About the property

Beautiful character cottage in centre of medieval Dunster, Exmoor National Park.

Mid 19th century, recently restored cottage, next to church in the centre of the beautiful village of Dunster with its castle and medieval yarn market. It is situated ideally in the village on a quiet, residential street but within a couple of minutes walk of all the facilities in Dunster, including the Castle.

Floral Cottage has been decorated in keeping with its age but to give a light, airy feeling and finished with quality and antique furnishings.

The ground floor consists of living area with large fireplace, underfloor heating, dining area and fully fitted kitchen leading out to a walled patio area with garden table and chairs.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, the front bedroom has a kingsized bed and the smaller back bedroom is fitted with two single beds. There is a family bathroom with over bath power shower. Gas central heating via radiators is provided upstairs.

Parking is available on the road opposite the cottage.

Use of a shared communal garden is also available

A welcome pack of grocery essentials together with a homemade cake and fresh flowers will be provided in the cottage on arrival.

About Janet and Keith Middleton

Keith and Janet Middleton live in the nearby village of Porlock. Keith has lived in Porlock all his life and is often to be spotted in the area in his driving school car. Janet moved to the area 20 years ago and owns two businesses in Porlock - a café in the village and a gallery with café in Porlock Weir.

Janet and Keith Middleton purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Janet and Keith Middleton chose West Somerset

Although the cottage was in need of a substantial makeover when we purchased it, its potential was immediately apparent. We have made some quite major changes to it, but have always tried to maintain its very special character and charm.

Great cottage and location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend staying in Dunster, the cottage was amazing and we'll presented with all you could need. The welcome pack was a great touch. This is a prime example of how to run rental accommodation we had all we needed and great communication from the owners. Will definitely stay again

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This is a little gem set in the stunning little town of Dunster.

Cottage is a very homely and comfortable and the beds are so good we had to look at the label on the mattress because we want one!

The whole area is stunning and we certainly hope to return to both Dunster and this cottage.

Many thanks.

Lovely, well-located cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cosy cottage. It was very well equipped and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the thoughtful 'welcome' provisions; a delicious home-made cake and basics like milk and bread. The location was great, just a short walk to the high street where we found interesting shops and a wide choice of pubs and cafes. We especially liked the deli, which had lots of delicious, locally sourced produce and real ales to buy to take home. We could have been totally self-sufficient in the village, but there were also plenty of large supermarkets a short drive away. Great for the dogs too, as there were lots of walks right from the doorstep. As the cottage was so warm and cosy we thought it would be a great place to stay over Christmas or in the Winter, and we would definitely like to return one day.

comfortable and well equipped

We had 4 nights in this lovely cottage. The location was perfect for walking out into the village and the many walks in the surrounding area. It was lovely to have flowers and cake when we arrived and there was everything we needed for our stay.

Beautiful cottage in picturesque location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic short Winter break in this beautiful cosy cottage. The flowers, welcome pack and cake were a lovely touch. There were many interesting walks around Dunster starting from the doorstep. We also visited Lynmouth, Lynton and Portlock Weir. We had delicious toasted sandwiches at the Portlock Weir art gallery cafe and tasty fish and chips at Driftwood cafe in Blue Anchor. Both dog friendly!! Hope to return soon.

What a gem

  • 5 of 5

Janet was really friendly and very accommodating with our rather vague arrival time. House was immaculate.the flowers, cake, bread, butter and milk was a fabulous surprise. The location is super. Very quiet but only a few minutes walk into Dunster centre. Castle entrance also only a few minutes walk. Our 2 dogs loved the underfloor heating! We were all very cosy and warm. Parking is virtually outside the door.but a word of warning about the beds..they are so comfy you might not want to get up. Best night's sleep ever!! Can't praise this property enough. Best equipt kitchen I have seen! Thank you Keith and Janet for a truly wonderful stay
