Fab-u-lous

  • 5 of 5

This secluded property is the perfect retreat. The owners Lorna and Andrew are welcoming and helpful but have the balance just right in leaving you to enjoy your stay in privacy. Plenty of parking right next to the property with walks directly from the door over open fields. On arrival the basket of complimentary locally made items was a lovely touch. The pool was warm which kept the children occupied for hours! A 10 minute walk takes you to the local village pub where the service is friendly and real ales/food delicious. Can't recommend highly enough....and we are fussy devils!

Very Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Great holiday property. Very well suited for young children. The pool was great and the barn itself was very comfortable. We found a lovely hamper of homemade goodies when we arrived as well as the barn being beautifully decorated for Christmas. Plenty to do within a short driving distance.

The perfect getaway for a couple or small family

  • 5 of 5

It was recently my wife's 30th birthday and I wanted to take her out in to the middle of nowhere where we could relax and unwind for a couple of days but I wanted to be sure that we could be within easy reach of some coastal towns and scenic villages for day trips... this location was just perfect for both.

The barn conversion is beautiful and felt spacious yet cosy in the main living area upstairs. We cooked at home most evenings and had everything we needed to make this a simple and easy process. The local area is peaceful and quiet and the barn overlooks the fields with horses grazing in the distance and some great skies in the morning and evening to feast your eyes on over a cup of tea.

I was slightly concerned that there might be some noise in the mornings from the chickens on the farm but this wasn't an issue at all and we both slept very soundly in the main bedroom without hearing a peep from the outside world during the night or in the morning. The private heated pool was large and warm and we made good use of the facilities there, including the rowing machine and dumbbells.

Lorna was a great contact and host and she replied to my messages on the days leading up to our arrival well within an hour. On arrival we found that she had made us some fudge and left us some eggs from the farm which was a lovely and welcome surprise. Once we'd settled in and had the keys we were given plenty of space and privacy and we only saw her again when we were checking out, which for us is exactly what we would have wanted given our hopes to disappear for a few days in the countryside.

We took a day trip to Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare which were both an easy drive and there are plenty of nearby towns and villages for supplies. There's even a 24 hour Tesco Extra about 15 minutes down the road that we nipped out to late one night for snacks - super convenient.

Overall it was a fantastic place to spend a long weekend and we will definitely be booking again. Highly recommended if you want to escape the hustle and bustle, and you couldn't ask for a nicer or more efficient host.

The property was easy to find with instructions from Lorna, who met us there . It was spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable so a good sleep was had by all . Milk and freshly laid eggs were very much appreciated. The swimming pool was brilliant and we all enjoyed morning and afternoon swims. The owners were very friendly and helpful . We would love to return .

Perfect, peaceful, lovely

  • 5 of 5

We arrived and were met by Lorna who is really lovely. Made us feel very welcome. Took us around the barn and explained everything to us.

Inside was very clean and spacious, very comfy bed and beautiful fluffy towels.

The main living room / kitchen is upstairs with lovely views. So peaceful, but within a short car drive you could be in town. A lovely jar of home made marmalade,(tasted delicious) along with fresh eggs was also a very thoughtful touch.

We were only there for a few days, but we had a lovely time. I would highly recommend this beautiful barn conversion. It has everything you need, plus a beautiful swimming pool. What more could you ask for. We will definitely be going back.
