About the property

Erika's Cottage - 1 Bedroom, Mountain Views and Garden

Stay at Erika's Cottage in the heart of the Lake District. Enjoy panoramic views across open countryside towards Blencathra, the Mungrisedale fells and the Helvellyn fells to the South. This one-bedroom, self-catered, cosy cottage is full of character and surrounded by wildlife. With panoramic views of the mountains you won't want to leave.

A mature private woodland provides a backdrop for the patio, which is accessed through French doors from the lounge. You can sit here and take in jaw-dropping views of the Lake District. The garden is fully enclosed and dog friendly. You can watch wildlife from your living room and bedroom window, such as pheasants, woodpeckers, red squirrels, our resident stoat and many varieties of song bird, with soaring buzzards above.

The cosy living room has a 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, DVD player and Nest Thermostat so you can control your perfect cottage temperature.

Erika’s Cottage is a fantastic base to explore the Lake District with Ullswater only 6 miles and Keswick and Derwentwater 8 miles away. The local pub is within walking distance at just 1 mile away in Troutbeck village and the nearest farm shop is 3 miles away.

The cottage is for 2 people maximum (one double bedroom) and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

The property was located in a beautiful part of the Lake district with everything as described. The garden was enclosed, which the dogs absolutely loved. It was extremely comfortable, very well decorated & well maintained and had everything in it we needed. We will definitely be returning here again, hopefully for longer next time. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyome wanting a break in the lakes

Owner's Response: Thank you so much - the new fencing seems to be a hit with the dogs! So glad you both enjoyed your stay in the Lakes.

A cosy, peaceful, comfortable gem

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay in this gorgeous little cottage, and Micheal and Verity made us feel so welcome. We arrived to see thoughtful additions to make our stay even more special, including a Christmas tree! The most important qualities of the cottage for my husband and I include the fact that it is detached and incredibly quiet, it is completely accessible throughout for my physical needs and wheelchair, our car can be parked easily right next to the cottage, and the location has beautiful views and is very warm and comfortable. Set in a cluster of trees with an ample, fenced garden (perfect for dogs), the setting is home to a host of wildlife, including red squirrels. The facilities and details within the cottage are well thought out - Michael and Verity have excelled themselves when providing everything their guests need for a stress free, enjoyable break. The contact and information from them in the build up to our holiday was exceptional - we couldn't have hoped for a better, more reassuring service. The location of the cottage is perfect for us. Its remote, rural setting guarantees a peaceful, quiet stay, and our favourite areas (Keswick, Newlands Valley, Ullswater and Ambleside) are a short and easy drive away. And having the most stunning views of Blencathra from the bedroom and lounge windows is a real treat. For walkers, there are countless hikes that can be enjoyed from the cottage, and some very nice local pubs for real ales and meals out. I have stayed in countless cottages in the Lake District over many years, and this cottage is the best I've ever stayed in. Now we've found this perfect gem, my husband and I would never stay anywhere else - it feels like a second home. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a quiet, stress free retreat in a very rural area near Keswick. We can't fault the cottage and location - if I could give it 10 stars I would do so without hesitation. Thank you, Micheal and Verity, for giving us the chance to enjoy a 'home from home' in our favourite part of the country.

Amazing location - perfect getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage - very homely with everything you need. Location is perfect, for exploring the Northern lakes, with Kewsick less than 5 miles away. The views of Blencathra, from the garden, are simply stunning! Unusual for a smaller property to have such a large outdoor area. If you're taking your four legged friend, the garden is fully enclosed with plenty of space for them to run around. Nice bit of woodland right next door - red squirrel conservation area (didn't spot one!). The owners are very pleasant but not intrusive - available for advise but leave you to it, which is great if you're looking for some solitude! Will definitely return and highly recommend this cottage.

Idyllic, spacious, comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Erika's Cottage is a perfect location from which to explore the northern end of the Lake District, out of the hubbub of the south. The cottage is spacious, accessible, well furnished. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. Michael & Verity are very responsive and gracious hosts. Time and money well spent. We'd definitely go back.
