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful property with my every need catered for. Large and airy rooms, well furnished in a relaxed and comfortable style. I was there to participate in a Pilates course - which was everything I could have hoped for and more. I booked for a return course as soon as I could and wish it could be sooner!

Beautiful tranquil Gascony country house

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit - the house is huge and stylish with high ceilings and large shuttered windows opening onto country views. There's loads of entertaining space and garden for the children to run around in, along with a wonderful swimming pool. It's a perfect house for a large house party. You can go walking and cycling nearby and visit local historic towns for shopping, restaurants and wine buying. We highly recommend!

Beautiful french farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a fabulous long weekend staying in this super property. Even with the winter weather being horrible. We lit the fires and enjoyed eating local produce and drinking fine wine while soaking up the atmosphere. Would love to go back, with our large family, in the summer.
