About the property

Barn conversion nestling in the hillside of the Tarn. This attractive property is situated in a small hamlet down a no-through lane not far from the Viaur valley, Cordes-sur-Ciel and Najac. It has good views, lovely inground swimming pool (9m x 5m), an attractive garden and a shady terrace close to the pool.

A converted barn in beautiful countryside, retaining original features including beamed ceilings and wood burning stove with central heating. French doors open onto a terrace ideal for summer dining and overlooking the private pool.

On the ground floor there is a very spacious open plan living area; lounge with large wood burner. There is also a downstairs loo.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms; one master with large ensuite containing double sink unit, toilet, bath and shower, one double and one twin served by a separate shower room. All rooms can be configured as twins if necessary.

Excellent view from the property and secluded, private pool.

For lovers of the countryside, just beyond the house, the lane becomes a track which takes you on a stroll down to the river with fabulous views. Quiet footpaths lead in all directions from the hamlet and the area is particularly rich in wildlife, and wild flowers which attract many rare butterflies. Birds of prey are a common sight and sound over the valley below.

Rural retreat, but lots to do in the area.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Greg and Paula's. From a practical point of view, the barn was well-equipped and well-situated for a variety of holiday activies, from walking, kayaking, exploring the surrounding villages, or just relaxing by the pool. It was unusually hot during our first week, and we were all grateful for the comfortable beds and fans, and especially for the swimming pool. We visited several local fromageries and vignerons, as well as markets in St Antonin, Laguepie and Carmaux, and longer trips further afield. What made this holiday special was the silence in the evenings and the dramatic skyscapes as the weather changed.

Schöne und frisch renovierte Scheune mit guter Ausstattung

Wir verbrachten Anfang Juli 2017 2 Wochen in diesem Ferienhaus. Es ist sehr schön renoviert und besitzt eine gute Ausstattung. Die Poolliegen und Sonnenschirme sind Brand neu und von bester Qualität.

Insgesamt sind die Schlaf- und Badezimmer gut ausgestattet. Der Außenbereich ist frisch angelegt und sehr gepflegt.

Just past the entrance to the house, the road becomes a track which is ideal for taking a stroll down to the river. The house is only 15 minutes drive from the shops, bars, restaurants and Saturday market at the picturesque hill town of Cordes-sur-Ciel. At the heart of the famous Bastides Region, Cordes is famous for its historic buildings, medieval festivities and summer music festival. Cordes overlooks the tranquil, rural valley of the Cerou River.

To the west, about 10 minutes away is the village of Laguepie with its medieval castle and twin rivers of Aveyron and Viaur. This is a wonderfully French little village with local amenities such as doctor, bakers, grocers, post office, bar and a Sunday farmers' market.

Fifteen minutes further west is the small mediaeval town of St. Antonin Noble Val with its impressive views of the Aveyron Gorges, great canoeing, Sunday morning market and other facilities including restaurants, cinema and bike hire.

A little further afield Albi, the Tarn's capital, is a great day out whether visiting the magnificent cathedral or the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, or merely wandering through the cobble stone back streets or sitting at one of the many bars in the centre.

Wine lovers with enjoy visiting Gaillac, the oldest wine growing region in France, where they can visit numerous vineyards for tastings,
