About Mary Cole

I am Irish, a retired teacher and now full-time artist working and exhibiting in this lovely city - the photo above is in the cathedral square just 5mins from the apartment (me on the left withsome of my paintings).I come home to ireland during the holiday months. I have successfully rented my former french home with repeat visitors at St Laurent for 12 Summers before moving to Perpignan last year (it is more central to all activities!). I love my new apartment and so does my family who visit during the off season. I hope to share it with you at reasonable rates when I am absent. Why Mary Cole chose Les Platanes

I chose this apartment from among many on sale last year for its ideal location, generous size. and security. Plenty of room for visitors and a lovely aspect over the grounds (with trees, birds and little squirrels) the balconies catching both the morning and afternoon sunshine while remaining cool inside in Summer. The building is quiet and my neighbours kind but discrete. So close to all city amenities yet beside the lovely river walks and with direct access to the road to the beach or the mountains without crossing town. I redecorated and improved the property and added all the requiremnts for comfortable home it is fully equipped and newly appointed. It is an ideal location-I have never regretted my choice!

What makes this apartment unique

An ideal location for ALL THE SEASONS - So close to the city's Summer attractions and markets but within 10 mins drive to Mediterranean beaches and watersports. The city is surrounded by vineyards with great wine tours and hiking in the hills and mountains. Visit the legendary Cathar Castles of the area.and the beautiful hill villages where art exhibitions and country markets will enchant you. In Winter we are just an hour's drive to the ski slopes of the Pyrenees and just a short walk to the wonderful Christmas fairs, the big Carnival-(all through November) and the many other winter attractions of Perpignan. Then there are the colourful processions of Easter - where one festival seems to follow another in a city I never tire of walking around in the sunshine of all the seasons.........

Clean, comfortable and convenient

This apartment was perfectly situated to explore Perpignan and the surrounding area. Just outside the private gated parking lot is a handy grocery store and the old part of the city was a scenic easy walk. We drove to Girona, Spain one day and made several trips to the beautiful Mediterranean coast. We were glad to have a car for exploring, but public transport is also a good option. There is a large tourist office in town where everybody speaks better English than my French. We used the free Wi-Fi there, as there was none at the home.

I would recommend this apartment to anybody looking for a spotless, well supplied vacation home. The beds were very comfortable and all linens were good quality. In the evening we enjoyed local wine and cheese on the patio. My husband was thrilled with the English books and dvds in Mary's library. Marjorie the on-site contact person was very helpful and pleasant to work with. Our biggest regret in Perpignan was that our stay there was just for a week.

Quiet and centrally-located apartment in Perpignan

Thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful 10-day stay in this perfectly located apartment in central Perpignan. We were able to walk everywhere (and were delighted that our stay coincided with an international photojournalism exhibition which took place in a number of venues around the city - all within a short walk from the apartment). We also used the apartment as a base to visit beautiful local beaches and scenic coastal villages nearby. There is secure private parking if you rent a car but we availed of the remarkably efficient and clean public transport (accessible within a short walk of the apartment) for day trips and to travel to and from the airport. There are really good restaurants and bars minutes away and we bought fresh croissants every morning around the corner.

The apartment itself is quiet, spacious, clean and and has everything that you need for a short or long stay - everything has been set up for visitors including a large variety of information materials, maps, brochures, etc to cater for everyone's interests. The owner was hugely helpful in advance and during our visit and made us feel very much at home during our stay. We will definitely return!

Would highly recommend this apartment for a weekend city break or a longer holiday. Perpignan is a lovely city and the perfect launch-pad for beach and wine excursions in a very beautiful part of France.
