Our traditional Canarian apartment is situated overlooking the beautiful village plaza of Spains highest municipality equidistant from the beaches of south Tenerife and the islands most popular tourist destination and the worlds third highest volcano and world heritage site Mount Teide the village is surrounded by pine forests and hiking trails and has several bars and restaurants and supermarkets a pharmacy and a medical centre everything you need for a relaxing holiday to unwind or maybe follow your hoobies the area is very popular with hikers, cycists, painters, bird watchers, and one of the worlds top destination for star gazing and astrophotography. The property does benefit from the use of our large solar heated pool acccessed through gates 50 metres across the plaza

Myself and my partner run a small rural hotel opposite the plaza from the apartment we have both lived here 12 years and enjoy the rural spanish lifestyle

The previous reviewer ( David B ) summed it up pretty well spot on for me. We stayed ten nights and enjoyed the whole time. Villaflor is half way up the mountain. Walks straight from the property are good and we also borrowed bikes from the owner to cycle locally. Beware though, the roads out of the village are steep. Its a training area for serious road cyclists. Generally I would consider it the equivalent of staying in a small country cottage in the UK. Quiet, relaxing and rural. If you like that, then you will probably be happy here. If you want sun, sand and a full English breakfast in the cafe. Then stay by the coast.

The property was comfortable and the owners very helpful. The evenings were quite cool and we were supplied with firewood and kindling for an open fire in the kitchen/ diner area. The fire was very efficient and made the apartment very cosy. The apartment's location overlooking the plaza was ideal with a good restaurant next door and a well supplied general store just round the corner. The village has several other restaurants and bars, all within easy walking distance. Located at 1450 metres, the village is a great centre for walking, cycling, bird watching and site seeing. There are many well marked footpaths through the surrounding hills and pine forests, whilst at easy driving distance is the Mount Teide national park, with a wealth of great and often demanding walking and cycling routes. All in all a great base for lovers of outdoor activities.

The property was spacious and homely and in a lovely setting ,

Vilaflor is beautiful and the views above the clouds are stunning, we expected it to be cold but surprisingly it was hot. The apartment was spacious and clean with a few quirky aspects. It could do with some new cups glasses and extra pans. The roof terrace could be fabulous as the views of the mountains are excellent ( the owner apologised for the state of it as her partner was called away before it was cleared so if this is done it's a fabulous sun trap and shaded from the wind) it's not 5 star and a bit quirky but great value for 4 people .Angela was lovely and helpful and just across the road so when we couldn't get a taxi etc she helped us out . It's very quiet but we ate a couple of times in a restaurant down the road that did traditional Canarian food that was very reasonable. It was a bit cool in the apartment at night so just ask for an extra duvet. We enjoyed our stay immensely

Unacceptable and only gave one star as your website requests it

The accommodation was not as advertised.

We booked for 5 people and the owner was only prepared for 4. The owner suggested that one of our party sleep on a sofa....

The pool was closed in the winter which was not mentioned at the time of booking. In fact we were informed that the pool was available and very close to the accommodation.

The accommodation had the following unacceptable issues:

Dirty throughout and all furniture was extremely old and requires cleaning.

Toothbrushes / deodorant's / perfumes left from previous occupants.

Faulty electrics which required fixing whilst we were in occupation. This could have been dangerous to us.

Light bulbs missing and others not working.

Toilet systern was DIY fixed with an old deodorant can to use as a flush button.

The fridge was outside and disgusting with old beer spilling throughout it.

Dirty cooking utensils and filthy electric kettle etc.

The bedding was very - very old. Dirty bedding left in wardrobes.

The ''sun deck'' area had old furniture distributed throughout it which looked as though it had been rat damaged.

In essence we were so disgusted by the property that we decided not to stay in it and sought alternative accommodation in Los Christianos at an additional cost of £2220.

I want a refund for the full amount of the accommodation.

I will not recommend this property to anyone else and it should not be listed on your website.

Owner's Response: This apartment has photos that show its for 4 persons only the guest said it was for 2 adults and three children and arrived with 5 adults i put an extra bed in for him. Its an economy apartment basic but clean and offers good value for hikers and cyclists. They were disappointed with where the apartment is situated the pool is too cold to use in the middle of winter. They paid £240 for 5 adults at christmas other people have been very satisfied with the place and want to return. There is no electric kettle in the apartment so i leave you to draw your own opinions on the veracity of the guests review
