Newly build villa according to traditional patmian architecture in Hora .

Patmos Chora Villa 1 is a recently built delightful three bedroom traditional Patmian house built on a large area of land, offering astonishing views to the Aegean and more specifically to the east part of Patmos island. A small part of the bay of Skala (port) is also visible. The house is situated beneath the famous Chora, only 0.5kms from the renowned Monastery of Saint John and just a few minutes walk from the main square.

The house has been built and decorated according to Patmian architecture, from stone with wooden details such as the beds and stairs, made by local craftsmen. The house is fully equipped and provides great comfort.

Accommodation Details Villa No 1

Lower Level:

Entrance yard with sitting/dining outdoor area seating up to 12 people with traditional stone oven. In the house there is a living-dining room area with open fireplace, TV, and comfortable furniture. A separate fully equipped kitchen. Two steps down lead to two twin bedrooms and a shower room.

Upper level:

A double bedroom with pretty iron bed and shower room. From the bedroom there is access to two terraces with views to the Aegean sea.

The size of the double bed is 2.0 x 1.65 metres.

All levels offer views of the Aegean and the eastern part of the island.

Outside Facilities

The double storey layout of the house provides guests with multiple leisure alternatives and private escapes. There are three sitting areas in the house. All terraces ovelook the Aegean sea, the east part of the island and a small part of the bay of Skala. From these vantage points it is possible to watch ships coming and going. The house is set in 4000 sqm of land, planted by the owner with a variety of trees, flowers and shrubs that complement the landscape. The house has spacious interior and exterior dining areas seating up to 12 people. It is also equipped with teak outdoor furniture as well as with soft pilows that can be placed on the stone outside seating.The location of the villa is very convenient as a path begins immediately behind the houses and leads directly to the main square of Chora. Here there is a choice of excellent tavernas, café and bars, as well as grocery shops, a bakery and a mini market. The Chora has lovely cobbled lanes surrounding the fortifications of the Monastery. Patmian architecture is renowned worldwide and there are magnificent examples of 17th Century mansions with imposing facades hiding opulent interiors. Guests can enjoy all this atmosphere within a 5 minute walk from the houses.

The house is serviced by the house manager who will be at the house or to the port to greet guests, and to look after all their needs.

OVERVIEW

The house is located 0.5 km from Chora where guests will find a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars as well as grocery shops, a bakery, and a mini market. The hospital of the island is 1km away.

The port of Skala is only 4 kms away with a wide selection of shops, supermarkets, a fish market, groceries, a pharmacy and banks, as well as a great variety of tavernas, cafés and bars for nightlife.

Within 3kms drive of the properties or 25 minute’s walk there is Petra beach where watersports, swimming, small boat hire, fishing, sailing and wind surfing or sunbeds to relax are all available. After Petra beach and only a 10 minute walk along the coast, or less than a 5 minute drive there is the village of Grikos, where there is a small sandy beach and a variety of tavernas with very good quality local cuisine.

There are also a number of other beaches within 10 minute’s drive of Skala and excursions can be taken to lovely small islands by regular ferries.

In general there are splendid walking opportunities on the island with an excellent network of paths threading through the magnificent scenery.

Settlement

CHORA villa is situated in the area of Hora and close to St John Monastery .Follow the historical narrow streets all away from the house in 5 minutes you can discover restaurants, cafés, shops and traditional bakeries. Treat yourselves with cheese pies, local dairy products.

The largest settlement, as well as capital and port of the island, is Skála 4 km distance from the house where you will find fresh-fish tavernas among buildings used by the Italians during the Italian Rule of the Dodecanese.

At 3 km from chora villa you can have a rest stop at the village of Grikos, and enjoy the freshness of a drink by the sea,or even a swim at the beach by the same name or Petra beach near by.

Interaction with Guests

Patmos is my holiday place so I am always around to welcome guests. I am also reachable 24 hours a day to answer any questions or assist in any way by.

Getting Around

There are busses and taxis on the island but I would suggest renting a car or motorbike . I would be happy to suggest and arrange for my guests

Other Things to Note

The house is fully equipped and user friendly but a few things worth noting are:

1. Water is scarce on the island and should be used sparingly. The house has a cistern which is filled once a week. If too much water is used the cistern will run dry and extra water will need to be ordered.

2. Wifi is available throughout the house
