It was okay experience

Let me start by saying I normally try not to write or read reviews because most reviews are biased based on ones attitude.

From the start the property owner and greeter were both very nice. We had a few problems with our flight to New York having delays and cancellations and they were kind enough to refund us for nights we weren't able to stay. Most people aren't understanding enough to even think about refunding due to their "strict" cancellation fees. Our flight even canceled leaving New York and they were so understanding to give us late check out.

When we finally arrived to New York Ivan, our greeter, was very friendly. He walked us through everything we needed to know about the property.

Here's where it gets a little funky. I was expecting a small space for the pictures looked like there was a lot of room. I gotta say, the photos are not up to date on the property. It wasn't very clean. We checked in and found a band aid on the wall. The "water proof" bed sheet underneath all the sheets were ripped. One of the beds had grocery bags tied up on the back of the bed frame to hold it together. Our group didn't mind for we weren't expecting to stay in the apartment all day. By day 2 it got to us. We knew coming to New York that it's the city that doesn't sleep. So of course there'll be a lot of noise. I believe we traveled around New York late enough to realize that this apartment had the most noise at night. Sirens and screams all night long, making us very tired. It goes without saying, you get what you paid for. I recommend forking out a little more money to stay closer to the city or to find a more comfortable spot.

Owner's Response: We haven't had any complaints about the noise in the area. There is minimal noise as expected of a big city such as NYC. We wish you had informed us about the cleaniless of the apartment during your stay as our cleaners guarantee their work and we would have sent them back at no cost to you. The bed sheets have been fixed since this review.

Rather not

  • 3 of 5

Host was responsive and polite. 5 stars for that. I on the other hand would have been happy had i done a little deeper research but i booked this place last minute and quick. It IS NOT THE UPPER EAST SIDE, IT IS HARLEM. Everything you map or yelp in the area will say east Harlem not upper east side.

The beds .... one bed looks like an ocean wave. High on one side and lower on the other, flattens when u lay on it but I’m trying to sleep not surf. We didn’t use this bedroom at all.

2nd bedroom sheets came off the first night and we couldn’t get them back on. Used the extra sheets to form one bigger sheet. The bed is also wrapped in a weird diaper like plastic so every time one person moves it crinkles and makes the sound of plastic

. If u walk and subway into city it’ll cost you 2.50 each time and if you Uber your looking at 22.00 each way. Taxi I’m unsure.

There were no condiments and no shampoo no soap and No conditioner which is fine just bring your own toiletries. Pots and pans also pretty worn. I’d suggest new ones. We tried to make breakfast and it tasted like the pot. So we didn’t eat breakfast or make food at the apt. Totally fine as well.

Not expecting anything just want everyone to know If you come knowing what exactly your getting into or settle into the area and expect the above the place will be cool just thought i should leave a detailed review.

Owner's Response: Cut offs of different neighborhoods in NYC are arbitrary and since the property is less than a block away from central park, Upper East Side is the most fitting neighborhood description. We also disclose the exact location on the map view so it is not misleading. Subway fees are a flat fee and most destinations in NYC require that you take a form of transportation, subway being the most convenient. Thank you for your feedback about the beds and pots, we have informed the owner of the property.

The photos must be old as the place looks tatty. The white lounge is warn out with the vinyl flaking off, needed to sweep every day. We were 2 couples staying for 8 nights in November and found the heating fine, even had to open the window at times to cool down. One bed room is spacious, the other is filled by the double bed with no room for cases, it would be fine with a single bed in. Otherwise the subway is just a few blocks away, its close to central park, supermarkets nearby with a couple of good restaurants nearby. Everything else is just a short Uber away. Interesting mix of locals in East Harlem was fine.

Easy on the budget, easy access to the City

  • 4 of 5

We definitely enjoyed our stay at this cute little apartment. The location is stellar and the price is fantastic. We were able to easily access multiple metro stops within walking distance of the place, which dramatically simplified our travel over the weekend when there were outages along several lines. Plus, it's 1 block off Central Park - can't argue with that!

The apartment kitchen stocks the basics you would need in a VRBO. There were several grocery stores within walking distance and we were able to grab a few things to have on hand, but if you're going to NYC, why not eat out? We had many great meals as we ventured around the city.

The living room was small (as one would expect). The fold out leather couch was a great seating/sleeping option, but it is starting to show wear, with leather flaking off (just as a head's up to the owner). We ended up covering it with a spare sheet and it was just fine. They had a nice cable TV system with access to Netflix, etc. for when we had worn out our feet and needed some downtime.

The bedrooms were more spacious than we anticipated - a nice bonus! The second bedroom's mattress/sheets were comfortable and high quality. The kids slept well. The mattress in the master bedroom is covered in plastic for some reason, and we found that bothersome. It retained heat and sounded crinkly. I'm not really sure what's going on there, but I would suggest the owner remove the plastic, as it definitely detracted from our sleep. This was the only complaint we had during our time in this apartment. Sheets/comforters were high quality, mattress was fine.

The neighbors are generally families with small kids or older residents - they were all friendly and relatively quiet (it is NYC, after all).

The owner and booking agents were quite wonderful and very attentive. We had a miscommunication with our booking and ended up asking to stay an additional night due to travel mixups and they were SO understanding and very accommodating. We really appreciated the flexibility and communication with them. From connecting on first arrival to managing our departure, they were on the ball and made things easy.

Thanks again for letting us use your place! We liked it a lot - it was a great base of operations that didn't break the bank and made it easy to see Manhattan!

The asunto on siisti ja hyvässä kunnossa.

  • 5 of 5

great for families

  • 5 of 5

This is the place to be if you are looking for a comfortable, clean, and centrally located apartment. It is perfect for families. The great thing is that even though it is centrally located in a safe and convenient neighborhood, it is still easy on the pockets! Recommend this rental.
