About the property

Luxury stone barn - quiet, private, scenic, short walk to village - wood burner

This is a truly stunning property, newly renovated and refurbished to the highest standards throughout. It is extremely spacious with spectacular uninterrupted, south facing views of the Cotswold countryside. It is a very secluded and quiet location, backing onto ancient beech woods.

The barn is entered at split level onto a spiral stone staircase. Upstairs is a very large main bedroom, with oak wooden floors and comfy arm chairs. There are doorways leading to smaller second bedroom and bathroom with an iron roll top bath. The second bedroom contains bunk beds and is suited to 2 young (well behaved!) children under 10 years old.

Two sets of French windows open directly from the main bedroom onto an external balcony with completely uninterrupted 180 degree views of Cranham Common and stunning Painswick valley.

Downstairs is a flag stone floored (with under floor heating) open plan living room and kitchen. Two sets of French windows open onto the patio and garden, south facing and with the same fantastic panoramic views. There is a wood burner should you wish extra heat, and complimentary logs.

The barn has a built in Sonos speaker system so that you can play your own music, radio etc from your chosen device throughout the house. There is a selection of board games, DVD player and numerous DVDs.

A lawned garden area and stone terrace with table and chairs has been set aside for the exclusive use of the barn's guests. There is ample room for parking of vehicles as well as secure space in outbuildings for bicycles etc. We could even accommodate your horses with ample warning in the farm stables!

The property backs on to the ancient Buckholt beech woods. There are miles of beautiful walks immediately from the doorstep and a quintessential country pub within 5 minutes stroll. We are 200m from the Cotswold way.

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

The barn is converted to an incredible standard with the highest quality of fixtures and fittings.

We stayed for 9 days and the barn was the best of both worlds; warm and cosy when the rain was falling and when the sun was shining we were able to make use of the large patio doors which bring the outside in.

Our two year old daughter loved exploring the garden and grounds and we even ventured down to the stream at the bottom of the estate.

We genuinely had no complaints. Carolyn was on hand for anything we needed and took the time to ask us if we felt anything was missing that would improve other people's stay.

I'm surprised to see other reviews on here which are anything less than 5 stars. The description of the barn and the amenities it has are 100% accurate.

Just one thing to highlight.....Carolyn and her family live nearby and have two dogs that roam the grounds freely (it is their home after all!). This was completely fine by us but it's something you may need to be aware of if you're nervous of dogs, even though they are completely dosile and very friendly.

We look forward to returning to the barn again soon, maybe even as early as the new year.

Owner's Response: Thank you Chris for your kind words. It was lovely having you all to stay, and you're right you must have had most weathers, apart from snow. Hope you had a good trip back hime - I passed the 3 choirs today and had my memory jogged to drop in (maybe when not driving with a car full of children!) Hope to see you again Carolyn

A gorgeous cottage with everything you need for a weekend away in the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

The property is fantastic and as lovely as it looks in the advert. It has a self contained kitchen with everything you need for making meals. The property is located close to a number of nice pubs and great walks. Cheltenham and Gloucester are only a short drive away. We had a great few days and will definitely return

Perfect Weekend Away

  • 5 of 5

Me and my boyfriend were looking for a cosy, clean and modern property to relax in around the Cotswolds area - and Carolyn’s property definitely delivered. So much so that on one of the days during our stay, we didn’t want to leave the comfortable barn! The kitchen was equipped with all the utensils we needed, and the complimentary logs for the fire was a nice touch. Overall, great location - a stones throw from the little village Cranham, but only 10 mins drive to a Tesco superstore/takeaways, and 20 mins to Cheltenham/Gloucester for shopping. Overall, a lovely staycation - we hope to return one day.

Cosy well thought out barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Very nice barn conversion - cosy and well thought out. Great views and close to very nice village - Painswick. Good walks on the doorstep and beautiful part of the world. Carolyn was very helpful. Second stay and with addition of the wood burning stove it was a lovely autumn retreat!

Wonderful peaceful and beautiful barn conversion

  • 4 of 5

Words cannot describe the place. Perfect views and walks. Absolute top quality construction (I am a builder) and decorating; Creative use of Sandstone and timber. Really an amazing place.

We would love to give it a 5 star rating but can't for a few silly reasons. No icebox of any sort (G&T isn't the same without ice), no wardrobe, no washing machine (a minor one) and no shower. All the same awesome stay for two people who are prepared to forgo the aforementioned.

Hosts are great and everything was easy. They are next door but we had complete privacy.

Totally recommend if you can solve the G&T issue (and go without a shower)!

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us and taking time to write a review. To clarify - we don't advertise a washing machine or shower which was have transparent on booking - so to comment negatively seems a little harsh. I take onboard your comments about the ice (however when this was discussed, I did offer to bring you ice round). Hope the patient is doing well, and safe onwards trip. Carolyn
