Numerous businesses and cuisine along the coast ...(Takeaways, bakery, pizzeria, restaurants, bracerie, pubs, newsagents, pubs, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.)
Torre Ovo is located about 6 km south of Torricella and about 35 km south-east from Taranto. A smaller portion of the territory, however, is administratively part of the municipality of Maruggio, also in the province of Taranto. On this portion is the Saracen tower which gives its name to the locality. Despite the administrative division, the town is still considered unique.
Torre Ovo, along with the town of Trullo di Mare and Library, is the Marina di Torricella. However, Torre Ovo Torricella not directly borders, but with a further fraction in the City Council, called Monacizzo, even if, as is customary in rural areas of Salento, including Torre Ovo and Monacizzo and among Torricella Monacizzo and run several hectares of uninhabited land and cultivated mainly screw, so that, rather than neighboring, areas appear to be indeed isolated from one another.
The territory of Torre Ovo, approximately 2.5 km² large, it can be ideally divided into three zones:
coastal zone - is the area along the sea, from the border with the town of Librari, north-west to the tower area, to the southeast. Very busy on summer evenings, when tourists use to walk, in the area there are two squares, one of which is organized annually by the City theater performances, concerts and entertainment. The beach is mostly sandy and the sand has the particularity to be composed mostly of microscopic fragments of shells. The sea, very salty, it is appreciated for the amazingly clear water. In this area are located hotels, bars, fish market, shops, bakery, pharmacy, food, ice cream, delicatessen, puccerie, braceria, etc.
hilly area - In this area, inland, to the north, not far from the sea, there are numerous villas. Then there is a large piece landowner, grown largely lives and minimally with olive trees, where there is also an old nineteenth-century farmhouse, now virtually abandoned.
the Tower Zone - The tower is located on an elevated area overlooking the sea. In this area is reached along the coast in a southeasterly direction, toward the town of Campomarino of Maruggio, about 6 km. As mentioned, this area belongs administratively to the municipality of Maruggio. Although in the Tower area there is not a beach in the proper sense, it is possible to descend from the tower on a rock platform and from there to bathe in the sea. A off of this platform is a rock formation medium in size, called by the natives the islet, which can be reached by swimming.
The resident population in Torre Ovo is very low, approximately in the order of ten units, but the town is full of tourists in summer. They come mostly from neighboring municipalities of Sava, Torricella, Fragagnano or from the city of Taranto and, to a lesser extent, from other municipalities in the district. It then records a large number of tourists coming from Naples and Nola, as well as from Turin. However, while the people of Turin who use to spend the summer in Torre Ovo are largely immigrants from areas of Tarantino or their descendants, the bells are not typically originating in the town and nearby areas. Also significant the presence of foreign tourists, mainly from Germany, France and the Netherlands, although they are mostly Italian immigrants or descendants of these.
