Guestbook comments from the manager

We have just come back from spending the most relaxing easter break away with family in the dales. We had never been to the Peak District before and Yew Tree cottage was situated perfectly between Chatsworth, bakewell and Matlock giving us a lot of options of places to visit during our stay. The hosts gave us a lovely warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were given some top tips for walks around the area and nice little cafes to visit. If you love vintagey type shops then look no further! The cottage itself was so spacious and light and there was more than enough space for you to relax, it was a little cold to enjoy the outside table and chairs but the option was there if you wanted. We are already planning our next family trip away, the cottage was spotlessly clean and the views were incredible. A fabulous break away! Thank you!!

A lovely house in a very good location

  • 5 of 5

We had a very good stay in this lovely house. We visited Chatsworth and Cromford and the Peak Railway. We went on local walks and cycle rides from the door as well as enjoying relaxing in the house and garden.

Have breakfast on the sunny patio while you gaze at the view over the lovely parkland in the valley. Drive into nearby Matlock or Bakewell to browse around the shops and grab lunch in one of the restaurants. Then just set off to explore the Peak District fantastic attractions. Evenings have got to be reserved for the garden room having a lovely meal and watching the sun settling on the hills.

As you sip the last glass of wine remember to pinch yourself back to reality because there is lots more to do and see. The Heights of Abraham cable cars, Peak Rail's steam trains and the National Tramway Museum are gathered in and around the valley. Other attractions like Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Victorian Buxton are just as close. Get back in time for a 'real' ale in the nearby Grouse pub!
