Having grown up in Athens and, being married from an early age,the owner Maria decided to move to Santorini-she comes from Santorini- as the standard of living is better here.Being a wife,a teacher, a parent of 3 daughters , a grandma of two sons and a girl, she has realised that nothing matters except for family, real friends ,love and health.
She has always wanted to travel abroad but she couldn't do so.This is why she decided to rent their home.Meeting new people is a wonderful way to make friends,to learn about other countries and cultures.
As she's a person that she likes making other people's dreams come true, she has promised that she'll do her best for you, future guests,so that you can have memorable moments from your staying at Hemera Holiday Home!!!
Located on the caldera area in Akrotiri, the Hemera Holiday Home villa is ideal for families, couples and friends of Santorini seeking for a tranquil and far from the crowd accommodation. This Santorinian gem is easily accessible to all photo worthy landmarks, the perfect starting point for a day of sightseeing!!!!You can be amazed not only by the view which reaches as far as Oia,but also by the volcano, the magnificent sunsets, the wonderful fish taverns, the quiet undeveloped beaches, the tiny churches and the two of Santorini's jewels, the Lighthouse and the Excavations of Akrotiri!!The peaceful neighborhood is ideal for a truly relaxing stay, for those who seek peace of mind and privacy!!
The villa is beautiful, well-equipped and comfortable. It offers stunning views of the caldera and the sunset from the balcony. Maria is a very accommodating host. She even brought homemade breakfast treats to us the two mornings of our stay there.....delicious and made with her own homegrown produce. The villa is well-situated for visits to Oia and other island highlights. We throughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend it to friends.
I rented this place with 2 friends. It is in a perfect location, away from the crowds in Fira and Oia, and on the Caldera. We spent evenings sitting on the terrace watching the sunset and mornings watching the light change over the water as the sun came up.
We were close to many attractions (ancient Akrotiri, the Red Beach, the traditional village in Megalochori) and an easy drive to the rest of the island.
The house was spotless and we could tell that Maria had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
As for Maria, she is a jewel. She cooked us a real Greek breakfast and was eager to answer our questions and make us feel at home.
I definitely recommend this property for a stay on Santorini and hope to return myself.
The pictures do not do the house and view justice. It was our first trip to Santorini and we were unsure where to stay. North? South? Fira? We visited Fira and it is crowded and traffic is very heavy. Oia in the north is famous for the sunset view. We got the same view from the south without the hordes of tourists that crowd Oia every night. This house has a spectacular view of the Caldera. It is next door to the prestigious Princess Spa Hotel. No pool at the house, but same view and location as the Princess in an amazing and immaculate 3 bedroom house for a fraction of the price. Maria is a great hostess. She helped us with activity suggestions and cooked amazing breakfasts for us each morning. She and her husband were a delight. On a side note, a rental car is a must pretty much anywhere you stay in Santorini if you want to easily get to all the sights. There are virtually no sidewalks and streets are narrow and there are bridges and other areas that make walking dangerous and not practical outside confined areas of the towns. Busses were reliable, but a rental car is actually less expensive for a family and far more convenient. Our family LOVED our stay at Hemera Holiday Home!
Akrotiri is a small fish village but the fact that such a remarkable civilization flourished here for approximately 15 centuries, gives it a special prestige. The ancient city of Akrotiri is the most archaelogical discovery in the eastern Mediterranean. The volcanic eruption (1600B.C)covered with lava the ancient city and preserved it in an excellent condition ,as it happened in Pompeii. The site will worth a visit!!!Walking up to the Castelli and Goulas late in the evening, particulaly when there are music nights and also, admiring the striking scenery of the white Lighthouse on the rocks will amaze you!Not only can you have the chance to discover tasty treasures at the traditional taverns and restaurants or have your drink or coffee at Akrotiri but also when strolling along the square of Megalochori,a traditional village very close to the
accommodation.Supermarkets,groceries,restaurants,taverns,bakeries,pharmacy,ATM:a short drive or walk.
Akrotiri is the point from which you can take the path leading to the Red Beach or the boat to the White Beach or the dirt roads leading to Mesa Pigadia and Gialos. The organised and cosmopolitan black-sand beaches of Perivolos and Perissa are only 10 min.far from the villa.Vlychada and Theros with the spectacular lunar like scenery and the volcanic rocks are nearby beaches, too, that one can visit when staying at H.H.H.In addition, there are activities like windsurfing, diving, snorkeling e.t.c
Bike rental is available at the property and the area is popular for horseback riding. The Archaeological Site of Akrotiri is 0.8 miles from Hemera Holiday Home.
Please ,kindly note that boat tours can be taken so that you will admire the volcano (Nea Kameni)and the hot springs and Therasia ,too.Wine tours are another must of the island.
Welcome,my friend and you will have the feeling that time has stopped and left the character of the whole area intact:the character of real Santorini. The peaceful neighborhood is ideal for these who seek peace of mind and privacy.
Please, let us help you fulfill your expectations!
