The Brew House is a lovely Cotswold stone property located in the heart of Chipping Campden, one of the most famous and picturesque market towns in England. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the many small shops, tea rooms and restaurants in the town, as well as providing easy access to the beautiful surrounding countryside. The many other beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all just a short drive away, as are well known places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

This Grade II listed property dates back to the 17th century and has an abundance of original character features, including stone mullion windows, stripped oak beams, exposed stone walls and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. The character of the cottage is complemented by its stylish contemporary furnishings and modern facilities, including wireless internet access and a well presented kitchen.

The Brew House sleeps six people, in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. The property has no garden or outside space, however the cottage is within walking distance of all the amenities of Chipping Campden. Free street parking is available outside or close to the cottage. The Brew House is perfect for friends or families with older children looking for a relaxing break in one of the best loved market towns in the Cotswolds.

Booking and payment

Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Security deposits

Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).


The maximum occupancy of the property is six guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than six guests at the property.


Regrettably, pets are not accepted.

Bed linen and towels

Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.

Arrival and departure times

Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Heating, fuel and logs

The property has a gas central heating system.

Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. There is a large inglenook fireplace in the ground floor living room and logs are provided under a fair usage policy from October to March.

Services provided

The property has free wireless internet access and a Freeview SMART TV with DVD player in the living room, plus two further TVs and an additional DVD player.

There is no telephone at the property.

Mobile phone reception is generally OK.


There is free on street parking outside or close to the cottage.


Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.

Child friendly facilities

Regrettably, The Brew House does not accept children under the age of seven years.

Please note that the property does not have a garden or outside space.

Initial consumables

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.

Accessibility, health and safety

This is an old, Grade II listed property and has many character features, including narrow stairs and low exposed beams. Please note that the hand rail guarding the stairs in bedroom 3 is very low and care should be taken when moving around this room. The stairs within the cottage could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the property in the event of an emergency.

The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.


No smoking is permitted throughout the property.

Magical Break in snowy Campden

it’s position in the Town made it perfect to explore from .The snow , log burner, and the Pubs were the iceing on the cake!

Great location!

This is a very clean and well presented house in a great location on Chipping Campden High Street, but for us as a group of 3 adults it lacked the extra finishing touches we have had in similar rentals. The outside lighting did not work, which would have been a major possible injury issue as there are steps down into the dark alley that leads to the front door (thank you iphone for your torch!). The information pack was missing, it had been taken by the maintenance company to be updated but was not returned at any point during our 4 night stay so a number of calls had to be made. Also a warning about just how low the ceiling are would have been good in the advertisement, we expect it in these houses but anyone over 5'10" would have a serious problem staying upright! If you want quaint then this has it in bucketloads but if I could I would have given it a 3.5 not 4 stars.

I'm sorry we did not get the guest information back to you during your stay, we had to take time going through it as some information was incorrect and needed changing, this was put back in during the next change over and has now been updated. We have also repaired the light in the alley, so thank you for bringing this to our attention. As for the low beams, this is explained in the description of the property on character cottages website. Many thanks Chris Property manager"

Super leuk huis en perfecte locatie

We hebben heerlijk genoten van het huis. Voor lange mensen is het een uitdaging om de lage balken niet te raken. Verder is alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt. Pubs en restaurants zijn om de hoek. Super leuk plaatsje!

Chipping Campden is one of the main market towns in the North Cotswolds, built by medieval traders with wealth created from the wool trade. With many thatched cottages, this is one of the most picturesque towns in the region. A notable feature of the town is the Market Hall which was built in 1627. Originally thought to be used in the wool trade, the main function of the hall was actually to give shelter to local cheese, poultry and butter sellers.

The High Street is relatively small, taking just five minutes to walk from one end to the other, and it has a number of well-regarded eateries ranging from tea houses to dining pubs and restaurants. This main street curves in a shallow arc which is flanked on both sides by terraces of ancient houses, each house having its own embellishments. This feature of the town is one of the reasons why, in 1970, the street was officially designated as a conservation area.

Chipping Campden marks one end of the Cotswolds Way which is a 102 mile National Trail linking Chipping Campden to Bath. For the majority of the trail it follows the Cotswold escarpment which gives the walker fantastic views of the surrounding scenery. The Way passes through many traditional villages and close to historical sites including Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe and Hailes Abbey. The countryside along the Way is very diverse, ranging from wildflower meadows to beech woodlands, providing visitors with perfect examples of Britain's stunning landscape.

Car: Chipping Campden is easily accessed by car, being located within three miles of the A44 and five miles of the A429 (Fosse Way), which are two of the main roads through the North Cotswolds.

Train: The nearest railway stations to Chipping Campden are Honeybourne (approximately five miles away), or Moreton-in-Marsh (approximately six miles) which have regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately 90-120 minutes.

Plane: Birmingham International Airport: 38 miles, approximately 50 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 84 miles, approximately 100 minute drive; Bristol International Airport: 76 miles, approximately 90 minute drive.
