Why Torgon?

Torgon, often called the "Balcony of Chablais", is the nearest Swiss ski resort in the Portes du Soleil network to Lake Geneva. It offers stunning views of the lake and the Dents-du-midi peaks.

In Winter

As for its skiing, Torgon is a place where anything is possible: family skiing, challenging downhill skiing, ski touring or snowboarding in virgin powder on north-facing slopes... it's also a great place to put your skis on in the centre of the resort and head off on a tour of the Portes du Soleil's ski slopes!

Visitors in search of pastimes other than skiing will be delighted with the opportunities for snowshoeing or taking a chairlift up to a mountain summit to make the most of the Alpine views, perhaps with a delicious fondue as your reward...

However, if you decide to go there outside of skiing season, be sure that there’s still plenty to do too. Amongs others, you can go hiking, play tennis or do mountain biking (trails availiable for all skill levels, selections of cross-country and downhill routes

In Summer

In summer, the resort offers countless itineraries for outings on foot, horseback or mountain bike in the heart of the world-renowned, Franco-Swiss recreational area, the Portes du Soleil. Strolling along trails and through alpine pastures nearly 2'000 m high, the visitor has every opportunity to admire the splendid views of the valley below, not to mention the surrounding landscape rich in alpine flora. The attentive sightseer might even catch a glimpse of some deer or mountain goats nimbly scaling the rocky hillsides. The resort itself offers a pool and open-air tennis courts, an equestrian centre, a paragliding school and charming restaurants specializing in local cuisine. Best of all is the famous Valaisan sunshine.

1. How to get there

We highly recommend car hire or coming in your own car as Torgon lies high in the mountains (1200m-2000m) with infrequent buses up from the town Aigle, which makes it a bit more difficult to access but it's the unique location that guarantees stunning views over lake Geneva and surrounding mountains. No two words about it: Torgon equals breath taking unspoilt scenery!!!

It's the last apartment block on your right. You basically can't miss it as it's a dead end.

If you need to use public transport please use link below to plan you journey and for advance ticket purchase:

In a nutshell: from Geneva Airport you need to take train to Aigle (1,5h) and then take bus up to Torgon La Jorette ( last stop; about 30 mins).

To get the key, please head to the reception area. It's unmanned after 8pm so after that the apartment key for the late arrivals should be left on the desk. If you experience any difficulties please use the reception phone to ring receptionist on call and she will come downstairs to help you.

The flat is located on 2nd floor. You can access it by stairs or by lift getting into the corridor marked in brown colour, situated opposite the pool and ping pong table.

2. About the apartment and what it's equipped with.

It's a one bedroom apartment that sleeps 4 people comfortably but max 6 people, if sharing sofa beds. There are two single beds in the bedroom and two sofa beds in the open plan kitchen- dinner- lounge.

There should be bed covers in the bedroom and spare set in wardrobes situated in the hallway. In case you need more towels or bedding you should contact the reception.

The cleaning charge does NOT include general cleaning of the apartment such as vacuuming and washing your dishes etc. All those are YOUR responsibility; it’s is a self-catering accommodation, which means you clean it throughout your stay and when you check out.

In the kitchenette there is: microwave, cooker with oven and grill, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle and all necessary pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. Everything you might need to cook meals on your holidays ( within reason!) is there. We have even made it our very own and brought a tea pot from Blighty so you can enjoy your brew just like at home.

And worry you not! Corkscrew is there too 

3. Self catering and eating out

There's a tiny supermarket in La Jorette, and another grocery shop but lower in Torgon Village so you can get your daily essentials like milk and bread there (ah and what a bread that is!). But if you are planning on cooking you will be better off going to a big supermarket in Agile ( the likes of Migros or Lidl). It's much cheaper and offers a much wider selection.

Note that supermarkets in Switzerland shut much earlier than in UK. There's no trading in supermarkets on a Sunday at all. For up to date opening hours, please visit their website ( hope your French is up to scratch)

Why Kat chose Torgon

Unspoilt, traditional Swiss village that does not ooze the commerce that's ubiquitous in big resorts. The apartment is close to a piste and whole Porte du Soleil ski area boasts total of 650km of piste.

It is a rural setting, Torgon serves mainly skiers, boarders, hikiers and mountain bikers. The village is situated high up in the mountains but with access to the car, even outside the summer or winter seasons there is plenty to do and visit around lake Geneva
