About the property

Detached 2 bedroom lodge with private courtyard 300m from widemouth Bay beach

The Summerhouse is a purpose built 2 bedroom lodge specifically designed for holidays by the sea all year round. The property benefits from light and airy open plan living on the ground floor encompassing dining, cooking and lounging areas. Large sliding doors open onto a secure, private courtyard from which you can sit back and enjoy the sound of the waves breaking.

The Summerhouse has two attic bedrooms, one double and one twin which provide a cozy sleeping environment. The ceilings are low though!

The shower room is on the ground floor off of the entrance hall.

The property is conveniently situated in a private lane just 4 mins walk from Widemouth's two fabulous Blue Flag beaches, this being the Gold Standard for beaches internationally, popular with families, surfers, walkers and sunbathers. The village has two great pubs, village farm shop which sells fantastic fresh fish and locally grown and reared produce, a fish and chip shop, as well as the beach cafe providing you with all the Cornish cream teas and ice creams you might fancy.

Widemouth is situated on the South West Coast path and is a great base for exploring Cornwall on land or sea, by wave, foot, car or bike in any season.

About Nicola and Bob Booth

As a family we are fortunate enough to live and work in this beautiful part of the country, and take full advantage of all it has to offer. Whether it be surfing, shopping, cycling, walking the coastal path or crab lining in Bude there is always something to keep the family happy. We have lived in the village since 2006 and have been welcomed into the very friendly local community and envisage staying here forever.

In 2012 we decided to build the Summerhouse so that we could share this beautiful village with others. The Summerhouse shares a drive with our family home Elanora so we're always on hand if you need us.

We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Nic and Bob Booth

Nicola and Bob Booth purchased this house in 2006

Why Nicola and Bob Booth chose Widemouth Bay

We fell in love with Widemouth Bay whilst on holiday in the late 1990s and it took until 2006 to realise our dream of moving here to raise our family.

The Summerhouse allows us to spend as much time as we can in the village we love.

What makes this house unique

We built The Summerhouse and as such have put a great deal of ourselves into it.

That's why we love it!

Perfect accommodation in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

The Summerhouse is ideally situated for the beach and exploring the surrounding areas. It is well equipped - the kitchen has everything you need - the washing machine was a welcome addition to. Plenty of storage space, lots of games to keep children entertained. The extra treats when we arrived were very thoughtful (milk, Juice, scones, clotted cream, jams, hot chocolate, coffee and tea).

Outside there is a BBQ for guests to use and a selection of wetsuits, body boards, buckets, spades etc for guests to use.

Overall the summerhouse was home from home and we all enjoyed our stay there!

Lovely relaxing holiday, perfect spot for the coast

  • 5 of 5

The Summerhouse is a perfect location for the sea, it’s coastal paths and a short drive from Bude. great base for exploring the Cornish Coast. The house itself was clean, beds comfy, every utensil you could need in the kitchen. Due to the house being so close to the sea, you could walk down in your wet suit and the court yard was ideal for peeling off your wetsuit without dropping it in the sand! The outside shower and hose excellent for rinsing salty wetsuits and bodies! We have been visiting Widemouth for a number of years and on this visit discovered The Beachhouse Shop & Wet Fish Monger, the Summerhouse was well equipped to cook the locally sourced lamb and fish etc. Definitely worth a visit whilst staying. The summerhouse is also within in a 10 minute walk of the Bay View Inn and 20 minutes of Widemouth Manor, both lovely places to eat if you don’t want to cook. The hamper and Easter eggs for the kids was a nice touch. Lovely stay, would stay again, thank you.

Lovely light, airy holiday home in the most perfect spot

  • 5 of 5

Fully equipped, beautifully clean light and airy property just around the corner from the beach in Widemouth. The only sound at night is the sea; perfect for a relaxing stay. Widemouth has a great pub (Bay View Inn) and an amazing café overlooking the beach that are both second to none. Stunning coastal walks and a heavenly beach. What more could you need?

Widemouth Bay - Blue flag awarded 2016 & 2017
Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Widemouth is a superb beach for surfing, sunbathing, kayaking, kite surfing, rock pooling and playing. It favours beginner to intermediate level surfers and has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award for the last two consecutive years, this being the Gold Standard for beaches internationally. 2017 Also saw Widemouth gain the Seaside Award for its fabulous beaches. A number of surf schools, wetsuit/board hire operate on the beach and Lifeguards are on duty from spring to September. There are a number of other quality beaches around Bude or use Widemouth as a base to explore the rest of the Cornish coast.

And it's not all about surfing, the South West coastal path runs through the village offering breathtaking scenery and walks .

Travel:

Buses run every two hours from Bude through Widemouth to Wadebridge throughout the majority of the day. Newquay airport is 45 miles from the village and Barnstaple, Plymouth and Exeter are approx an hour for the train.

3.5hrs to London, Southampton and 2.5hrs to Bristol.

Distances:

Bude is 3 miles north along the coast, Boscastle is 11 miles to the south and Tintagel a little further along again.

40 mins and you can be at Watergate Bay and Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' restaurant or Padstow and Rick Stein's 'The seafood Restaurant'. Or if you cross the estuary to Rock, Nathan Outlaw's 2 star Michelin restaurant at the St. Enedoc Hotel.

Closer to home we have a cinema 4 minutes up the road in Poundstock and in Bude itself there is a variety of options whatever your age from crabbing, pubs to bowling .

Further Details:

The leisure centre in Bude has an indoor swimming pool and next door at Harlequinns is the bowling alley and fabulous childrens playzone. Bude has a Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Lidl with Waitrose 12 miles away in Holsworthy and willing to deliver. Waitrose, Asda and Tesco offer home delivery.

Bude has a unique tidal sea pool cut into the cliffs at Summerleaze beach and is a must.
